Alexa Chung, I’m Bored.

By February 7, 2013 Fashion

Alexa Chung is known for her style right? Alexa Chung is pretty much always in the weekily best dressed updates of magazines, but I want to know why? I would say that 60% of the time us #fbloggers and any other stylish chicks, look way better than her. No, 65%. No, 68%. I think you get it… (Image from Pinterest)

alexaFirst of all, let’s learn a bit more about Alexa Chung, shall we…

Born: 5 November 1983 (Age 29)
Height: 5ft 8.5in – Why do we need to know this? I actually, generally, do not know…
Hair Colour: Brown – Bit obvious.
Eye Colour: Green – I guess that’s not too obvious…
Shoe Size: 7 – Average.
Occupation: TV Presenter, Model & Contributor to British Vogue – Ooh, snazzy.
Modelling Agency: Next Models

So, I did know she models, but I didn’t know that she was actually a model, if you know what I mean? She’s almost 30, and she works for Vogue. It’s interesting actually, because I wouldn’t think of her as a celebrity, I would just think of her as someone who knows someone, who can get her into the ‘industry’. Anyway, that was just a little bite for your brain to take in, I’m here to talk about her style. I AM BORED OF IT. BORED. BORED. BORED. She’s just there to fill the gap when nobody else wants to ‘dress up’ for the magazines, but she doesn’t even dress up! She’s just there looking ‘Alexa-ish’ and doing her ‘ting. I mean look at the picture above, yes I agree that she is looking alright, but I don’t think that she looks amazing? What’s the big fuss about her being so stylish? Oh wait, it’s Alexa Chung, she always looks stylish… Nope. Not anymore, I am not going to agree with it anymore… and neither are you… I sent out a tweet saying ‘Alexa Chung – I just don’t get it, she’s just so ‘samey’.

Picture 3 Picture 4 Picture 5Picture 6I don’t want to blabber on about it too much, but I would like to know what you think? I mean, she’s not really anything special? Tell me what you think by leaving a comment below! I know I’m bored…. (I don’t mind if you love her style!)

Q&A with Lovely’s Vintage Emporium…

By February 6, 2013 Fashion

One of my gorgeous Fashionista’s of February is Lynette from Lovely’s Vintage Emporium, a Vintage Emporium run on the Isle of Wight (my old, old home town!), which also has a site and a blog.

1.    What inspired you to start your Blog? Mine is part of my vintage fashion online boutique Lovely’s Vintage Emporium and I included it on there as I want people to be able to come to the website not just to shop but also to have fun and be engaged. The blog covers all topics from the latest vintage looks to memories about chocolate bars eaten in the 1970s, top films of the 1980s, what supermodels used to wear and more. It is just a great place to come to for a good read.

2.    Why did you choose fashion? I have always been fashion obsessed and it made sense to set up a fashion website and fashion blog alongside it.

3.    What are you top tips on starting a Blog? Work out who your audience is – ie who you are talking to and then blog away! Only blog about what you love as then your ‘voice’ will come through. The best blogs are the authentic ones where you can tell the writer of the blog is totally into their subject and that way your readers will be too.

4.    What are your Blogging Targets for this year? I don’t have targets, I just hope people enjoy reading what I write.

5.    Who are your favourite fellow bloggers? I enjoy The British Beauty Blog, Liberty London Girl and Sighs & Whispers.

6.    What trend are you most looking forward to working, this S/S 13? Stripes, stripes and more stripes. I have already bought a vintage bold striped black and white shirt.

7.    Where’s your favourite place to grab a bargain and why? Well, as I am buying stock for Lovely’s Vintage Emporium all the time there is always something I end up keeping for myself so I rarely need to shop in any other way now. When in London I do always pop into Bang Bang on Goodge Street that has lots of seconds and vintage pieces. I sometimes shop online at The Outnet & Secret Sales.

8.    What’s your favourite piece of clothing, accessory etc that you have ever bought? My favourite is a vintage Ossie Clark red dress from Lovely’s Vintage Emporium.

9.    Who is your favourite designer and why? I love so many. My favourite is probably John Bates for Jean Varon a vintage designer from the 1960s-1980s as his dresses are just exquisite. The detailing on each one is so intricate and his designs were and still are so innovative. We do have a few left on the website (here).

10.   What’s your personal style and what do you do to work it? My style is definitely designer meets vintage as I like to mix it up. So I will wear some recent Stella McCartney black trousers with a vintage Halston top.

Picture 8If you want to appear in a post like this, visit the Advertise page and fill out the form! March is all about Make-Up! You can have a button in my side bar from just £1! Plus+ on your 3rd time round, you can get a discount if you use the Mini Dolly Package! Also, I my GOLD BROGUES SIZE 3 are still for sale! I would be looking for at least £8 but I am open to offers! Please comment if you’re interested.

