Retrousse Clothing

By January 20, 2013 Fashion

Retrousse Clothing are a new clothing brand specialising in t-shirts. They started last year (2012) and are London based.

We like to have fun. We like to play. We live off excitement and we crave the good times. We are Retrousse. A charismatic, energetic and contemporary brand from London est. 2012, celebrating ambition, style and creativity in urban life.

I love the ambition of new brands, because they’re like me, I want to be a fashion designer. I need to be one, and that’s exactly what Retrousse and other brands are like, ambitious and determined. Retrousse are also great with customers, as they wrap every t-shirt with care and individuality. They’re also green and enviromentally friendly…

Our first line of tees are made from 70% bamboo viscose and 30% organic cotton. This lightweight fibre combination is softer, more comfortable, more durable, more breathable and more absorbent, drying just as quickly as regular cotton. Bamboo is the fastest growing plant in the world requiring no assistance and when mixed with organic cotton, its natural anti-bacterial qualities are increased.

Urban T-Shirt £25.00

Although the T-Shirts are a Men’s cut, these are actually unisex! They look great as a baggy tee on a girl/woman, so try it out, whoever you are! My favourite is probably the Urban T-Shirt!

Outfit 43: Snowed In

By January 17, 2013 Fashion

I’m in the mood for doing an outfit! I haven’t done one, in like yonks, and I thought this was a perfect time, seeing as it’s cold, and snowy, so you might want some inspiration??! I have also added a special recipe to top it all off!

snowedinLight Grey Faux Fur Hood Parka Jacket £80.00 (River Island), Pixie Pant £72.76 (J Crew), Sorel Winter Carnival Purple Snow Cuffed Boots £100.00 (ASOS), Aztec Fairisle Snood £18.00 (Topshop) & Animal Jumper by Boutique £35.00 (Topshop).

This outfit is really simple, but it adds touches of colour and durability together. Pixie Pants have had a lot of hype and talk about them, and pretty much a mix of trousers/jeggings and leggings altogether! They are quite pricey, but are said to be very comfortable! Another pricey thing, are these snow boots. I have had snow boots before, and when you’re in the snow, they are a must have! A tip when buying them: make sure you buy them a size bigger, as thick socks need to fit in! Now, we’re going to make some Nutella Hot Chocolate!

snowedinDRINKNutella, Some Milk, Your Favourite Mug, Squirty Cream, A Milk Pan, & A Mixing Utensil (i.e Spoon!)

S/S 13 Hair Trends

By January 17, 2013 Beauty, Fashion

Bonjour again! I had a request to a post on the S/S 13 Hair Trends as some inspiration, also some of you maybe thinking of having a nice new cut for the start of a fresh year. I have also added some products on how to create the below looks… (Pictures from Pinterest)

Textured Waves are a big thing. See below for more info, on how to create this look…

Big Quiffs are also really hot! Back comb and add lots of spray for added height!

High Top Buns are one of my favourite looks! See below on how to create the look…

Side Swept Bangs are brilliant! If you have a fringe, make sure you sweep it across, for a clean and finished look!

hairss13Toni & Guy Casual Sea Salt Texturising Spray £7.19 (Toni & Guy), Large Doughnut Ring £5.09 Each (Superdrug), Babyliss Root Boost 2123U £29.99 (Superdrug), Elnett Hairspray Dry or Damaged Hair £6.39 (Superdrug) & Beauty Works Instant Side Swoop Fringe £15.99 (Paul’s Hair World).

First of all, the Toni & Guy Texture Spray, is apparently amazing. It has had loads of hype and talk about it, and for £7.19 I don’t see why you shouldn’t try it out! Next, for creating a big bun, use a doughnut, no not a sweet sugary cake, but a nice squidgy round thing that makes your hair look perfect! Then to hold that in place, add a load of hair spray! Then, for those of us who don’t have a fringe, or are to scared to try one out, get a clip in one!

TDP Designs: #1

By January 16, 2013 Designs

tdpdesign1aHere is my first design on my blog! It is hand drawn and then put through Photoshop! I hope you like it! This look was inspired by when I was feeling down, and my dad said to me to think up a dress under ‘Sunflowers In My Heart’. The black feather cape is the center of the sunflower, and the long maxi skirt are the yellow petals, so it’s kind of the other way round, but I like it like that!

