Mimi Foundation: If Only For A Second

By December 12, 2013 DIY & Lifestyle

I believe if this is my blog, that I can talk about what I want with in reason… even if it isn’t directly ‘fashion’ related. I love inspiring things, I love that feeling of just being like ‘Awww’ or ‘That’s amazing’, well I have something for you that hopefully should make you feel that way! It is slightly fashion related, in a way but I hope you like it no matter what it is about!

I love this one because it is very theatrical and reminds me of Meadham Kirchoff a lot. I love it so much! Plus, Katy (the lovely lady)’s expression is brilliant! That is a 100% natural too as it was taken just as she opened her eyes! Brilliant! 😀
mimi foundation if only for a second project cancer charitiesAriane is this lady’s name! Look at that hair? That is like crazily cool. I think the blue suits her! Best reaction of the lot, she’s just like *sassy hm-hm-hmmm*

The Mimi Foundation is a foundation for cancer patients, but not just for when they are in Hospital. Mimi help out by giving the patients courage and strength to keep on going through the struggle. The foundation got 20 people who suffered from cancer, and gave them a make-over (which, I think are brilliantly hilarious). They were then seated in front of a one way mirror with a photographer behind, and even if they just forgot about their situation for one second their objective would be completed. I absolutely love some of their responses, and the hair and make-up team really have done an excellent job.

mimi foundation if only for a second project cancer charitiesFabienne reminds me of an american lady who works at a diner. The hair, the bow… retro and kitsch. Brownie points for the amazing reaction too! 😀
mimi foundation if only for a second project cancer charitiesBrigitte… 1 word. Sophistication. #enoughsaid (oh, also maybe a bit of Hairspray inspiration went into this look!) Look at that expression too… :Omimi foundation if only for a second project cancer charitiesJeannine… I LOVE the pink colour! I also love the curls and the blue earrings. A nice pop of pink and a trend setting colour.  Not the best of reactions, but still brilliant!

You can buy the book from The Mimi Foundation, and 100% of the money goes towards helping other cancer patients just like these lovely bunch! I really think that is just such a nice idea and even if you don’t know somebody suffering with the same thing, I think you could do it for whatever worry somebody might live with! It just seems like such a fun thing to do to make somebody feel special and ‘care free’, if only for one second. Make sure to go over and give there Facebook page a ‘Like‘ because I think they really do deserve the support!

I know this isn’t a typical blog post for me, but I just loved the video and the pictures that I just had to share it with you! What do you think? Which is your favourite make-over?

Branding & Logos in the Fashion Industry

By December 10, 2013 Fashion

Last night I sat down and watched a programme on discount stores, like TKMaxx or the Bicester Village, and it came across an interesting point. I’ve discussed it before I believe, but I thought I would just go a step further in voicing my opinions.

branding logos fashion industry opinion post fashion

Another reason I am interested in discussing this, is after I saw a tweet from a blogger saying they ‘couldn’t compete with other bloggers because they only wear Primark compared to expensive clothing’. And also after the point on the programme which came up when they let people in the public feel a jumper with the label covered by a sticky note (the people had to give a price for how much they would pay, and when the sticky note was taken off, they had to re-price it. The jumper was a Ralph Lauren one, but without the label showing, the people priced it at about £10, and when the label was shown, they tripled the price and said it was worth £30, all because they saw that one label). I find it quite bizarre that people pay more, just because of the make! I have never bought anything because of it’s label, as they say, never judge a book by it’s cover.

I want to talk about the importance of branding and logos in the fashion industry, but the fact that it shouldn’t determine the price of a piece of clothing. Okay, so Ralph Lauren of course wouldn’t be Ralph Lauren without that little-man-riding-a-horse-playing-polo logo (that rhymes), and Chanel wouldn’t be Chanel without the double C’s, but how does a logo make something ‘more valuable’? Branding and logos now mean more than anything, it’s almost a sign of status. If you wear Ralph Lauren, you show that you have a bit more money than someone else, or if you have a Chanel handbag in your arm, then you can afford to splash out on a few bits of leather worth £1000. To be honest with you, I don’t even like the range of Chanel handbags (ooh, controversial I know!), but I think it’s more about status than anything else as I said. Apparently, if I wear H&M and New Look I am not as ‘cool’ and ‘fashionable’ as a luxury buyer, which of course is totally wrong.