Celebrity Style Captured: Katherine Jenkins

By February 2, 2013 Fashion

If you follow me on Facebook, you will know that I shared a picture of the stunning Katherine Jenkins on my page. I said I would do a Style Steal, so here it is!

katherinej

Textured Bodycon Dress £50.00 (Oasis), Leather & Bead Collar Necklace £15.00 (ASOS), Paul’s Boutique Lana Square Bowling Bag £65.00 (ASOS) & PIXIE Platform Peep Toe Shoes £25.00 (ASOS).

Most of us right now, probably can’t afford that Victoria Beckham dress which Katherine is wearing, so do it in 2 pieces. This Oasis dress is brilliant, it’s the same shape, but it is also slimming for everyone! Add this alternative collar from ASOS, you can always count on them for great things like this!

Don’t you just love Katherine’s hair? Gorgeous! But, actually Victoria Beckham is actually getting pretty annoyed with the amount of her clothes that Katherine is wearing. I think it’s great, if someone in the public eye was wearing my clothing (as well as myself), I would love it! Especially when she looks fabulous in the pieces!

What would you do if someone was ‘over wearing’ your clothes? Would you wear this outfit? Tell me in a comment below!

Posh Wosh Soap Review*

By February 1, 2013 Beauty, DIY & Lifestyle, Fashion

photo 1 photo 2Posh Wosh Soaps are handmade soaps which are suitable for Vegetarians, they are not tested on animals, and they are all Paraben Free. Their soaps are specially made as they keep in the magical ingredient which is Glycerine. Glyrcerine is moisturising on your skin, and many highstreet brands leave this out, which is why they say ‘don’t wash your face with soap, as it dries your skin out’, but Posh Wosh Soaps, won’t! Posh Wosh Soaps are also in expensive, which is unusual for handmade soaps, which is also brilliant! Their products are priced at £2.25, or £12 for 6 Soaps. They have Orange, Raspberry, Lemon, Coconut, Rose & Lavender.

The reason I started making my own soaps was because they look better, smell better and wash better – and for a small amount, I get to enjoy being “Posh” every time I “Wosh” – Anne Marie Gordon (Creator)

photo 3 photo 4I received 3 lovely bars of soap, here are the ‘Simply Raspberry‘ and the ‘Simply Coconut‘ bars. I love how they are wrapped, they are super cute, and simple! I would probably say they look a lot slicker and bit nicer to have in your bathroom, as with normal high street soaps, I feel they can be quite clumpy, and rather boring. The scent of them wrapped up, was literally amazing. My brother couldn’t stop sniffing them (and he’s a 19 year old, mountain biker), and neither could I, they seriously smelt divine! They are quite big in size, and I think I will get good use out of them.

photo 2 photo 3I’m not allergic to anything, but sometimes it’s good to know the ingredients of what you’re putting on your skin, as your skin is very delicate and should be looked after extra specially, but, in the Winter months my skin can become a little bit more sensitive, and I think all these ingredients look pretty good to me! And, knowing that the special moisturisng ingredient, of which is Glycerine, makes me feel like it is going to work a lot better!

photo 4 photo 5I also received the ‘Simply Lemon‘ bar, which I tested out, because I really want to save the others, as Coconut and any type of Berry are my favourite scents! When I was showering, I found that the scent actually became stronger as it mixed with the water, which is pretty cool! I found it was quite light on my skin, as in with other soaps they can be heavy and cloggy when you first apply it, but this one definitely wasn’t, it almost felt like I wasn’t putting anything on (but in a good way 🙂 ). I could tell it was doing its ‘soap’ job, because my skin started to feel lighter and obviously, cleaner. In one quick shower, I would say I used about a ‘line’ on the bar of soap (see above pictures), which is pretty good compared to ordinary soaps in which shrivel up to nothing within seconds. After washing, my skin felt quite soft and felt ‘happy’. I usually moisturise afterwards, to lock in the goodness, so that did take a little bit of the scent away, but I definitely didn’t smell ‘soapy’, which I like.

SCENT: 8/10 – They smell amazing before & during use.

AFTER USE: 7/10: My skin felt clean and nourished!

LOOK: 8/10 – Super duper cute packaging, would be great for a gift!

OVERALL: 8/10 – Would definitely recommend for people who are on a budget, but want good quality stuff! Plus, they are really friendly people!

Valentine’s Outfit & Gift Guide….

