Vera Wang Charges Customers to Try On Dresses

By April 4, 2013 Fashion

Yes, you read it correctly, US fashion designer Vera Wang is charging her Shanghai customers to try on her dresses. A new charge of £320.00 (3,000 Yuan), has been made to anyone who wants to try on the exclusive designs. This is because of fraud in the area, and also to stop any damage to the designs. The charge will buy the customer a 90 minute slot to try on dresses, but if they do not buy anything, they will not get refunded, only when they purchase an item, will the £320.00 be deducted from sale price. (Image via Pinterest)

I found this ridiculous. I am happy that they are trying to protect the designs from damage, but this whole ‘fraud’ thing, is going to happen anyway? In fashion, fraud is one of the biggest threats, it happens every season in all the new collections. Trends are fraud, as someone has to start it? I know it’s not literally the same thing, but I seriously cannot get my head around the fact that Vera Wang is charging £320.00 for somebody to try on a dress. People who go into designer stores, will have the money to go in a shop, they won’t just go into a shop and frantically try on dresses like they do in ‘the movies’. I would say there is even a ‘designer etiquette‘ through out expensive brands. For example, before christmas I was walking around Toulouse, and spotted a Louis Vuitton store.

My first thoughts were, RUN!! I ran over to the shop window, and gazed at all the handbags in the window, way out of my price range, but as 12 year old fashion blogger who pretty much looks at clothes everyday, I had to have a peak, inside the shop. I walked in quietly with mum behind. As usual there was a man at the door who was making sure the ‘etiquette’ ran in order. There were 2 ladies at the counter, who said hello (Bonjour to be precise), as I turned around they looked me up and down, and it was very awkward, as they knew that I was here just to look and not buy. I went over and looked at some other bags, which to my surprise were actually quite nice! (I’m not the biggest fan of Louis Vuitton, I fell into the label trap! Naughty Tolly!) Mum was rushing me to get out because she said it wasn’t the sort of shop to just look round, which was right, it wasn’t. Which brings me back to Vera Wang. I expect they do get quite a lot of #fangirls coming in, just like I did, but the majority of people are going to people who know what they’re going in for, so why charge them? It’s not like the shop is getting Primark amount of people a day?!
My answer is simply money, to be honest of course it’s annoying when somebody rips a hole in a dress, but a big brand like Vera Wang, do they really need another £320.00?

Do you think there should be a charge? Would you go and try on a dress again? Make sure to tell me your thoughts in a comment below!

An Exclusive Interview with Daniel Sandler

By April 1, 2013 Beauty, Fashion

Over the past month or two, I have had the most amazing support from Daniel Sandler, he has really boosted my motivation about carrying on with my dream. He has been brilliant! (Thank You!) I asked him whether he would answer some questions for the blog, and he was happy to answer them! I was so thrilled, and I am so very grateful! Daniel Sandler is a Make-Up Artist who has his own Make-Up Brand. His Make-Up is worn and used by people like Pixiwoo, Tanya Burr and thousands of other people. His Brand has won many awards including ‘Cosmo Awards for Best Blusher & Best Brushes‘ and ‘Cosmetic Executive Women Award‘ for his Lipstick in the Beauty & Lifestyle Brand Category. (Images courtesy of Daniel Sandler)

dan4

What is it like working in the beauty world, and what is the hardest thing about it?: Because I love cosmetics and helping women of all ages to look their best, the beauty world is perfect for me to work in. Makeup empowers women to look how they really want to which helps them feel confident. The hardest thing is telling someone that the makeup they love to wear doesn’t compliment them or is badly applied.

What’s been the best thing you’ve done so far in your career?: Creating my brand Daniel Sandler Cosmetics but I have also visited some exotic and beautiful places when I was a jobbing makeup artist on fashion shoots. I was privileged to enter into luxurious private homes or fabulous hotels and see the opulence in which some people live every day.

dan1

You have a product line which is used by thousands of people and top make-up artists such as Pixiwoo, wo would you like to see wearing your products the most?: My products are worn by anyone and everyone so I guess my dream would be for everyone to have at least one of my Watercolour Fluid Blushers in their bag.

