The Nail Polish Rack: Sparkling Blue Skies

By March 14, 2013 Beauty

*NEWS FLASH* Tolly is actually carrying on with a post series! Amazing! Yup! I’m back with my second post in this series (you can read the first one here), and this time it is a nail polish look which I have been all over this week! I was looking through the nail polish drawer, and pulled out two colours which look so good together! Here they are…

Bourjois One Seconde Polish Review Bourjois One Seconde Polish ReviewThese colours are so beautiful! I really like what they look like together. It’s surprising that they do, because I usually HATE glittery polishes. This Bourjois One Seconde polish is so nice! The brush makes for an easy and neat application, which means even my right hand (I’m a righty!) looked good, which was pretty cool! The brush is a fan effect brush, which means it spreads out to the width of your nail. It says that is a Gel finish, but I wouldn’t say it is, it is quite tough though, and when it chips it doesn’t chip flakey. The Hello Kitty polish has an ordinary brush, which is okay because it’s just a top coat, so it shouldn’t show up too much if you go wrong. This polish isn’t really ‘glittery’ like ‘sequin-y’ (?!) but, it’s almost foil like? It shows up like little tiny pieces of foil on the nail, which creates a soft sparkly look. I think this is great if you want a nice girly, but fresh look, but also want to look quite ‘smart’. As you can see both polishes together, actually makes the blue slightly lighter, as the Hello Kitty polish has a slightly creamy coloured polish in it, but it is still very see through. I really think this look will be great for spring, but could also work in the snowy months of winter!

Make sure to buy the Telegraph this Saturday, and read the magazine, as I am featured in it! Please make sure to tweet me a picture when you’ve found me, as I won’t get the issue for about a week or two! You lucky duckies! Rimmel London & MUA Nail Polish Review

By January 9, 2013 Beauty

PolishReview1MUA Frozen Yoghurt, Rimmel 625 Sir Yes Sir, 320 Rapid Ruby & 315 Ready Aim Paint.

My favourite colour is probably Frozen Yoghurt, but I prefer the actual finish and brush of the Rimmel ones. The Rimmel ones have flat brushes, and they dry in 60 seconds, and that’s not a joke, they really do.

PolishReview6320 Rapid Ruby – Rimmel

This colour is quite dark, but you can make it quite light by either, applying only 1 coat, or by using a white base coat. I think this colour is really good for winter, and makes me think of the OPI Skyfall collection, because I think it would be suitable for the collection.

PolishReview7315 Ready, Aim, Paint – Rimmel

This colour is very bright. It looks kind of orangey/pinky in this picture, but it’s not, it’s just a very bright red, which I quite like, and I think I will be using this colour a lot in Spring. The only thing wrong with this colour, is that it is quite thin, and you do have to apply a lot for it to stand out, but that can darken it 🙁

PolishReview9625 Sir Yes Sir – Rimmel

This colour is quite a brown shade of purple, but it looks really nice. I think I will use this when I wear my lace skater skirt, because it would be nice pop of colour, without it being too bright.

PolishReview10Frozen Yoghurt – MUA

This colour is so sweet! It’s more blue than purple, but it’s got quite a dark undertone, so it’s no too bright. I really like it, but it’s quite thin. I also don’t really like the brush compared to the Rimmel one, but that’s to be expected when it’s a lot cheaper.
