My Style: See Through*

By September 13, 2016 My Style

It’s been quite some time since I’ve posted a fully fledged outfit post, My Style or ‘editorial‘, so before I crack on with fashion week content, I thought I’d keep you in the loop with what I’ve been wearing recently. I’ve been rediscovering old gems in my wardrobe, starting to transition into autumn and have been picking up some more second-hand treasures…

WHAT I WORE: Mesh Grid Top (Blue Vanilla)* // Grey Sheer Hem Slip Dress €6.00 (Jumble Sale) // Shark Purse (ASOS) // 1B99 Dr Martens (Mastershoe-MyShu)* // Rings (Various

The amount of colour I wear has definitely dropped by a fair amount in recent times, so I find myself gravitated towards darker pieces that are usually in minimalistic shapes, like this slip dress that I spotted on the back of a door at a jumble sale. I’m so glad it caught in the corner of my eye because it’s something I never knew I needed but is almost something I’ve unknowingly been looking for.

I think the location of its original home put me off at first (an old lady’s living room – so it was probably owned by an elderly woman before me), but I think that’s something that you have to look past when it comes to secondhand shopping, because really, if I hadn’t had mentioned it was secondhand – I totally could have pulled it off as a high street piece, right?

There’s just something so effortless about being able to literally slip it on, whether that’s on its own or layered on top of something…

…which is what I did, this time around, with an item I haven’t worn in a while. Due to its almost plastic texture, I don’t wear this mesh grid top very often, but I’ve kept it in my wardrobe for, as I mentioned, layering. The dress is slightly lower in the neck than I’d usually go, so if I’m in the need for covering up, adding a thin layer underneath which doesn’t take away from its fit can be quite useful. I also don’t want anything to take away from the straps, because they’re doubled up and it adds that touch of ‘sophistication’, I suppose.

I didn’t go completely colourless either! I know most people associate pastels with spring, but in my opinion, icy, cool tones work really well in the cooler seasons too… not that it’s particularly cool in Italy right now; I think my frizzy hair is a testament to the humidity!

I believe my way of accessorising this outfit is what caused people to stare at me in what I would class as a fairly ‘normal’ outfit (but who cares about normal, eh?). Yes, that is indeed a shark shaped purse. I’m not sure if I’ve featured it on my blog, but it was a gift from my brother and is one of those more wearable novelty items, even if it can barely fit my essentials in it. The grey matches up with the mesh floral print within the dresses hem, and the silver matches my rings because I’m officially a big ring person.

The ring on my left middle finger is now a permanent ring… I even have a tan line forming, and I’m quite intrigued to know how long it will be staying put for! Years, maybe?! My Dr Marten’s are also a fairly permanent fixture on my feet because the weather is cooler now, so I can get away with wearing them without my feet boiling out. Sad news, though; there’s a small bit of stitching which has come apart on the right zip, which is a shame because I haven’t even had them for a year yet! The first Dr Martens fault I’ve ever had! I’m definitely going to be getting in touch because that’s obviously a little sad.

How would you have worn this dress? What have you been wearing recently? Let me know in the comments!

When In Rome… 🇮🇹

By February 20, 2016 DIY & Lifestyle

Unfortunately LFW fell at a bit of an odd time for me to do London Fashion Blog Week this season, which is why this post has absolutely no reason to the great fashion month that has already kicked off. This post is a little lifestyle-y but with a small outfit thrown in too. My family and I traveled to Rome for a nights stay in an AirBnB (our first ever experience), so that my brother could go off and see Ronaldo do his thing against A.S Roma ⚽ and so I could go and take a look at some of those great Michelangelo paintings. So here are some pictures from the two days we were there…

WHAT I WORE: Black Faux Fur Coat (Jumble Sale) // ASOS Dip Dye Jeans (DIY) // Blue Mono Pascal Boots (Dr Martens) // Floppy Hat (ASOS)

I’ve actually been to Rome a few times before but I couldn’t really remember that much of it, so it was nice to really soak it all up. I especially loved the architecture, and how colourful it all was. Italians seem to love their painted houses and Rome was full of colourful buildings, especially in gorgeous muted pink tones… perfect for outfit snaps as you can see from above!

We were actually lucky enough to take a trip to the Vatican museum which takes you through the Vatican all the way into the Sistine Chapel. It was a really cool experience but definitely don’t go unprepared without a good pair of shoes… it’s a long walk! Some of the art work really is quite incredible and you’re lucky enough to be able to take photos which is quite rare (although not in the Chapel… they made that very clear).