What’s your favourite product from your own range?: My Watercolour Fluid Blusher as it’s unique and is my favourite product. A blogger recently named me the ‘Patron Saint of Blusher’ and I am delighted she picked up on the fact that I love blushes and contour. My favourite shade is called ‘So Pretty’ as it’s a shade that makes a girl look really healthy and glowing.

dan2

If you were to collaborate with another brand/make-up artist, who would you like to work with and why?: I guess MAC would be a brand I’d link in with because they would understand my philosophy and would be able to compliment it. I could see me working on a Diffusion Blusher range with them.

What are your views on airbrushing throughout the industry, do you think it should be banned?: Each make-up artist has their own technique and if they get the result then that’s a good thing.

What is the best thing about working with make-up?: Being able to transform someone into something stunning has to be the ultimate buzz for me.

dan3

What is a must have for any working woman?: Products that last all day are essential because it means you don’t have to reapply them throughout the day.

What inspires you when you are creating a new look?: Mother Nature. The fish in a tropical ocean, or a beautiful butterfly or exotic birds have the most stunning colours all over them, which inspire me to put colours and textures together in a very different yet flatter way.

A quick fun question – If you were a super hero, what would be your super power and why?: To me, a super hero is either a Doctor or a Surgeon. They are out there trying to make sick people better. It’s a great gift being able to help people continuing having a healthy life, and it’s definitely a power I wish I had.

Thank You so Much for answering all these questions Daniel! It was really interesting finding out more about the industry, and what inspires you. Maybe one day he’ll be doing my models make-up at LFW! That would be amazing! And those images? The make-up is stunning! Everybody should go and try out his products, or just take a quick browse! Go!

If you are feeling nice, I would be so grateful if you could nominate my blog as Best Teen Blog in the Company Style Blogger Awards. Please use the URL: http://www.tollydollyposhfashion.com (Nominations end April 10th)

Happy Birthday TDPFashion!

By March 29, 2013 Competitions, DIY & Lifestyle, Fashion, My Style

On March 29th 2012, exactly one year ago, the very first post of the Tolly Dolly Posh Fashion blog was published. It is now March 29th 2013, and I am proud to say, I have been blogging for one whole year. If you don’t want to read this post, don’t, because it is going to be filled with hundreds of Thank Yous, and lots of memories, so you are free to keep on scrolling down the page… (GIF via Tumblr)

cakeMy dream is to become a Fashion Designer as you know, and that is one of the reasons I started this blog. I don’t want it to be the only reason though, I don’t want it to be how I get ‘famous’. My plan in life is not to be famous, but to just be somewhere I am happy, and somewhere I am proud of myself. But, the blog has been the start of that, it’s the little seed that hopefully one day, will grow into a colourful flower, just like me. I’m only starting out my life too, I’m 12 years old, and I have still got an awful lot to learn. Again, my age isn’t something I want people to read my blog for. I want people to read it because they enjoy reading it. I want them to ignore my age whilst reading it, and then afterwards remember, that I am only 12. I hope that if you are a daily/weekly/monthly/yearly reader, that you do enjoy reading my blog, and seeing what I have accomplished in 1 year, I think, perhaps, just maybe, you might? So here’s the soppy, thank you part.

I don’t want to boast, this is about sharing the successes which you have made possible for me. Okay, okay, I have made some of it possible myself (I do write the blog, you know?!), but the only reason I can get recognised is because of all of you support me, and believe that I can reach my dreams. My first big achievement was being My Celebrity Fashion’s Blogger of The Week, which was awesome! Thank You to all the team at MCF! The next one was being on Superstar Fashion Network which has over 44,000 likes on Facebook, Thank You! I have also been on Wantering as a Trendsetter which was so amazing, as I had over 130 re-blogs on their blog which was mind boggling! Thank You!! I was also nominated for a MADs Blog Award for 2013, which was amazing! (Good Luck to the finalists!) As you know March 16th for me was another amazing day! I was featured in The Telegraph Magazine that was literally insane. I cannot thank Jessica Salter who wrote the article, enough. Thank You!! Then, to have woken up last Saturday morning, to receive an email saying BBC Radio 4 would like me to speak on the ‘iPM‘ show, just made my life even more complete! WOWZA! (Click the player above to listen!) And! In even more recent news (yesterday), I tweeted an illustration of David Bowie, and it was RTed & Instagrammed by Iman (David Bowie’s Wife) who is a Fashion Designer! Thanks Iman! In a couple of weeks time I have a pretty exciting thing happening too, which you may already know about… Yes, Tolly Dolly Posh is going to be featured in Mizz Magazine! In the very next issue (the exact date will be revealed soon), you will find my face! You may not be a teen, but I used to read this magazine (when I was in the UK), and my sister used to when she was my age too, so it really is awesome!
So far in ways of stats and followers, my PB for stats is 530 which isn’t much for some bloggers, but I literally do not care, that is amazing! I have built up over 920 Followers across Facebook, Twitter, BlogLovin’ HelloCotton, and GFC. Again, I seriously just want you to know, I don’t want to boast. I am just telling you that you have supported me so much through all of these amazing achievements.