Fashion Designers A-Z: Adrian Adolph Greenberg

By January 16, 2013 General

Bonjour! Hello! Ciao! I wanted to start a series for all us fashionistas who want to know more and want to know who they should know about etc. The series will just be short and sweet, just like this one…

adrian

Adrian Adolph Greenberg was born in 1903 and attended New York School for Fine & Applied Arts (Now Parsons School of Design), he moved to Hollywood in 1925 where he followed Cecil B. De Mille to MGM, and stayed there until 1941 when he opened his own design studio. He worked on other 250 films whilst at MGM. His film credits were seen as ‘Gowns by Adrian’.

He created Joan Crawford’s Shoulder Padded Power Suit which became a Fashion trend! He also created Jean Harlow’s gowns, and also designed the Ruby Slippers in The Wizard of Oz…

(Another amazing design) He was actually gay but, he still married a woman, to protect his career, and was married to her (Janet Gaynor) until the day he died. When he died he was buried in Hollywood, where Cecil B. De Mille was also buried.

Tom Ford & Individuality

By January 16, 2013 Beauty, Fashion

Last night I watched a documentary on YouTube about, the one and only, Tom Ford. Quite frankly, before this documentary I didn’t really know much about him, but now I do, and he is brilliant. He took Gucci from bankruptcy to literally bank irruption (I.e over flowing with cash). He then joined YSL when Gucci took them over, and was again, just brilliant. Ford then stopped working and produced a film in 2009 (A Single Man), which was about his depression after quitting. After that he came back with the Tom Ford brand and then in 2011, created his first TF Women’s Collection. He now has a beauty range as well. Now, although Ford is brilliant, I’m not here to babble on about his successes, I’m here to talk about what he said.

Nearing the end of the documentary, he talked about style. He said that style is all about being comfortable about who you are and what you wear. He then went on to say that you can have no money and look amazing or have loads and wear what you think looks good but actually your losing yourself in it all. At this point your probably thinking, ”And your point is…?” Well, it’s to say what I say all the time, those who get spotted for being stylish are those who are individual. Those who don’t care. Those who have no boundaries. He also said that in this day and age, people aren’t brave. Not like many years ago when people were extravagantly dressed, and wore things that were ridiculously OTT. Not like the tribes who lengthen their ears and adorn themselves in jewellery and spiritual accessories. When I heard what he said, I thought to myself and thought, I really need to be a bit more individual. I need to be more extravagant. To be honest, I don’t really have a style, I wouldn’t really be able to class myself in any certain style criteria, but I would be able to say that I wear things that most people wouldn’t. I’m not like Ophelia Horton who has all the vintage clothes, but I am still as into fashion as any other blogger/fashionista. Anyway, back to the point, I agree with Tom, he tells us that people need to be more extravagant, and that’s what I am going to do this year, be more brave, and break the boundaries.

The Golden Globes: Fashion Off

By January 15, 2013 Fashion

Bonjour! So I was thinking of just missing the Awards Season, but, in the Fashion world, it’s kind of hard not to, so I decided to go with the flow and do a post on it! So, um, here it is! (Images of Celebs found via The Telegraph)

GoldGlobe1Wonderful White: This is a very hard decision! They both work the ‘Wonderful White’ look so well! I think on Megan Fox it looks slightly less flattering, but I guess you could disagree! I think the Winner of the Wonderful White Golden Globe goes too……. Anne Hathaway!

GoldGlobe2Chocolate Couture:I really again, am not sure. I think perhaps Lena Dunham would suit it with a better hair cut, and I think Taylor Swift could possiblly do with a better neckline, so it’s very hard! I am going to settle it with… A TIE!

GoldGlobe3Sleek & Sheer: I love both these dresses! I also love how they are both going for the Monochrome look… ooh! It’s so hard! I think on a personal note about how she is with Daniel Craig, and how I like her as an actress, I am going to have to say…. Rachel Weisz!

GoldGlobe4Black Beauty: This look is so effortless, and they both do it so effortlessly! I really like the gold detailing on both the dresses, but I don’t really like Kate Hudson’s neckline, so the Winner of the Black Beauty Golden Globe goes too…. Helen Mirren!

GoldGlobe5Lady In Lace: This is probably one of my favourite looks of this season, and loads of the celebrities were working it. I think these too looks are great, but the unique blue shade I think wins me over!… Nicole Richie!

