Fast Food Fashion: A Side of Fries*

By May 13, 2015 My Style

If you were here on my blog fairly recently, then you’ll know that I have started a mini series of fast food fashion inspired outfits! Last year I did a post on a few of my fast food fashion purchases, so I’m finally styling them up! This is part 2, so make sure you catch up with part 1, here!

🍟 WHAT I WORE: Fryday T-Shirt (Adolescent Clothing)* // Fries Necklace (Chelsea Doll – Now closed)* // Tulle Skirts (Oxfam) // Shorts (Jumble Sale) // Fries Socks (Kylie @ M&Co)* // Leopard Slap-On Watch (Slappie)* // Jelly Shoes (Supermarket) 🍟

So this outfit is all about the fries… or chips, whatever you want to call it! I’m actually pretty happy with it too! It’s a lot more fun and colourful, don’t you think? Anyway, I knew immediately I needed this Adolescent Clothing t-shirt… it’s such a same this post wasn’t up on a Friday… I mean, FRYDAY? Duhh! 🍟

In my opinion tulle skirts go perfectly with oversized tops. They’re that little bit of something special that make your outfit look like you actually made an effort to get dressed. Plus, if you wear shorts underneath like me, then if you get fed up of them, you can whip them off and totally change your outfit! Yay!

In terms of accessorising and pulling the fast food outfit together, I went for my awesome fries necklace. I think because I never usually wear red, I tend to leave this one hanging up, but now I’ve styled it like this, I kinda’ like it! Unfortunately I’m not sure you guys can actually purchase this anywhere online… but you can take a good look at it now… haha! Sorry… 🍟

Can we also talk swings? I knew I had to do these pictures at the park, and believe it or not (I literally had no idea until I edited these pictures) but the swings actually had matching red and yellow. How awesome is that? Matchy matchy.

And finally shoes… and a watch! I went for my nifty pair of supermarket jelly shoes because why not? They’re honestly the cheapest, most durable and comfortable pair of shoes I own. I honestly don’t care that people look at me funny for wearing beach shoes because they just don’t understand the comfort! They also look great with 🍟 chip 🍟 socks, so I’m not complaining!

For my watch, I’m wearing my new Slappie watch. It is in fact a slap-on watch. It’s super comfortable, it looks adorable and it even has an interchangeable watch face function so you can suit your watch to your mood. Pretty cool! I really like it, and the monochrome print is so me. What do you think?

Fast Food Fashion: The Main Course*

By April 27, 2015 My Style

If you remember last year, I did a blog post all about budget fast food fashion. If you’re not sure what that is exactly then take a look at Moschino AW14′. It’s the collection that started it all off, and ever since so many brands have been taking inspiration. Now, I don’t want to promote unhealthy eating here, but I’ve decided to take that post a step further and make it into a mini series of outfits inspired by each part of the meal; the main, side, drink and dessert. So, as you can probably tell from the title of this post, today is all about the main course… aka. BURGERS! 🍔

🍔 WHAT I WORE: Stripey Top (Johnnie B @ Boden)* // Dungarees (Jumble Sale) // Burger Socks (Kylie @ M&Co)* // Burger Necklace (ASOS)* // Fast Food Badges (Claire’s) // White Dioon Vagabonds (Mastershoe)* 🍔

When I think red, yellow and green, I also think, blue and white, so I knew immediately that I had to pair all of these different colours together in this exact way. Instead of wearing Moschino rip-offs from eBay, I decided to think about the kind of Parisian girl who hangs out at chic diners and eats burgers with pastel pink milkshake in hand… well almost. I’m not sure McDonalds 🍔 really counts as ‘chic’ but you get the gist.

This Johnnie B top is one of those ‘throw it on and it will look perfect’ tops! Plus, if you’re not wearing dungarees to cover it up, the hem has a beautiful bit of lace detailing to add to the cuteness of it. If you don’t own a stripey top, please go out and get one. They should be a staple of everyone’s wardrobe (…okay if you don’t like stripes, I’ll let you off but they honestly look amazing on anyone)!

This might be weird to say but I actually feel like the simplicity sums up the whole 🍔 “fast food fashion” 🍔 idea; it’s a very simple concept and works will in terms of style and marketing. It shows how all parts of life can influence art and fashion itself. It’s simple, “quirky” and all kinds of awesome. What are your thoughts on the idea?

Also, let’s talks denim. I’m obsessed with it right now. I never used to be so in love with it but again it’s just simple. It has that look of something different; colour but with a touch of texture. But even then it can be turned into texture with a bit of ripping and fraying. It’s a magical fabric and I want to embrace it some more!

The main part of this outfit being fast food inspired is the accessories. These socks were in the original blog post and they worked really well here. I was worried that this necklace from ASOS 🍔 would clash with the colours, but it worked with a bit of help from some fast food badges (I mean, who can resist a 5 items for £3 deal at Claire’s? They came to sixty pence!). Oh and of course that Happy Meal… which unfortunately is now in my stomach. I mean, the gherkin’s healthy right? 😛