photoUnfortunately, due to the fact that I am 12 and don’t have the biggest of budgets, I couldn’t do a massive give-away, but there has been one on! It’s a little thank you for supporting me and my blog as we go on our little journey! Congratulations to the winner!

The Winner of The Harts & Crosses Earring Give-Away is…
MIA! – Teenage Beauty Blogger

I will message you ASAP with details.

So, that is it! It’s been one whole year of blogging! It’s been a very successful journey so far, and I hope from here the road is up! Thank You for all your support, it really does mean the world to me, and I am 100% grateful for it all. I mean it! If you’d like to be an angel, and support me even more make sure to nominate my blog as Best Teen Blog in the Company Style Blogger Awards. TDP’s March Wishlist: Walking Down Avenue 32*

By March 25, 2013 DIY & Lifestyle, Fashion, My Style, Wishlist

Before the month ends I thought I’d share with you a few things that I have been really wanting this March! You can see February’s here! This is a designer Wishlist, and I obviously don’t have the budget for the products, but one can lust!

avenue32NO.21 Pink Lace Cotton Hawaii Tee £255.00, NO.21 Green Check Lace Shorts £315.00, Aperlai Yellow Flouro Python Gatsby Loafers £390.00, Michaela Buerger White Crochet Chiffon Jane Collar £340.00, Cutler and Gross Gold Oversized Tortoiseshell Sunglasses £340.00 & Rizzoli In Vogue £45.00 (Avenue 32).

Top: I am in LOVE with this top! It is really girly yet has that ‘surfer’ feel to it, which I think is going to be really big this summer. I think it would look great with a dip-hem maxi skirt, as well as a pair of shorts. Add a cute hat, and you’re set for a rockin’ summer!
Shorts: Again, I am so in love with these too! ‘City Shorts’ are going to be HUGE this S/S 13. The lace detailing gives them a more chic feel, and would look great not only with the Hawaii Tee, but also with a white blouse!
Loafers: These loafers are the cutest pair of loafers I have ever seen! I have never really liked the trend that much, but these have really caught my eye! They would look perfect with a Monochrome outfit or again with the top & shorts. The POP of neon, adds a casual and playful look to them.
Collar: The shorts have a lace detailing, so this would match them perfectly! It would make the outfit look really glamorous, but super casual. You could also wear it with a dip-hem LBD (Little Black Dress) and sandals, for a gorgeous seaside date!
Sunglasses: OMG. #WANT times 3 million. I need these in my life! After watching a YouTuber rock a similar pair, I have fallen in love with oversized round sunglasses. The zig zag detailing is super cool, and I have never seen anything like it!
Book: A must have for S/S has got to be a book! This book is great for any fashionista (like moi), who wants to sit back, relax and gaze at pretty pictures from Vogue… sounds like a good deal to me!

Avenue 32 have such awesome stuff, which I think all of you should go check out! Some of the stuff is so gorgeous, and if you’re thinking of spoiling yourself, you should go take a walk down Avenue 32! Enjoy!

(This is a * marked post. This is a sponsored post. None of the links above are affliate links, but I may have been gifted/payed to do the post before hand. I chose all the products myself, and I really do love them all!)

If you think that my blog is worthy of being shortlisted for the Best Teen Blog award, please nominate me in the Company Style Blogger Awards. Use the URL: http://www.tollydollyposhfashion.com Thank You.

S/S 13 Mini TDP Design Collection

By March 24, 2013 Designs, Fashion, My Style

*Deep Breath* After yesterday’s excitement of being on BBC Radio 4 (click the link to listen), I thought I would post a few designs. I haven’t posted any designs in a while, I’m sorry. I’ve been so busy recently, but now I have had a few moments to just chill, do some drawings, and show them to you! I decided to put together a ‘Mini Design Collection’ for S/S 13. It includes 5 designs, which I think would be perfect for Spring time!

