My Style: Dancing With The Clouds

By May 28, 2013 DIY & Lifestyle, Fashion, My Style

Last weekend, the last day of me being 12 to be precise, me and the family (excluding 3), went out to celebrate my birthday as the next day Papa Posh was off to work! We decided to go to a pretty little village and a have a bite to eat with a ‘brisk’ walk.

my style my stylemy style my style my styleWhat I Wore: Coat (John Lewis), Embellished Lace Top €3.00 (Jumble Sale), Blue Floral Dress €2.00 (Jumble Sale), Stripey Top (St James), White Trousers, Pop Band* – on my wrist (Miss GlossyBox), Mint Green Trainers £7.99 (H&M) & Barry M Greenberry £3.99 (ASOS)

As you can probably tell by my blog banner, I LOVE mixing prints. I just think it is so fun and cute! I really like this dress as it’s very floaty, yet the neck line and sleeveless arms make it quite fitted. I also love this ‘Chanel-esque’ embellished top which was an absolute bargain. I knew it had to be mine, and I even got €2.00 off for haggling, oh yes. My coat is probably one of my favourites I own, as it is nice and snug, but also has cute little details like the collar, and the bow on the back. It was a little chilly that day so we had to wrap up a bit more 😉 I don’t usually like wearing trousers with dresses, but somehow this looks okay (I think) as the dress is quite floaty, and doesn’t have a plain hem.

my stylePapa Posh making his first appereance…. well his back…. my style my styleCan we just admire the beauty of these pictures. I am really enjoying my editing at the moment, and I feel like I should stick with this look. It just looks so darn pretty!

As I said we had some lunch (in the place above) which was quite yummy, but the portions were like, HUGE. The french just seem to eat, and eat and eat, but somehow never gain weight. After walking around (below pictures) we then went to a Chateaux where we shown around by the Great Grandson of the owner! He had a rather strange wart on his nose which did make me and my brother laugh though…. hehehe. After that we drove back home, stopping on the way to grab a few things and search down our surname amongst the Coca-Cola’s. Unfortunately only names like Cyril and Celine were left. 🙁

my style my style my styleSuch a pretty village! It’s called Saint-Cirq Lapopie if you’re wondering!

I had quite a nice day but sadly, as I said, we had to say bye bye to Papa Posh for a while, and celebrate my birthday via Skype! It was quite hilarious really, we had two computers set up, one with my sister and one with my dad on it. Sounds simple, but it really isn’t!

On Wednesday 29th (tomorrow – click the link!), I am off to the Style Blogger Awards, and quite literally, it is all because of YOU! The funds in which you donated was exactly £500.00 on the spot! I am really excited to meet most of the bloggers which I chat to daily, and of course see who wins the award I am up for! *fingers crossed* I come back with a win! I am sure you will know by Twitter! Of course I will be blogging all about it! The posts will be in 4 or 5 parts, starting with packing, and ending with the awards! I hope you enjoy it all!

Miss GlossyBox #1 Review*

By May 24, 2013 Beauty, Fashion

I have always been interested in monthly subscription boxes since blogging, but have never actually thought about buying one because I thought just going out and buying things individually would be better. I’ve also always thought that the boxes would have products more suitable for older age groups, until very recently when GlossyBox released the all new Miss GlossyBox for teens and young adults!

miss glossybox reviewInside Miss GlossyBox #1*: Eye Rock in Black Lace*, Molly Mabel Pop Band*, So…? Dry Shampoo in Va Va Volume*, Amie Spring Clean Clay Mask*, Beauty UK Eye Pencil in Black*, 2True Glitterati Nail Polish in Shade 6* & Stripey Nail Kit*