I’m not talking about ‘logo t-shirts’ like the Kenzo tiger, I’m talking about the actual label inside tops (you know the ones you have to cut off anyway because they irritate the back of your neck?). Obviously brands have to market their clothes, they want people to know what somebody else is wearing, easily, which is of course what logos do. My question is though, why are they so important to us? Why are we so bothered about the logo that is on my new skirt? Do I look ‘bovvered’ mate, do I? Look at my face… is my face ‘bovvered’? Face? Bovvered? (Catherine Tate references in a rant… #genius)

branding logos fashion industry opinion post fashion nike jd sports

There are three arguments in my opinion; 1 – Status (no, not the ones that you post on your ‘wall’, but as in £££ status.), 2 – Quality (fabrics etc.), and 3 – ‘Fashion’.
Status – If you are seen with a Mulberry handbag (fake or real), people might think more highly of you (or try and rob you… maybe), and might think that you have a nice job etc etc (of course, you could have got it as a gift or whatever, but this is just for an example).
Quality – A lot of buyers believe that just because it is expensive, means it’s better quality, which of course is true in some cases, but if you watched the programme you  would have seen the fact that outlet stores sometimes only sell ‘outlet only’ pieces, which are cheaper versions, of the actual designer product.
‘Fashion’ – Some people generally think that if a product has one of these logos on it, then it is fashionable, on trend and stylish, and of course the fact that if you’re favourite celebrity is seen wearing that specific designer, you must have it because it’s ‘fashionable’ to them.

Even if you are wearing a false version of a brand’s product, the only reason you bought it to be fair, is because it has the ‘logo‘ on it… right? If you genuinely liked the product, surely you would actually splash the cash for the real deal? The other fact is… just plain and simply… why? What is so super special about a designer piece? I understand if you genuinely love the product, the fabric, the way it looks on you, but if you simply just like it because it has the name on it, and you think it is worth more… why? I really do not understand ‘your’ logic. Just because it says ‘Dior’ on it, doesn’t mean it’s nice… the name might be, but do you actually look at the product? You could probably find something a little bit cheaper which is just as nice, just simply without that label. It’s nice to treat yourself of course, but it’s just a name!

Let me take a celebrity for example… I was shopping in the same shop as Dame Helen Mirren (Insta-pap shot for you here), and she was so miserable, she didn’t even have to say anything and she just didn’t come across nice, and the only reason she is ‘special’ is because she has been in films. She’s like everyone else, we’re all human, like t-shirts are all t-shirts, but with different names on the annoying-neck-irritating labels. When (yes, I just said when, one has to be optimistic these days) I become a fashion designer, I don’t really want to be a ‘designer’. I’d love to be on the catwalks at LFW, but not for being a person who sells £1000 bags just because of the name on them, I want my designs to be available to everyone, and to sell because they are nice. Do you get what I’m saying now? If not I just wasted 1000 words on this post. Great.

My Style: Uncommon Nonsense*

By December 7, 2013 My Style

Hello everyone, I hope you are all well! Today I have another ‘My Style’ instalment with a nice bit of tartan! I’m currently listening to Daniel Bedingfield (old school tunes) and drinking a nice warm cup of tea whilst my fingers struggle to get from Q to P on a very cold keyboard. P.S If you pop over to my Facebook page, there is a give-away going on to win a leather watch! Go go go!

Uncommon Nonsense OOTD Fashion Blog Autumn Winter TrendsUncommon Nonsense OOTD Fashion Blog Autumn Winter TrendsWhat I Wore: Grey Coat with Faux Fur Collar (John Lewis), Tartan Dress* (Uncommon Nonsense), Super Soft Long Gloves £5.00 (ASOS) & Dr Martens €35.00 (Jumble Sale).

Before I begin… I finally have some warm gloves! My fingers have been turning into icicles, but after having a browse on ASOS, I decided on these, and they live up to their name, because they are certainly soft and long! Moving onto the main outfit though, this is like my coat. I love it so much and I’m sadly starting to grow out of it, so please John Lewis, can you bring another version out! I received this dress from the lovely people from Uncommon Nonsense, and I had no idea what it was going to be like, and I do really like the tartan, I must admit, but the size is way off for me, but that is only because I am usually a Size 4/6 in ‘bigger’ dresses, so this is just a tad roomy for my liking. It’s nice layered up though, especially with my fluffy jumper.