SSdesign1BATHING SUITS & COVER UP: I really love mixing purple and bright colours together, because purple isn’t that dark, but it is sometimes quite hard to make it look right. I think adding a mix of florals to it, is one of the ways to make it look fabulous! I didn’t go with the classic triangle bikini top because I believe that they aren’t very practical. Especially for smaller girls who perhaps don’t have the biggest of… well, you know where I’m going. I also think the ‘bandeau’ style is more comfortable, and will also look great with a cardigan and a pair of shorts. For the one piece, I went for a classic style, but with the same print, because I think it’s good to have 2 of everything but in slightly different styles in your closet, then if you feel like covering up a bit more, you can with the costume! Speaking of covering up, I don’t know whether you can see but on the right, there is a pale lavender see through cover-up on top, again with the floral print. I want the flowers to be more opaque, so that they stand out more. (I admit, this may not be perfect for the weather at this precise moment. Unless you want to turn into an ice cube…)ssdesign2SEQUINS, OMBRE & WHITE JEANS: My first design I posted to you, I included a yellow maxi shirt, which a lot of you really liked (Thanks!), so I decided to do another one, but a ombre version. I really want this pinky/purple to be my classic ‘TDP’ colour. I have also added the belt the same but in a blue, which ties up with the bralet. I was thinking of keeping it just the bralet and the skirt, but I decided that I would add the same pale lavender see through fabric, as a top underneath. The bralet is covered in coloured sequins which I think could either be worn with a leather jacket, or as a nice piece for the beach. On the right, the same see through top is used, you may think its opaque because of the skin tone, but it is the same. The trousers would just be plain white denim, with the ‘T’ initial on the back pocket. This may look like a very basic design, but if I were to do more detailed drawings, I would try and include a little surprise which would make it extra unique.SSdesign3FLORAL & SEQUIN SHOULDER DRESS: This would be my more ‘exciting’ design of the mini collection. It mixes together all of the designs. The floral print makes it great for an evening dress, but I would make the shoulders detachable, so it would also be great for casual wear. The sequin shoulders mean they match the bralet, and also add a bit of glitz to the design. You have to have glitz! If I were to choose a celebrity to wear this at an awards, I would probably choose, Kelly Osbourne, because I think she would really suit it!
(By the way, I know that the colour swatches look like they have just come from a test page of a printer) Haha 😀

If I were to choose the make-up for the collection, I would go with a blue and green smokey eye, and a really nice blush colour. On the lips I would go for a really sheer and glossy coral colour, and with the hair, I would go for all of the above styles! For music I would go for Icona Pop – I Love It. It’s so catchy, and it has a really good feel to it!

VIEW ALL MY OTHER DESIGNS HERE

It would mean so much to me if you did NOT use these designs for your own use. I spend time and effort drawing each of these by myself. If you’d like to feature them for any particular reason please get in touch, through the Contact page. Thank You.

Again, if you missed my interview on BBC Radio 4 you can listen to it by clicking this link! It was an amazing experience and I’d like to thank BBC Radio 4, so so much!

Global Kids Fashion Week: Is it just too much?

By March 21, 2013 Beauty, Fashion

As a young child myself and possibly one of the youngest fashion bloggers, I thought that this post would be a brilliant thing to write about. As Fashion Weeks end for another season, we begin to forget about what has just happened, we begin to think about booking holidays (well, I am obviously not, I am only 12, remember?), swimming in the warm seas, and covering up with all the sun ‘screen’ that you look like an albino, but there is one thing which is definitely not on our minds! Kids Fashion Week. This week, the very first ‘Global’ Fashion Week dedicated to Childrenswear happened in London. But, is this just a bit too much? Or, are we are embracing the younger generation?
(Images from Pinterest)

lfwkidsKids Fashion Week is here to show off that kids can have style! They don’t have to wear a hoody that has been worn a billion times, and they don’t have to wear a mini pair of jeans, they can rock their stuff, how they like! Oh yeah! And I love that! That’s why I’m here, right? The thing which I find hard to believe though is that, some of these kids, don’t want to be modelling? They want to be sat at home playing with their Barbie dolls (okay, maybe now it’s more like playing Nintendo Dogs). Some of these kids, my age and younger are being forced by parents to be walking down the catwalk. I think it’s terrible. Yes, they may still have time to play and do what they want, but why should they be forced? I’m not forced to blog, I just love blogging! Fashion Week should be for children who want to be modelling, and I know that sounds strange, but I feel it’s how young models should be judged. If they want to model they model. If you’ve ever watched ‘Toddlers & Tiaras‘, you’ll know where I’m coming from. The screaming, ratty children being forced into having spray tans and having to shave their legs at an absolute ridiculous age, could be not just coming from pageants, but from Fashion Shows.