miss glossybox review miss glossybox reviewThe ‘Box’:Instead of a box like the other GlossyBoxes, Miss GlossyBox comes in a funky bag! I think it is actually more handy than having a box, as you can use it as a make-up or wash bag, and if you collect them, you could get multiple colours!
Eye Rock in Black Lace*: I have always been interested in Eye Rock, but have never been brave enough to give it a go. After my not so good experience with Nail Rock, I steered away from the other types, but having it in the ‘box’ has made me even more interested in trying it out. I may even where it to the Style Blogger Awards next week!
Molly Mabel Pop Band*: I think Pop Bands are a great way to keep your hair strong and healthy, as they don’t kink, AND they don’t split hair. They also look cute on your wrist, and you only have tie them twice around your ponytail! Easy! Pop Band are also sponsors of the Posh Fashion Awards, FYI.
So…? Dry Shampoo in Va Va Volume*: Again, I have always been interested in Dry Shampoos, but never felt I needed them. I have tried it out a few times so far, and it seems to make my hair feel slightly fresher, but a full review is to come!
Amie Spring Clean Clay Mask*: Quite recently I have been on a hunt to find a good mask, that non girly-girl-spa-day Tolly, will like! I recently saw a review of Amie products, and it got me thinking into whether this will be as good! It is best for young skin, so it should work a treat!
Beauty UK Eyeliner in Black*: Eyeliner is one of my must haves. I think if you are my age and you want to wear make-up, it’s one of those things you should try out first. It can make your eyes open up and also just add a bit more definition and shape to your ‘peepers’. I have used Beauty UK before, and it was quite good.
2True Glitterati Nail Polish in Shade 6*: I was literally going to buy a similar polish to this the other day before the Miss GlossyBox was popped in my post box! It is much cheaper than the one I was going for, and after trying it as soon as I got it, I fell in love with it!
Stripey Nail Kit*: Also along with the ‘box’, was a small pack of clippers and a nail file. Essentials when you like looking after your nails!

My first impressions of the box were that it has lots of things in it which I may not always use, but it would give me a chance to try them out before I buy them in full size. It also means that you save money because you get some nice products for cheaper than buying them all at once. From a blogger’s point of view I think it is great because it gives me lots of things to review, for you (yes, you reading this now), to see before you spend out on anything. For a young teen (Sadly, that now includes me!), this box is great because it gives room for experimenting, and means you don’t have to spend all your pocket money on seperate items.

Overall I think it is a really good idea, and it is full of really cute things which are suitable for my age group. I am really excited to start experimenting and finding new products I love! I think if you want a present for you next birthday girls, this is the one for you!

SUBSCRIBE TO MISS GLOSSYBOX HERE!
Miss GlossyBox is available bi-monthly (Every 2 months), and is available only in the UK (including Northern Ireland). It only costs £7.00?! + P&P, and you can cancel any time!

Side Note: Full reviews of most of these products will be posted within June & July. After July, I will be setting my blog to mostly fashion, and beauty will not be included, other than reviews of products I have *really* been loving, and ones like these! Sorry! I’ve decided that this blog needs to be set to what it really is!

Have you tried the ‘Miss Glossybox?’ Are you subscribed to any beauty boxes? What do you think of a teen beauty box? Let me know in the comments!

(I am very grateful to have received the first Miss GlossyBox from Glossy Box & Scoop PR. All views are 100% honest, and are not biased. I would never swing a review in a good way for money or reviewing purposes.)

DIY Embellished Sunglasses

By May 22, 2013 DIY & Lifestyle, Fashion, My Style

A massive trend which was first introduced by designers such as Chanel, is Embellished Sunglasses. Whether you want studs poking out of your brows, or want a few daisies bordering your eyes, there is something for everyone! Some of these sunglasses cost a BOMB, so I’ve decided to show you how I made some for less than £3.00!! Enjoy 🙂

DSC07413Wayfarer Sunglasses – 99p (eBay)//Floral Cabochons – £1.04 (eBay)

The Sunglasses in which I bought are just plain white. I went for this style as it suits me best, but I think any style would do for this DIY, as long as it has room to fit the flowers. You must get ‘Cabochons’ and NOT buttons, as they have flat backs which makes it super easy to stick on. I went for one colour as it was a bit cheaper. You could also use different things, like studs or perhaps little stars, or animals. Mix it up! It is best to use a Hot Glue Gun as it means you can take off any mistakes(?!) as the glue can come off quite easily, but still holds things down for a good amount of time.

DSC07415First of all you want to heat up the Hot Glue Gun and get it so it is dripping out the end on it’s own, because it will be easier to use. Whilst you wait, think about how you will put the Cabochons on. Put a book underneath so they don’t slip off. The best designs are either across the whole brow, or just in the corners, but you could also do the sides or ‘arms’ of the Sunglasses too.