Uncommon Nonsense OOTD Fashion Blog Autumn Winter Trends Uncommon Nonsense OOTD Fashion Blog Autumn Winter Trends

Can I just say that our grass is looking rather ‘lush’? Just a fact… lol. *back to the dress, Tolly* Oh yes… I like how it has a little bit of detailing so when I wear it with my fluffy jumper it pokes out the top. The dress also came with a faux fur collar, but unfortunately it doesn’t sit perfectly 🙁 so, that’s why I opted for my ‘collared’ coat. (I’m currently typing but unsure what is happening with my thumb, I believe it has lost all feeling and has gone a bit odd. Very strange sensation going on here!)

Uncommon Nonsense OOTD Fashion Blog Autumn Winter TrendsN’aww, isn’t Papa Posh a nice photographer? 🙂 So yup, if you did enjoy this post, make sure to give it a bit of love by leaving a comment! As I said at the beginning, there’s a give-away on my Facebook page, so make sure you take a look at that! Good day my lovelies! (I have a numb thumb – I’m a poet and you know it  – to sort out!)

Christmas Wishlist: Holographic, Fabric & Cats

By November 27, 2013 General

Hello! Sorry I haven’t blogged in a while, I just haven’t been in the right mood…? Anyhoo, following on from my Budget Christmas Shopping Guide, I thought I would do a Wishlist. Now, just so you know, I do not expect all or even any of these things. They are just a few things which I would ask Santa for, if he was real. Fabulous, now I have the pressure and stress of hoping that nobody just found out that Santa wasn’t real… owww.

christmas wishlist asos sheinside furby holographic fashion ark(Sorry, I added the Furby at the last minute so 11, is just hanging’ with the under 10s)

1: SheInside Crazy Cat Sweatshirt – There are 2 reasons I want this… 1, being the fact that it has a cat on it, and 2, it reminds me of something I read the other day. Basically I gave Paloma Posh (my cat) a tiny crumb of chocolate cake and my eldest brother said ‘Don’t give her chocolate’ so I looked it up, and well, you can read this for yourself. It’s not the nicest, but at the time I found it hilarious, and I believe this jumper sort of sums it up! (I believe I now sound extremely weird and slightly sad…)

2: UNIF Biker Jacket – A thing of beauty. It is just gorgeous. It has white sleeves, and a holographic torso, with chunky white buckles, what more could you want? I could just imagine me opening it up now… *imagines herself floating on a candy floss cloud cradling the jacket like a baby* (Okay, now I sound very weird)

3 & 4 & 6: ASOS Holographic Flats, ARK Boots & Motel Bag – Take classic school style flats, add a white sole and shiny silver. Yup, basically my idea of a perfect shoe. I feel like if I get a pair of holographic shoes, my wardrobe would be complete. I could start to wear ‘my’ kind of outfits because ‘my’ kind of shoes would be in my collection. I’m sorry there is so much holographic in this post  9+858.21.;’, How rude, I am being interrupted by my brother who is attacking the keyboard  but I just love it! The boots are just perfect because when you don’t want to wear an ordinary pair of flats, you can wear a Dr Marten style boot. Perfection, plus they aren’t even that expensive! Oh, and the holographic bag as well, yeah. Wouldn’t mind some holographic paint too, so I can just paint my whole entire life all shiny and iridescent…

5: Moooh Cloud Print Jacket – Do I really need to explain? I thought not… oh okay then, well basically it has clouds on it, sooo…?

7: Nikon 35mm 1.8 Lens – Ever since I read this post on Wish Wish Wish, I have never stopped obsessing over the fact that I am living without such a thing. I thought the lens I had was good, but oh boy, this one has 1.8 aperture and that’s just like… mental.