WHAT I WORE: Black Faux Leather Biker Jacket (ARK)* // Geometric Maxi Dress (ASOS) // Floppy Hat (ASOS)

The paintings really are quite incredible, mainly because they’re all in such good condition. The Last Judgement really is quite spectacular… it’s huge and you don’t really get enough time to take it all in due to the fact that you’re crammed into the chapel with hundreds of other people (they really need to only let in a certain amount of people at one time). I’d recommend it though! The whole tour was definitely worth it, even if you’re not necessarily that interested in ART… to be able to say you’ve been around the Vatican is quite a statement.

There was also a Matisse exhibition showing which was exciting for me as I’m a big fan of his work…. a picture in front was of course obligatory. Excuse the messy hair… long days with long hair = frizz and mess… a hat is an essential item! There was also a collection of lots of different artists including Salvador Dalí, but sadly most people were just walking on past. Stop and appreciate it, people!

So I’ll talk a little about my outfit… I accidentally wore a combination that gives the illusion of blue knee high boots. Oops. It didn’t look so bad in real life, but in photos you could most definitely mistake my trousers for boots!

Talking of boots… I officially have four pairs of Dr Martens thanks to winning the Facebook page give-away they run every week. Definitely worth the two minutes of filling it out because now I have another pair in my collection!

Have you been to Rome? Where did you visit? Let’s chat in the comments!

My Style: A Glamorous Accessory…*

By November 12, 2014 My Style

YAY! It’s time for another OOTD! You guys just love these posts, so I’m glad I get to post them! I’m quite happy with these pictures again which is a good thing, but the even better thing is the fact that very soon I will have my hands on a new lens! So exciting 🙂 You guys give me the opportunity to improve my photography, and I’m so grateful. If you’re wondering, I’ve purchased the 35mm lens (I currently use a 50mm), and I couldn’t be more happy! Anyway, I hope you enjoy this post…

WHAT I WORE: Teddy Textured Jumper (Glamorous)* // Grey Structured Skirt (Glamorous)* // Metallic Dr Martens (Mastershoe My-Shu)* // Black Floppy Hat (ASOS) // Gold & White Necklace (Claire’s)* // CASIO Sheen ‘SHE-3030GL-5AUER’ Watch (Casio)*

Ever since this skirt and jumper combo slipped through the door, I have been obsessed. They’re both very autumnal, but they are so versatile and I can see myself wearing them all the way through the year. The jumper is this weird fuzzy, teddy bear material, which I think adds an awesome layer of texture and dimension to the outfit. The skirt has actually been on my radar for a while… I am in love with structured skirts, so when I saw this, I snapped it right up! The lining is actually a deep burgundy red colour, and looks awesome when it sneakily flashes in the wind (how can I right that without it sounding weird?!). I knew straight away what I was going to wear it with, and I think I nailed it (can I say that?)… and yes, I know… I’m wearing navy and black in the same outfit… somebody call the fashion police!

I thought I’d whack in a mini review in this post because I’ve always been intrigued by Glamorous. A while back they emailed me asking if I’d be interested in working with them, and it was a bit of a hassle, but finally (I mean like 4 or 5 months later), I’m here now, and I’m pleasantly surprised! My items arrived ship sharp with free delivery, which is pretty darn awesome! They both came packaged well and fit perfectly, so I would have to say I would definitely recommend looking into them, even after the hassle I had with them previously. I like to be honest on this little old blog, so there you go!

Let’s talk accessories though… a while back I was sent a bunch of goodies from the Claire’s Katy Perry PRISM collection, and to be quite honest I have only really gotten round to wearing the pieces now! I knew that as soon as my beautiful new watch arrived (more on that later), that I would be wearing this necklace non-stop! The colours match perfectly, even though the watch is actually rose gold (I know… ROSE GOLD). I think it’s the little touches that really make an outfit come together, and this outfit is full of them! Oh and look at my gorgeous Dr Martens making another appearance… jeez, I love these shoes SO much! They’re just perfect and fit my style so well at the moment. Cannot rate them enough! Don’t forget my  floppy hat too! I’m so glad I purchased it, as it’s been the best thing as the weather’s got cooler, love love love!

And finally, we have the main star of the show… my gorgeous watch from Casio Sheen! I’ve never actually been that much of watch wearer, but after receiving this, I think I maybe converted. I think one of the main reasons is because I am very slim, I have to reach for the teen/tween style ones which are just a bit too young for me, and not really up my street, because they tend to fit a bit better. I was worried this wouldn’t fit, but to my surprise, it actually fits like a glove! It has a different clasp than usual, but it makes wearing it a whole lot more comfortable. Although it is a bit of a pricey piece, it truly has made me fall in love with the whole ‘arm candy’ thing. It’s just right, it’s not too showy, or too simple, and the rose gold just tops it all off.

