I visited my Granddad today, and my mum wanted to look in a box of which my Grandma collected things in before she sadly passed away a few years ago. Inside the box were things from old Stockings to a World War 1 Army uniform. My Grandma loved exploring, especially in Canada, one of her favourite places of all. I also found a small broken bag of sunglasses inside their very old cases. They included vintage Wayfarers to broken-in-half glasses with no lenses. But, there was one case which caught my eye. Inside, were a pair of American ‘Polaroid’ Cat Eye Sunglasses, which were owned by my mum’s Grandma. The pair are a bit wonky, and they are fading in colour, but I reckon, still very fashionable; especially with the latest trends of Cat Eyes.
When I was looking in the box, it reminded me of a good book which I have on my stack of Fashion Books, ‘Dreaming of Dior’ by Charlotte Smith; which I do recommend. It is full of tales of fashion-istas in their troubles and joys etc.
Here are 3 of my favourite Maxi Skirts out this spring, and they are all under £40! Take a look….
The best way to work long skirts are blouses, shoulder bags, and heels/pumps. Here’s a few outfit’s I’ve put together using these skirts…
The Tie Front Blouse gives this look a bit more edge, along with the glasses, which give it a Vintage vibe! Add some stud earrings and you’ll look extra cute.
This skirt is quite hard to work, but it is easy when you put your mind to it! Add layers, to create a fuller look, or Asymmetric tops, which work as well. Keep colour coordinated, and pick strong colours, or try colour blocking! Add a pair of ballet pumps, and a clutch, and a snazzy pair of sunglasses, and you’re set for the sun!
This skirt can be worked so easily. Don’t be afraid to wear ankle boots, when the skirt is a little bit shorter than a Maxi. Also, these boots & bag look great together, and they just add that special something! Tuck in the shirt with a skinny belt, and add some gold drop earrings to really stand out!