8: Lipstik Lillian Shoes – I love these! I’ve always been a fan of the chunky white shoe, but when I saw this particular pair, I fell in love. Unfortunately I believe they are only available in Australia, so if anyone can find me a European pair, then do let me know! 😉

christmas wishlist asos sheinside furby holographic fashion ark

9 & 10: Gracie Girl & Mon Amie Fabrics – I’ve recently, been really wanting to start making my own dresses. Unfortunately France don’t have the best supply of fabrics (well, where I live anyway), and even when I find some, they are extortionately priced, so when I found Bloomerie Fabrics, I knew I had to add these fabrics to my Wishlist! Imagine making a smock dress in the fabrics on the right (10)? Gorgeous.

11: Furby Boom ‘Cube’ – I know, slightly random, but that Argos advert is really making me want one! My sister used to have one and apparently it started driving the family insane, but hopefully there has been an improvement! The new ones mean you can hatch baby Furbies on your iPad/iPhone, and do all the usual stuff. I know it really is a bit weird, but I seriously want one! I want to make it be like… my minion.

So there we have it! I don’t really want much this year, I must be getting older *sigh*… Although, I do really want some ASOS vouchers and a Saxophone, so if you do want to send me anything here is my address: JUST KIDDING. 😉

What do you want for Christmas?! Let me know by leaving a comment…

My Style: When She Was 22*

By November 21, 2013 DIY & Lifestyle, My Style

Hi hi! Today is another edition of My Style, but with a little twist! Read on to see a pretty cool little thing from a certain App brand! *cough* Shuttersong *cough*… 😉

my style ootd fashion blog teen fashion shuttersong ios app photography app my style ootd fashion blog teen fashion shuttersong ios app photography appWhat I Wore: Black Fluffy Jumper £10.00 (Primark), Denim Dungarees (Jumble Sale), Tartan Check Scarf (Second Hand), Tiny Heart Necklace (Girl Talk – the one with TDP in it! 😉 ), Dr Martens (Jumble Sale) & Mermaid Logo Watch (Shuttersong)*

I know this is a weird way to start, but do I look like a deranged elf? I always think I do…? Okay, umm… back to normal… This outfit nice and warm and cosy, and because it has the different textures (fluff and denim), I think it makes it more ‘fashion-y’ and all that jazz. I also like how the denim and the scarf a nice pops of colour against my jumper, so it isn’t too dark and gloomy. It was especially cold when I took these photos, and walking around Toulouse is quite a trek, so I was freezing! Darn you Winter! Ooh ooh! I’m wearing my little heart necklace I got in my Girl Talk magazine (when I was in it), and it is now my lucky necklace, and reminds me of my proud moments 🙂 – Whilst taking these pictures, I realised how embarrassing it is when you take them in public!

Now, you might be wondering, ‘Tolly, why is there an orange dot on that picture?’ well, let me introduce you to Shuttersong! Shuttersong is basically an App which is available for iOS users (iPhone/iPad), where you basically, add music, or a recording on top of the image! I think it is really cute because you could have a picture of you blowing out your candles, then Happy Birthday on top! The App is FREE which means you should totally go and try it out! Visit the App Store and click the download button! On to the watch though… I didn’t own any black, or simple leather watches until this one arrived, and I am so glad I have it! It goes with most things and is the perfect of sizes! I really do like it a lot! It has the Shuttersong Mermaid in the centre, which I have to say, is rather cute! I also like how it has a silver middle, and no numbers because it makes it even more versatile and plain. Plus, it’s real leather, so hopefully it should last quite a long time before anything needs to be replaced!

my style ootd fashion blog teen fashion shuttersong ios app photography app my style ootd fashion blog teen fashion shuttersong ios app photography appSome random pictures I know, but heck, why can I not put my photography on my own blog? If you are wondering, the first image is of some hammers… from the Air Bus museum (yup, that really makes sense), but I thought the focus was quite nice. Then the second one is of some buildings (obviously), and after reading Islaay’s post, I have been obsessed with the way buildings look, and I tried to do some of my own! What do ya’ think?

