MUA Artiste Collection Review

By January 6, 2013 Beauty

For Christmas I got given the new Artiste Collection by MUA, which was actually free, but I was still very grateful 😉 Haha. So, here’s my review! (Sorry about the pictures, my arm looks really creepy…)

MUAArtiste1 MUAArtiste2 MUAArtiste3(See what I mean about my arm?)

I am really sorry I didn’t take a picture of the Pink Sparkle, Primrose etc, as they are blushers and bronzers so I just left them out. Sorry! Haha. Anyway, the first thing I love about this set, is that it has a highlighter!! I have been wanting and wanting one, and now I do! It is such a pretty coulour! It is Shimmer Kiss the first colour on the last picture. It is so nice, and is very natural. The second thing I love is the iridescence of all the colours. The marble effect is so beautiful, but, unfortunately after using a couple of time, it kind of mixes together. I think my favourite eyeshadow colour is Pistachio, because it is really bright, but very soft at the same time. My favourite blush of the two, is probably Primrose. The blushes are very similar, but this one just has a slightly more natural undertone to it. I feel all the products go on like, creamy? They look very sharp, not all powdery, and for free, come on that’s pretty good?! The bad things are… the two brown shadows. I feel that these let the palette down, as they are very metallicy and if you’re trying to create a soft look, they can be quite harsh.

COLOURS: 8/10: Nice colours, but some are a bit too harsh.

FEEL & LOOK: 8/10: They look great, and feel very nice, not powdery at all.

OVERALL RATING: 8.5/10: For the price it is good. It includes a highlighter, and all the essentials.

Celebrity Style Captured: Miranda Kerr

By January 6, 2013 General

I was browsing around after my amazing Twitter Boom 🙂 (Thank You guys), and found Miranda Kerr wearing such a lovely outfit, I knew I had to do something with it. This look was worn by Miranda when she went out food shopping recently, so when you do pop into your local store, make sure you wearing this, and send me a message 😉 Would be great!

mirandakerrCSCJacket £29.99 (H&M), Dragonfly Viscose T-Shirt £35.00 (Oasis), Gold Jazz Tube Skirt £8.00 SALE (A Wear), SEATTLE Pointed Heels £25.00 (ASOS) & Bow Smart Bag £32.00 (ASOS).

This outfit is perfect for any Spring occasion. It is very feminine, but smart enough that you could perhaps wear it to the office with a bit of tweaking. The bag adds a more formal look to it, and is the perfect size to keep all your shopping essential inside. The shoes may not be exact, but they can be worn with many different outfits, and as they aren’t as pointed, most people can work them. If you’re afraid of going out with bare legs, wear a pair of skin colour tights to keep you from the chill! Or, just be brave 😉 (Hint, on a blog post coming soon…) The skirt is on sale at A Wear, so grab it whilst you can.

PRITCH London

By January 5, 2013 Fashion

PRITCH London is a new brand which mixes ‘rock harmony and classic chic’. I was told to go and check PRITCH out, and I actually quite like it! They are just coming along, so they need to get out there! You can see on their site that there are a few quick snippets of their collections, and also some nice pictures as well 🙂 They haven’t yet released their stockists, so you better be ready, because I think they’re gonna be big!

I think these pictures are really strong, and capture the brand perfectly. Plus, I just really like cool photography like this! 🙂

Vintage Fashion: 40s & 50s

By January 4, 2013 Fashion

PART 1 – At the moment I have a major obsession with Vintage Fashion. It’s partly because I watched Restless on BBC and I loved the whole look of the film. (You can see the post I did on that here.) But, it’s also because I watched Dark Shadows once again, last night, and found that I enjoyed the look of that too. I also really want to become obsessed with a TV Series because I feel I need to have something to look forward too in this time of boredom. (Yes, I still haven’t found a school, but we will do soon!) So, here’s a few pictures and things that I think are cool, and perhaps you will find inspiration from them too…

obsessions1and2

I think this picture kind of sums up the 40s style, because it shows the elegance that the women still had during the war, it also shows the simplicity during the time, because of lack of materials, and also the cost. I also love the Faux Fur hem, which is also quite in trend at the moment 😉