Secondly, when the Glue has melted fully, add one small dot the place you want to stick the Cabochon onto. DO NOT put the Glue on the Cabochon itself as you could burn yourself, and it may spread out and make the Glue visible when pressing it down. When pulling the Hot Glue Gun away from the glasses, pull them away from the lenses to avoid any glue going onto them. You could put a sticky note over the lenses too to make sure this doesn’t happen. Repeat this process until you have finished the design, and leave them to cool.

DSC07428 DSC07430The complete design! Pretty cool, huh? 🙂 Make sure to be careful with them!

In total these cost me £2.03, as I already had the Glue, so at the most it will cost you £5.00! It’s super easy, and you can experiment with different designs. I think these will look great for summer, and will be a great statement to add to any outfit. This is a great thing to try out as some cost £15.00, and for £2.00, I think we all know which is the better deal! I hope you enjoyed this ‘DIY Embellished Sunglasses’ tutorial and do make sure to tweet me if you give it a whirl! Or Instagram a picture using #TDPSunnies

Mini Design Collection #2: Friend or Foe

By May 20, 2013 Designs, Fashion

FYI, I am writing this now as a 13 year old! Yes, the teenage years have hit, and I am no longer a ’12 year old blogger’ 🙁 Never mind! Anyhooo! You may have realised there has been a bit of a lack of my fashion designs recently. I have been very busy with sorting things out so I have finally, just got round to doing some! I decided I would do some with a bit more of a meaning, and something which has been inspired by something, instead of just random ideas coming from my brain!

tolly dolly posh fashion designs‘Coat of Arms’ Jacket & ‘In The Camo’ Top & Skirt:I decided to mix 2 military style designs together to create a sophisticated, yet edgy and sport luxe look. I want the jacket to be a sort of felt fabric with a nice silk lining. The red would resemble the classic army colours, along with the blue. The gold detailing on the back and on the cuffs would be like bullets, and the cross over at the back would almost be like how soldiers carry the bullets. The Camo skirt and Khaki top would both be cotton, and could be worn in may different ways. I would probably price the pieces like this: Jacket – £80.00, Top – £15.00, Skirt – £25.00 and Boots – £65.00.

tolly dolly posh fashion designs(Left) Feather Cape, Burnt Out Dress & Fire Tights. (Right) ‘Civilian’ Dress:I believe these two designs are very relevant for the things that are happening at the moment. With the wars abroad, I thought mixing the two together would be a current and unique idea. Like my ‘Sunflower‘ Cape, this is very similar, but it has ombre feathers and resembles the flames. The dress is simple and would be great for summer. The black dip dye at the hem resembles the ashes after the flames. With the tights being flames also. The second design is meant to be inspired by the ‘civilians’ of the wars. They are surrounded by violence, yet this dress would be beautiful on anybody, as it I think it would compliment most skin tones. If I could have a model for the dress on the right, it would have to be Cara Delvigne, as I think she would look stunning in it.

tolly dolly posh fashion designs(Left) ‘Splashing Waters’ Dress (Right) ‘Green as Grass’ Swimsuit:You maybe thinking how these two have anything to do with the ones above, but they do! The water is something which is so important when it comes to tough times, as it maybe hard to supply etc and the people may not be able to get the water as a risk of going outside. I would want this dress to be a chiffon/taffeta dress, with big puffy shoulders, just like water when it splashes. This swimsuit is meant to be the grass and food, and how once again it may be hard to find in difficult situations like war. I would like it to be quite retro and be quite snug fitting, so it could suit most shapes and sizes. It may look simple, but I think a lot more could be added to make this much more interesting.

I would be very grateful if you did NOT use my designs for your own purpose. These have been created by myself in my own time. If you would like to use them for ANY reason, please email:[email protected]

If you could have one of these fashion designs, which one would you wear? Which is your favourite? Make sure to tell me in the comments!

My Style: Not For Ponies*

By May 15, 2013 DIY & Lifestyle, Fashion, My Style

A while back I found an online store called Not For Ponies, and I thought it was super duper cute! It mixes basic pieces with cute twists in really good quality fabrics. Beckie at Not For Ponies was kind enough to send me 2 of the Pug Tops which are my favourite from the shop! They’re so basic yet so cute and versatile, plus there is a French Pug one!

not for ponies t-shirt reviews not for ponies t-shirt reviewsWhat I Wore:French Pug T-Shirt £20.00* (Not For Ponies), Floral Hareem Trousers €3.00 (Jumble Sale), Pink Belt (Oxfam), Mint Green Trainers £7.99 (H&M), Bracelet (Primark), DIY Sunglasses £2.03 (DIY Coming Very Soon!)