Isabel Marant for H&M Collection Review

By November 19, 2013 Fashion

Hello everyone, I didn’t really know what to talk about today, but in one of last night’s Twitter chats, the subject of the Isabel Marant for H&M collaboration popped up. Seeing as I have some fairly strong views about the collection, what could be better than a ‘review’?

isabel marant for h&m collection review girls mens womens collection vogueWomen’s Collection – The Cons

If you know me, you know that I like colour. Now, this might just be a personal preference, but when a collection is literally black and white, with a hint of red (I would probably crack out that joke, but it would be a bit cheesy), I am usually put off. In my opinion, it is not the H&M I am used to. When I think ‘collaboration’, I think the designer – in this case, Marant – would infuse the style of the brand -H&M – into their own work. I do see this on occasion, with the printed jeans, but most of it is really a bit frumpy, a bit plain and a bit boring. I’m going to put a Pro to a Con here and say that yes, monochrome is versatile, but basically 99.9% of the collection has a 2 tone colour palette. I really hope this doesn’t offend anyone, but… I feel it’s all a bit ‘mumsy’ and after the Beyonce campaign from H&M, I feel like this is the other end of the scale. They’ve gone from young and youthful, to boring and old… in my opinion 😉 I’m afraid to say, and you can probably tell, I am really not a fan. I just don’t understand the hype? Plus, I believe that H&M have even stopped selling it all for a certain amount of time, I mean, congratulations on selling so much, but you should be ready for it. I went on the site and it’s so confusing as well. Note to NetBook users – don’t use a NetBook on the site.isabel marant for h&m collection review girls mens womens collection vogueThe Pros…

The thing with the nicer pieces of the collection, is that they’ve all been done before, or they are just safe pieces to match the trends. The oversized coat, the sequin bottoms and the fluffy jumpers. They are quite nice, but as I said, they are not very original pieces. But to make you all happy, I wouldn’t mind that oversized coat under my tree this Christmas. Just letting you know, Santa! 😉

isabel marant for h&m collection review girls mens womens collection vogueMen’s Collection – The Cons

I’m on the fence with the men’s range. It’s nice, but then there are elements which I don’t quite understand. Let’s take the white t-shirt for instance. I don’t get when designers do that. I mean don’t get me wrong, when I hopefully become a designer, I am sure I will have a few plain t-shirts here and there, but when it comes to a collaboration with a high street brand, who already have plenty of plain t-shirts in stock, why ‘design’ one? It’s the exactly the same, perhaps just a different cotton. Someone fill me in please, just why? Then we go onto a scraggy jumper… I’m sorry but I am pretty sure I saw the farmer down the road sporting a similar one – no, he isn’t on trend, if he was, it would make him the trend setter -I just do not understand it. I believe it could be trying to portray the inside of a jumper, so it’s almost an inside-out-but-the-correct-way jumper, maybe?

The Pros…

I do quite like the collection other than the inside-out-but-the-correct-way jumper, because it caters for different types of guys, and I like some of the sleeker pieces, so yes, it isn’t that bad, much better than the Women’s collection.

isabel marant for h&m collection review girls mens womens collection vogueKid’s Collection – The Cons

Stay with me on this one, but look at the two kid models… mentally swap the jeans over, and there. The girl is wearing the wrong outfit!! Other than that, I don’t think Marat has done that bad. Some of the pieces are quite similar, and those shorts do look a tiny bit too small, but other than that, I don’t have such a long ‘Cons’ section to write.

The Pros…

As I said, I don’t mind the range that much. I quite like some of the trousers and jeans, and the denim jackets are quite cool, and again the oversized jacket is there which means there is even more reason for Santa to pop it under the tree! *hint hint, wink wink* – don’t worry guys, I don’t believe in Santa any more. Oh, and those boots do look quite comfortable even if they are boys!

If you enjoyed this don’t forget to leave a comment with your thoughts on the Isabel Marant for H&M collection! If you do enjoy it, then I might do a review of the upcoming Meadham K for Topshop collection because that is meant to be quite interesting! Toodle pip! 🙂

A Guide to Budget Christmas Shopping

By November 17, 2013 DIY & Lifestyle

I feel like I am a bit of a Scrooge because I’m always moaning that Christmas is already here. I mean, come on, Christmas films, already?! I even ate a mince pie yesterday. Next week everything will be about getting ready for New Year! But there is one aspect which I understand, which is shopping. I feel like November is a good time to start, because then things don’t go out of stock etc, so I decided I would make a guide to budget Christmas shopping!