Tell me in the comments what you think about these looks, or Tweet me! 🙂

How To Look Good This Winter

By January 15, 2013 General

I saw on a site they had done a sort of Do’s & Don’ts for this Winter, so I thought I would do my own version, as the snow is coming!! (In the UK!)

winter1Paul’s Boutique Wellies £35.00 & UGG Stoneman Boots £155.00 (Both from ASOS)

Wellies will make your feet feel cold when they’re just being used for normal use! Plus, you’re going to look a little odd out and about in Wellies for no reason! Uggs, don’t support your feet, they maybe comfy, but they don’t do any good! Also, they kind of break the bank!

winter2Knitted Loop Stitch Jumper £42.00 & Knitted Colour Block Grunge Jumper £36.00 (Both from Topshop)

Sweaters are so in trend! I don’t think they have ever been so big! My favourite style are the slightly baggier ones, which look really cute with trousers and boots!

winter3Shea Butter Date Bouqet Hand Cream £8.00, Fresh Face Water £14.00 & Ultra Rich Conditioner £14.00 (All from L’Occitane)

I love L’Occitane! I tried the Date Hand Cream when my sister had it from a magazine, and it smells amazing! It doesn’t leave your hands greasy, and it is just a brilliant product! I probably will be asking for either the Hand Cream or Face Water for my birthday!

winter4Paddywax Ecogreen Pomegranate & Currant Scented Candle £15.00 (John Lewis)

winter5 Navy Quilt Belted Jacket £55.00 & Purple Basket Weave Beanie Hat £13.00 (Both from River Island)

Anything which is Quilted, you know will keep you warm! This coat from River Island is really smart as well. Beanies are amazing as well. I love them! They create a cute and preppy look, and also keep your ears nice and toasty! Another alternative, is a beret!

Blogging Tips & Q&A with Sophie Etc

By January 14, 2013 Beauty, Fashion

So once again, another fellow blogger has let me ask them some questions on blogging, so you guys can get some inspiration, and perhaps start thinking about doing one yourself! This time it’s Sophie from Sophie Etc

1. What inspired you to start your blog(s)?: I’ve always had a passion for writing, and I’d been following beauty and fashion blogs for a while so I decided I wanted a piece of the blogosphere! It started as a bit of a random blog, and its grown beyond my dreams now!

2.    Why did you choose Beauty & Fashion?: I had a bit of a growing fascination/obsession with make up and clothes. Once I got into blogging a bit more I focused on those two things as I was good at writing about them. Because I’m passionate about my interests, writing comes naturally. I also love to share my beauty finds with the rest of the world. It’s a great feeling when someone tells you that they’ve gone and bought something because you said good things about it.

3.    What are you top tips on starting a Blog?: Be yourself! I love blogs that show the bloggers personality, they are often the best ones. Also, write about what you love, not what you feel you have to write about. No one wants to see the same post on loads of blogs. If yours is different you’ll stand out!

4.    What are your Blogging Targets for this year?: Hit a big number of followers and add a bit of ‘me’ into my blog. With something as material as a beauty blog I feel like people forget there’s a human behind it!

5.    Who are your favourite fellow bloggers?: LLYMLRS because I LOVE her style!
The Sunday Girl as its my beauty bible and P0larmilk is a new favourite, it’s really simple and honest!

6.    What’s was your favourite trends of 2012?: Nail art. I love doing my nails and embraced it like it was a long lost sister!

7.    Where’s your favourite place to grab a bargain and why?: Topshop jewelry sales for sure! The jewelry is always so beautiful but so expensive. I raid it when the sale is on, accessories add so much to an outfit.

8.    What’s your favourite piece of Make-Up you’ve ever bought and why?: I didn’t buy it, it was a present but my YSL lipstick from my boyfriend… Its a beautiful beautiful item and I will definitely purchase another!

9.    What’s your favourite ever item of clothing/accessory you’ve ever bought and why?: My faux leather biker jacket from Topshop. A true style staple in anyone’s wardrobe, its so versatile!

10.   Who is your favourite designer and why?: Ted Baker. I adore the cute and colourful accessories, I own a few bags and pieces of jewelry! I also adore Alexander McQueen’s designs, they were pieces of art in themselves and absolutely beautiful.

11.   What is your favourite Make-Up Brand?: Hard to say because I like a lot of different ones. The one I trust the most is Rimmel for its purse friendly quality products. However Urban Decay is nearing my favourite ever now purely down to the amazing quality of their eyeshadows!

12.   What’s your personal style and what do you do to work it?: It’s quite simple and I like to wear versatile items. For example a white shirt and a biker jacket go with absolutely everything in my wardrobe!

So you can get a feel for Sophie’s blog, here are a few screenshots…