By February 1, 2013 Beauty, DIY & Lifestyle, Fashion

The other day I posted my Valentine’s Decoration Inspiration post (ha, that rhymes!!), and I said I would do an outfit post, so here it is! I have also thrown 2 gift guides, 1 for her, and 1 for him…

valentineBlack & White Spot Print Shirt £25.00, Pink Heart Print Skater Skirt £18.00, Monochrome And Fluro Bow Hair Clips Pack £8.00, Cream Stud Toe Buckle Ankle Boots £25.00 & Gold Tone Diamante Collar Tips £8.00 (All from River Island).

I am seriously, officially, in love with this outfit. I am sorry, but don’t you just think it’s gorgeous? *Yeah*. I think the skirt is super duper cute! It goes well with the monochrome spotty blouse, because the two prints definitely compliment each other! (It’s a Print Romance!) Add a pop of colour with these gorgeous hair clips, either have one in the side or create a French Plait and clip them in a line down the back. These boots are also gorgeous and will add a more casual feel to the look. I think also adding collar clips just finishes off the outfit, and I am sure your date is going to fall in love with you, and you’ll live happily ever after…. *aww*…. Sorry, about all the cheeseyness 😀

valentinesValentines Gold Love in Red £20.00 (Francesca Pina), Urban Decay Naked 2 Eyeshadow Palette £36.00 (Debenhams), Love Birds iPhone Case £32.00 (iAlbert), Bee Doorknocker Earrings £15.00 (ASOS), Ted Baker Flocon Summer Bloom Shopper £35.00 (ASOS) & Set of 3 Lavender Bags £10.00 (Cath Kidston).

I don’t want to blab on, but I will say that if you want me to do a Review/Styling of the Ted Baker Shopper, I have a pink version, so please leave a comment stating that you do want me to do a post!

valentines2Fuel For Life From £32.50 (The Perfume Shop), Brown Lace Up Brogue Worker Boots £40.00 (River Island), How To Speak Wookie Book £12.50 (ASOS) & Diesel Leather Wallet And iPhone 4 Giftset £85.00 (ASOS).

If you’re wondering why I put lots of Diesel stuff, and a random Star Wars book is because I love most of the Men’s Diesel stuff (for Men, I don’t personally use any of it!), and I thought the book was really cute and quirky, I don’t actually like Star Wars.

To be quite honest, I don’t think I really know one person who actually believes truly in Valentine’s day. Yes, they may get each other a card, and perhaps go out for the evening, but really, it’s just to fit in with the event. Personally, I think that Valentine’s Day is just a commercialised day in which the sales in chocolates, cards, underwear (haha), and flowers go up. It’s also the day in which children at school (excluding myself) believe that they have found their true love forever and ever. Then the next day your dumped. LOL, it’s the reality of school!

Tell me what you think about Valentine’s Day, and also what you’ll be doing to ‘celebrate the day’, by leaving me a comment…

Design #3

By January 31, 2013 Designs, My Style

design3These 2 Designs are inspired by Katy Perry, David Bowie, The S/S 13 Print Trend & The S/S 13 Slogan Trend.

I love designing fun things, and this playsuit is so cute! I would love it to be a denim one, with a slightly faded ombre effect. I would also like the mini sweets to be diamantes so they add a bit of glitz to the look. This would definitely be for summer, and I would probably want to make a little longer if it were produced. The second look is quite the opposite. I love black t-shirts with prints and slogans on, and I think this is really cool! I would quite like the ‘spring’ to be a metallic black, and the red of the B also a metallic red. The shorts are inspired by David Bowie with the lightning bolt, and I would like them to be a brown/grey colour, so they are not to similar to the top. I think if they were also a running short they would be good for people who want to exercise but also for people who just want some stylish sporty clothes for summer.

I would very grateful if you did not use or take my designs for your own use. I hand draw them myself, and then put them threw Photoshop. I hope you like them, and that you respect that they are mine.

See all my other designs here.

What do you think of these designs? Do you think you could wear them? How would you accessorise them? Please leave a comment telling me what you think!

WHAT I WORE:River Island Sleeveless Top, Primark ‘Cheryl Cole Style’ Dress, New Look Aztec Top (Underneath), White Trousers (Not sure where from), Claire’s Sunglasses & €1 Charity Shop Sanstone Walking Boots.

If you’re wondering where I got my Jumbo Hairspray (Fake) Bottle from, well, I made it! My mum had these big cardboard things which were for holding some clothes moth protectors, and I thought I would make something of it! I use paper mache, then sprayed it gold, and then just added everything else! I would love it if L’Oreal were to release one of these, it would solve all our ‘not enough spray’ worries! Also, do you like my GIF? I thought it would add the something extra to my OOTDs… 😀

What were you wearing today? Do you wear Walking Boots as a fashion statement? What’s your best bargain?