When I saw this picture (above), I actually said out loud ‘How disgusting’. This girl, I would say is near my age, and she may have a happy face, but do you think it’s exceptable for her to be on a catwalk with a bikini on? I know it’s the only way they can showcase what it will look like on, but I think that should be left for online. It’s not just the fact that she is wearing next to nothing, it’s the fact that she might think, that’s how she has to look. They grow up thinking ‘I have to have nice clothes, I have to wear my hair like this, I need make-up!’. It shouldn’t be like this.
I think the need for Kids Fashion Weeks are there. To be able to showcase clothes and to boost the market, but I think there should be a point where it is just too much. I believe that children in the modelling world should not wear make-up and should know what is right and wrong. They should know that the people in the magazines are airbrushed but it isn’t how everyone should look. Talking about airbrushing, I did a post on the petition about airbrushing, and the news is in! They won! How fantastic! Read the post here.

My Style: Venetian Masque Parade

By March 19, 2013 Fashion, My Style

A couple of days ago we went out to a town near us called ‘Castres‘ (Click the link to see what I got up to there, last time!) and we went to see a Venetian ‘Masque’ Parade, which at first looked terrible, it just looked like a few men dressed up on stage singing old Venetian songs, so we were pretty annoyed as I had bought my real Venetian ‘Masque’ to wear, and my snazzy-ma-gee camera to take pictures of the whole event. We decided to go round the corner to the well known ‘Musee Goya’ or ‘Goya Museum’ which is dedicated to the artist ‘Goya’. A few Police men passed our way whilst walking to it, and then we saw police cars, and people sitting on the side of the road… we then looked through the gates of the museum, and saw the most amazing looking costumes ever. Get in, I did have a blog post to write! Anyway, as you can imagine it was pretty exciting to find it all, so I took some pictures, and did an OOTD for you. Sono così brillante! cakes cakescloseWOW! I love cupcakes, and I love colour, again, I now officially love you. The colour of the dress was incredible, seriously incredible. You can see how much time and effort has gone into these costumes (They are all handmade by the person wearing them). I wish I could’ve eaten one of those cakes… yum! (I know they’re fake, a girl can dream)

I really like the top, and actually I do like the skirt, I perhaps wouldn’t wear them at the same time, but I sure would love them both! #WANT.

Give-Away & Review with Harts + Crosses*

By March 12, 2013 Competitions, Fashion

Bonjour! Hello! Ciao! I am back again! This post has been long awaited now, as I have been a little bit poorly and busy with the family, I am now ready to do it! As you probably know already, I’m a fan of jewellery! I love festival style jewellery, bold necklaces and dainty little bracelets, and I know somewhere which has all of that, for the best prices! Harts & Crosses sell things that are purse friendly prices, with purse friendly P&P prices too! They are fun, cute and really friendly, and I am sure you are going to love them!

photo 1 photo 2 photo 3 photo 4From L to R: Crossector Bracelet £2.50, Cameo Necklace £1.00 (On Sale), W-Oven Bracelet £0.50, Feather Ring (Out of Stock), Hey Daisy Earrings & Cross Charmin’ Earrings.

All of these items are super cute! My favourite has got to be the ring, which unfortunately has sold out, but there are plenty more cute rings to choose from like this Dragon Fly Ring, which I love! I also love the Cameo Necklace which at first I thought would be so dainty, you wouldn’t even be able to notice it, but after taking it out of the packaging, I realised how nice it is! The chain is a nice size and would look really good on top of a big scarf. I also love the woven bracelet! It would look good with loads of them together, which I actually may do… 😉 Harts + Crosses are a great brand, and you really should go take a look at them, because I reckon you’ll come off the site with something in your basket!

photo 2 photo 5 photo 1Here are the cross & daisy earrings. They are both brilliant! With daisies & crosses being in trend this spring, you cannot go wrong! If I had my ears pierced I would totally wear these all day long! My favourite are the crosses because they could make any outfit a bit more edgy! As I just said, I don’t have my ears pierced, so! I have decided to run a give-away! Harts & Crosses have allowed me to give both pairs away to one of my readers!