Obviously this picture is in style of the era, but I think it shows the people of this modern society that you can work the look in a nice classy way, without looking to Vintage. So, I decided to create an outfit, in style of this picture… but with a modern twist!

modern40s

Longsleeve White Shirt £22.00 (Topshop), Cotton Rich Knee Length Pencil Skirt £25.00 (M&S), Yellow Neon Strap High Heel Sandals £70.00 (River Island), Front Row Society ‘Keep Flowing’ Cotton & Silk Scarf £24.91 (Nord Storm), Miso T Bar Leather Gloves £8.00 (Republic) & Red and Black Colour Block Envelope Clutch £15.99 (New Look)

Like I wrote on the image, adding touches of neon adds that modern feel to the outfit. Also, add tones of light blues for a more vintage look as well. This skirt may not be the exact same feel, but it has the right colour to match.

Be sure to watch out for Part 2, where I will be doing some outfits on the 50s & 60s… including, Audrey Hepburn & Marilyn Monroe! *Oooh*

Menswear: Jules

By January 2, 2013 Fashion

Today, I was out and about in a near city (Albi), and my sister’s boyfriend needed a jumper, so we looked at a few shops, and found Jules. Now, this shop isn’t exactly amazingly different, but we all found it rather trendy for men looking for some smart, new clothes, at quite a reasonable price. So, here’s a quick look at the new collection for 2013 🙂 Plus, some of my favourite men’s pieces…

Colour Block Jumper €35.99, Button Jacket Cardigan €49.95 & Fantasy Jumper €29.99.

I think my favourite is the Colour Block Jumper, I think it’s going to be very big this upcoming season, so guys, get thinking about that! But, I also love the Button Jacket Cardigan because you can make it work in loads of different ways, like, by adding a scarf, or a nice blue shirt, for a casual look and more smart look.

Chino €44.95, Slim Trousers €49.95 & Straight Jean €49.99.

My favourite pair of trousers, is probably the ones in the middle. They have sort of a metallicy shine to them, and they can also be used in a casual way or a smart way. Wear boots for a casual look, and nice work shoes for a smarter look.

DIY: Lace & Sparkle Collars

By January 1, 2013 DIY & Lifestyle

Also for Christmas, I got a box full of old French lace, like proper old stuff from the junk shops you find. I ironed and pressed them, and then I knew what I was going to do. I have a checkered blouse from New Look (Generation) and it’s quite vintage looking, so I decided to add something else to it. So, this isn’t a tutorial, but it’s so you can some inspiration….

My box full of Vintage Lace, all nicely pressed…. there are so many varities of patterns and sizes to choose from! I even found an old not inside it! It said… (In French of course…)

Please may you give my husband 2m of this lace, and of this lace. Thank You.

Excuse the bad nails… and, this is just of me sewing…

I used cream cotton to sew as the blouse had the same colour in it anyway, so it worked well.

SPARKLE! (Sorry, I had to add the effect to it!) These are just basic long golden sequins, which were quite easy to sew on but very fiddly! You can get these from John Lewis (I find their Fabric section is great for bits and pieces) or any Arts store.

That’s what it looks like on… but here’s some more pictures…

Voila! The finished product! It took me about an 1 hour I would say, because some of it was pretty fiddly, but I did it all myself! YAY!

S/S 2013 Trends: Daisies

By December 31, 2012 Fashion

This upcoming year brings some trends which we may have not seen before, so I am here to keep you up to date! So here’s the first one: Daisies.

This trend is really easy to work, either go big with it with your accessories, or go big with a nice flirty dress 🙂 The above Prada look is really modern, but I guess you could play it the Vintage way, with a cute playsuit 🙂