The grey one is my favourite top of the two. I really like the grey colour as it is sort of marbley. I also LOVE the french pug! It’s not just printed on, it is sewn on so it looks a lot better and feels much better quality, and is obviously going to stay put! There was one thing I did find with the French Pug T-Shirt, is that around the edges of the pug was a sort of brown-ish orange colour, which I thought perhaps was to do with ironing, but I really don’t think it matters too much. The fabric is very soft, and feels very strong and durable, yet nice and light, and I would say it is like Topshop quality, so pretty darn good! I like how it doesn’t fit perfectly, so it feels more comfy and it also looks great tucked into baggy trousers like these ones. Mixing it with the trainers makes it feel casual and preppy, and I really like the feel of that style. It will be perfect for summer where I live, as it will be light and comfy rather than something that sticks to my body and makes me feel gross! I also love the rolled up sleeve detail, because it makes it feel a bit more ‘styled’ and edgy. Pretty much, I LOVE THEM! I would also style the Pink Pug T-Shirt with a midi skirt and a the same shoes, for a more girly look, which I am sure you will see on this blog one day soon!

Not For Ponies is a pop-inspired lifestyle brand.  Everything is designed and hand made by them in their Manchester based studio. They have become well known for their quirky applique T Shirts and Sweaters, and have been featured in National Magazines such as Company, Reveal, Heat, Now, Closer, Bella, Mizz (Tolly Dolly Posh is featured in Mizz this tomorrow! – May 16th), Shout and Love It. They are inspired by all kinds of weird, whacky, cute and quirky graphic imagery and are fuelled by Earl Grey Tea and Hobnob biscuits. Their stock caters for Women, Men and Children in a variety of sizes, and XS or XL sizes can be made up! (Like I had done for me!)

Side Note: I would just like to thank all my readers who have supported me over the past week. I can now say that on the 29th May, I will be leaving France to London, because of YOU! You are getting me tho the Company Magazine Style Blogger Awards! Thank You!

(I am very grateful that Not For Ponies sent me 2 of their products to review. 100% of the words above are true, and are no way edited for the sake of having free products. I wish Not For Ponies a very enjoyable year!)

TDP Wishlist*: John Lewis Home & Garden

By May 13, 2013 DIY & Lifestyle, Wishlist

I don’t usually do Lifestyle posts on here, but I thought I would change it up!  If I do re-decorate my room, I usually have a browse round John Lewis Home & Garden section, as it always seems to have some really cute things! So, I thought I would make a Wishlist!

john lewis home garden wishlistJohn Lewis Logan Flannelette Duvet Cover in Red From £30.00, Talking Tables Truly Scrumptious Straws £4.00, Talking Tables Pink ‘n’ Mix Paper Straws in Pink £4.00Pioneer Drinks Dispenser in Bright Opal £15.00, Wall’s Twister Plate £5.00 & Little Home Abbey Elephant Cushion £15.00 (All from John Lewis.)

Duvet Cover:If I ever re-design my room, I think I want to go for a more simple style because at the moment, let’s just say it’s a little bit… ‘busy’. I’m not really a red person, but I think the stripes make it a bit nicer. I also like the cream colour on it, because it makes it bit less harsh than white.
Straws: These are just too cute! Look! They’re paper, and stripey! I could imagine using these for a BBQ in summer, or just for a nice addition to the dinner table!
Drinks Dispenser: Living in the South of France, there is a LOT of wine around, and in the shops, you see wine held in dispensers, which I think is pretty cool! It’s practical, it also looks cool, and it’s just more fun! Now, I am not going to be drinking any wine, but I think it would be nice to keep fresh juice in or just to put water in! Fun, pratical and cute!
Twister Plate:I LOVE TWISTERS! I seriously LOVE them, so it is not surprise that this is on my Wishlist! I wouldn’t get all of them, as for £5 it is quite a lot, but for a cool present, I don’t think you can go wrong!
Cushion:Now, I am not a child (well I am, but you get the idea), so don’t think I love kiddy things, I don’t. BUT! This cushion is soooooo cute! It has an Elephant on it! And it’s pink.. and red! It maybe from Little Home at John Lewis, but I am still putting on my list!