Budget Christmas Shopping DIY Present Ideas Voucher Codes WilkinsonsGet Creative… 1//2

There are loads of tutorial out there on making hair bows, cushions etc, you name it, you can make it! Making your own gifts saves the £££ but also means you can give your loved ones a completely unique present. Plus, if you don’t like 1, Christmas shopping at all or 2, going out in the cold, it saves the stress of shopping. Stay in, watch a film and make something! You can also buy kits for making jewellery, soaps etc which means you can make things in bulk, make them professionally and keep it for next year! This Fashion is Mine has a few ideas, so make sure you check them out!

Budget Christmas Shopping DIY Present Ideas Voucher Codes WilkinsonsBundle It Up... 3

To make a sweet and cheap present, I recommend going to a shop like Wilkinsons. It may surprise you, but they have a really big range of things at good prices, which can cater for most people. All you have to do is gather a few bits and bobs and wrap it up nicely. Poundland can even help with their wrapping supplies, you could possibly make your own too! If you do it really well, nobody will ever suspect that you only spent a few pennies on it! It’s like your own gift set! I’ve done this, and it went down a treat!

Budget Christmas Shopping DIY Present Ideas Voucher Codes WilkinsonsSet A Budget… 4//5

Obviously your friends and family are all priceless but if you really need to keep hold of those purse strings, then make sure you set prices per person. I would recommend spending more on your nearest and dearest, and less on your friends. Maybe you could spend £15.00 each for your parents and £8.00 for your friends. Be careful though Mr/Miss Popular! This could still add up!

Budget Christmas Shopping DIY Present Ideas Voucher Codes WilkinsonsVouchers & Gift Cards… 6

If you really have no idea what to buy for somebody, a good present is a Voucher or Gift Card. Straight after Christmas, the sales kick in, which means the recipient of the Voucher, can go and treat themselves to whatever they like! Plus, you can now buy ones which work in multiple stores, and some stores even let you add as much as or little as you want – usually at least £5.00 though!

Budget Christmas Shopping DIY Present Ideas Voucher Codes WilkinsonsSearch, Search, Search… 7 (find the code at Islaay.com) & 7

As I said, Christmas shopping can be stressful, but this always the internet (everything comes back to the internet, non?), so make sure you shop around. Some shops may even have better deals on their site. I recommend definitely taking a look at Amazon, ASOS and BANK Fashion. Another tip is to always look for discount codes. It’s always annoying when you discover there was one, just after you pay. Talking about codes, some of your favourite blogs might have codes too! Motel Rocks are a very popular brand with blogger discount codes 😉 Don’t forget that free delivery is your best friend. ASOS do free worldwide delivery, and it’s pretty quick too!

I hope you enjoyed this little budget Christmas shopping guide! I should be bringing you a Christmas Wishlist because I thought it deemed appropriate, so watch out for that! I also have a couple of Winter style DIYs coming up, also! 😀

Catching Fire Inspired Fashion

By November 15, 2013 Fashion

Happy Children In Need Day! I’m actually being quite nice and joining in even though I am in France, by donating all money I receive from Ad Packages from 15th-17th November to the charity! Please donate! If you have been living under a rock though, you may not know that the 2nd film in the Hunger Games series, ‘Catching Fire’ is coming out in cinemas in the next 10 days, which triggered a thought in my mind of showing you a few things I found which were inspired by the new film.

Catching Fire Hunger Games Fashion Trish Summerville Costume Designer Jennifer Lawrence Fashion Silver Floral Crown//Skirt//Dress//Shoes//Blouse//Hairpiece//Crazy Colour//Mockingjay Pin

I almost missed the chance to watch The Hunger Games. It was the end of the school term and my sister told me it was on and I thought it was a sort of ‘Transformers’ sort of ‘Star Trek’ film, but I went ahead and watch it… then bought all 3 books… and I am now obsessed. When I saw the posters for the new Catching Fire film on MTV, I knew I had to do something with them. My two favourite characters are Katniss & Effie. If you haven’t watched the films – you need to – then you may not know but the costumes are quite amazing. When Katniss is not fighting for her life, her costumes are stunning (literally), and with Effie, well, just WOW. Her costumes are always so unique, colourful and over the top, they are just amazing. Trish Summerville better have done a good job for the 2nd movie!. *rephrase* She has done an amazing job, just take a look here!