Are you a watch person? Have you tried out Glamorous? Let me know in the comments! I love hearing your thoughts 🙂

My Style: Tennis Court & Dr Martens*

By September 24, 2014 My Style

Eeeee! I am so excited to share these pictures with you! Yesterday we found an old abandoned tennis court (it was at the top of a weird path at the top of a hill), and my outfit seemed to fit the setting really well and it came out with a really cool urban/grunge vibe. I’m really inspired by fashion editorials and the way they are done at the moment so sorry for the photo spam! I really hope you like these as much as I do! 😀 If you want to see where everything is from etc, scroll through the pictures to the end…

What I Wore: Cool Kids Club Sweatshirt (ASOS), White Star Print Blouse (Jumble Sale), Pleated Skirt (H&M Girls), Socks (FOX) & Dr Marten Pascal Mirror Shift Suede Boots (Mastershoe-MyShu)*

Dah-dah! I’m just SO pleased with how the photos came out! I don’t care if that sounds vain, but it’s just exciting when something comes together, especially when it’s spontaneous! I also absolutely love this outfit too, it’s quite autumnal I suppose, but it feels right now that the leaves are changing. You might recognise this jumper from my LFW outfit ideas… I finally caved in and purchased it after I found a 20% off code, hooray! I adore it.

I also adore my new Dr Martens… they’re SHINY! They’re beautiful. They’re the kind of iridescent metallic that looks different at every angle, I’m actually obsessed and can’t stop looking at them all the time. I highly recommend visiting the Mastershoe-MyShu website also, because they have a fabulous range of shoes, and loads of brands… plus they are super lovely, supportive people too. May I add that the socks I am wearing are the best kind of socks for Dr Martens, ever. They’re not too thick or too thin, just perfect!

What do you think of this outfit and this kind of post? Did you like the pictures? Let me know in a comment below, I love to know your thoughts! 🙂

Dr Martens 1460 Pascal White Wild Poppy Boots*

By April 3, 2014 My Style

What’s up people? I actually had to look up other ways to introduce blog posts because I think ‘Hello everyone’ can get a bit repetitive. Wow, #bloggerproblems at an all time low. Anyway, the actual reason of this post is for me to do my full review of my precious Dr Martens, the 1460 Pascal White Wild Poppy Boots to be exact. I absolutely love them so I thought I would tell you what they are like comfort, style and practicality wise!

dr martens 1460 pascal white wild poppy boots mastershoe myshuDr Martens 1460 Pascal – White Wild Poppy £79.99 (Mastershoe MyShu)*

I am obsessed with these. They are literally perfect in every shape and form. They arrived in a lovely box from Mastershoe MyShu, and I couldn’t have been more happy! I already have a black sort of grey metallic pair which are perfect and I love them, but these were just the cherry on the top. I got them in the same size as my other pair which is a Size 5 as I do think they come up quite big. I’m more of a size 5½ or a 6, but these fit like a glove. Because they weren’t worn in like my other pair, they are SO much more comfortable and I have to say… I would probably recommend getting new Dr Martens than old ones!

The print on these though. WOW. They are honestly perfect. They’re like the nicest floral print for all seasons. I could definitely see myself wearing these in the winter with nice thick tights and a plain black dress. They also make me feel like I have stepped out of Tumblr… I think that feeling will grow even bigger when I wear them with shorts. Oh my I cannot wait!

The leather is super super soft, and makes wearing these so comfortable. I’m usually one to say you need to wear thick socks with Dr Martens, but with these, it’s probably not a necessity! I get away just fine with wearing sport socks in these, which is good news for summer 🙂 We also cannot forget the ‘Bouncing Soles’. These soles are… AMAZING! Honestly cannot believe how comfortable these are to walk in, they are cushioned and cosy. I’m also a big fan of the tag on these, the colour is nicer than the normal black tag in my opinion! …am I the only one who has to have the tag in view when wearing DMs? It just feels wrong not to!

I think I should also talk about price when it comes to these bad… girls…? (In my opinion, these are not male in-animate objects)… I would actually say the price is pretty darn reasonable. Some DMs can hit the £150 mark, so these are like a bargain! For the comfort and style, you are definitely paying for a good pair of shoes, and they are sure to last you a good time! Plus postage at Mastershoe is FREE for the UK, and no more than £10 for the Rest of the World, which I don’t think you can say not to!

I thought I would hit on a tip for any Dr Marten bargain hunters. It might seem obvious but when looking for 2nd hand pairs or a good price on eBay somebody might give you a rip off! The way to check is to look at the sole and see whether it has the stamp on the bottom. If not, then you are getting a cheap pair! The real deal is always best 😉

dr martens 1460 pascal white wild poppy boots mastershoe myshuSee how I style up my Dr Martens in this OOTD!