So, whether you’re looking for BBQ skewers, or a cute throw for your new bedroom or perhaps some pretty cushion covers, you should definitely check out the John Lewis Home & Garden section! It’s pretty cool!

My Style: Chin Up Buttercup….

By May 7, 2013 Fashion, My Style

I don’t want this blog to become fully a personal style blog, but I do want to involve my style a bit more. I really enjoy doing these post and I get more feedback on these than any other post, so I guess I better do more! Please tell me in the comments if you want to see more! Okay, well maybe a week isn’t too long, but to me IT IS! Papa Posh said that this dress wasn’t really me, but for €2.00 I couldn’t really say no! He was right, as I am not really a girly-girl, pretty dress kinda gal, but I think the way I have styled this makes it a totally different piece. The denim and my Dr Martens make it a lot more edgier and tougher, but the length of the dress still shows the flirty side of it. I really love the two pops of colour through the belt and the socks too! I think if this dress was any longer I wouldn’t have bought it as this length is perfect! Also don’t my Dr Martens look AWESOME?! (I think so anyway…) They look a bit green in the pictures, but hey ho! I am going to wear this outift a lot as the weather warms up!
I will have some pictures of some cupcakes we made the same day soon! I didn’t want to put them in with this post, otherwise it would have been ridiculously long!

How To Shop at Jumble Sales

By May 4, 2013 DIY & Lifestyle, Fashion

As you know recently, I have been going to quite a few a lot of jumble sales recently. It’s not because my family are hoarders, it’s because you can really find some gems in the mix of things! The ‘high street’ shops where I live, really are not to my taste, so I find going to a few ‘Vide Greniers’ is worth it. 55I thought I would teach you how to shop at them! This isn’t for just French ones, it can be useful tips for the classic Car Boot in the UK, or a Garage Sale in the US. Take them and see if they work for you! (Also I would just like to say a BIG thank you to everyone who voted for me in the Style Blogger Awards, lets just hope we get a good outcome! *Fingers Crossed*)

how to shop at jumble sales, charity shops, vide greniers garage salesA Vide Grenier in the Midi Pyrenees!

Ignore Sizes & Genders: Yes, you read it right! At Jumble Sales most things will be old sizes, perhaps sizes from the 60s, 70s, etc which are different to sizes now! If you’re a size 8, don’t just look for a size 8! Something a bit bigger might look good baggy, and something a bit shorter might look cropped! Ignoring genders is also key! If you pick something up which is mens (or womens) and you like the look of it, buy it if it’s cheap!

Ask the prices: If you see something you like the look of, ask for the price! Even if it is way out your budget, or you may not ever wear or use, just ask! You never know, those old pair of vintage brogues might only be £2!

Make Do & Mend: I’m not saying do what they did in the war, but if you see something which perhaps is a bit tatty, or has a few holes, or is a bit too long, take it for a cheap price and change it up! If a skirt has a weird hem, add some lace to it! You would prefer that top with a peter pan collar? Add one! It’s cheaper than buying it new!

Haggle: If something is £7, ask for it for £5! £2, ask for it for £1! £15, ask for it for £10 or somewhere in between. Don’t worry! The worst thing that will happen is that you will get it for full price!

Take a chance: Getting back to ignoring sizes, if you don’t try something on, don’t worry! If it’s 50p and doesn’t fit, that really isn’t going to break the bank is it?!

Look out for DIY items: What I mean by this is, if there is an old box of necklaces, ask how much they would take for the whole lot. That box would be great for DIYs, as you can break of the beads and sew them onto things, or even make bracelets and other bits and bobs out of them! They’ll probably only take a fiver, so grab the chance!

Look up local Jumble Sales: Whenever we want to go out we always make sure we check out if there are any on. Even if you get there and they are packing up, or it’s the smallest ever, it might just be worth it. We sometimes get to ones, and they are all through the village!

I hope these tips were helpful! Even if you think you know how to ‘shop’, I think it’s good to know a little bit more from other people. Jumble Sales are great places for fashionista’s and, people wanting to re-vamp their style for less! (I sound like Gok Wan!) If you follow me on Instagram (TDPosh), you will be able to see what bargains I find! 🙂