I absolutely LOVE Katniss’ main show stopper, which I have popped down below… it’s full of ruffles, tulle and lace, plus some really nice intricate pieces (the inspiration for popping the floral crown on there!). It is absolutely stunning, and I reckon some wedding dresses will be inspired by that once the film is released! The cherry red pieces, and hair dye are inspired by Effie’s main show stopper – again, below – which is quite similar with the ruffles, tulle and lace, but a bit more bold, and I love how it has been put together with the bangles and chunky jewellery. Oh Effie, you really do make me want to dye my hair pastel pink!

I am now very tempted to buy the fake Mockingjay Pin and just wear a pink wig everywhere, but I am not really sure that I could pull it off as well as the cast do it? What do you think? Are you as excited as I am for the Hunger Games and the costumes?!

A/W Look Book with Peacocks*

By November 12, 2013 My Style

WOW, long time no… read? Ha. I’m sorry I’ve been away for a few more days than usual, but firstly, my brain decided to empty itself (not literally) and I simply couldn’t think of any blog posts, and then yesterday, it decided to explode into the worst headache 🙁 So today, I went out in the cold (my toes were numb) to shoot my Look Book! I’m sorry it’s not tip top’, but I’ve never done one before and it’s harder than you think! Okay, this very long intro should probably stop, so um… enjoy!

peacocks girls clothing teen fashion a/w look book What I Wore: Multicolour Chunky Knit Beanie (Primark), Love Me Batwing T-Shirt £7.00 (Peacocks)*, Petticoat Tutu £20.00 (M&S) & Chelsea Boots (Jumble Sale)

My favourite outfit at the moment! I splurged on this petticoat tutu skirt in England, and when this cute slogan top arrived, I knew I had to pair the two together. The top is slightly bat winged, but is really really comfortable. In my opinion pastels in the winter are just perfect, especially when it’s tulle – you know my love for tulle! I also adore this beanie which was a right bargain!

peacocks girls clothing teen fashion a/w look book What I Wore: Fluffy Jumper £10.00 (Primark), Blue & Black Long Sleeve Maxi Dress £10.00 (Peacocks)*, Floral Headband £10.00 (ASOS) & Dr Martens €30.00 (Jumble Sale)

Again, this look is one of my favourites for A/W. It’s a little bit grunge-y, but a little bit cute, and definitely warm. I’m really happy with the maxi dress because it has long sleeves, and it’s just the right length! Not many teen collections cater for maxi dresses! The fluffy jumper adds a little sumin’ sumin’ with the texture.

peacocks girls clothing teen fashion a/w look book What I Wore: White Blouse (Next), Tartan Check Scarf 0.65c (2nd Hand Shop), Red and Monochrome Tartan Check Skater Skirt £7.00 (Peacocks)& Chelsea Boots (Jumble Sale)

I think this outfit is really cute and British, and nice for those days where it isn’t too cold, but not too warm. I think you could dress it up with a leather jacket and chunky boots. This skirt is perfect for all seasons too! Who said you can’t wear tartan in summer?! Plus, how amazing is my 65 cent scarf? Bargain!

peacocks girls clothing teen fashion a/w look book What I Wore: White Shirt (M&S), Sparkly Blue Bow £8.00 (Prairie Charms)*, Fluffy Jumper £10.00 (Primark), Black & Grey Leopard Print Skater Skirt £7.00 (Peacocks)*, Dr Martens €30.00 (Jumble Sale)

Come on, look at that bow?! Cuteeee! ^.^ Haha! I added the sparkly bow just to jazz it up a bit more – top tip: use hair bows as faux bow ties! – but yeah it’s just a really simple, comfy outfit. I actually really like the skirt. It’s simple, but because the print is in a plain colour combination, it can be worn in different ways. Gahh, the fluffy jumper is so snug!

I hope you enjoyed my first ever Look Book! I hope I did it okay?… I also have 3 other pieces from the Teen Collection at Peacocks which I hope to shoot (again – the pictures weren’t the best!) soon. Shout out to Peacocks though! I am so grateful for all of the support they have given to my blog! I never knew I would be collaborating with a high street brand which is in most UK towns! 😀 Please leave me a comment if you wish!
