DIY: Make-Up & Jewellery Case

By January 11, 2013 Beauty, DIY & Lifestyle

Okay first of all, I have to say that I did not eat all the Forrero Rochers by myself, there were 6 other people eating them. Secondly, I would like to say that this is not a good post for those on a diet, as it involves eating chocolate. Thirdly, I would like to start the post… So, yes, it involves eating a whole box of chocolates, preferably Forrero Rochers, and a box which has a chocolate ‘holder’. The other things you need is a label, some Make-Up and some Jewellery!

photo 1This box is perfect because it is great for putting on display, it’s quite small, and it’s gold, so it’s extra pretty!

photo 3 photo 2So, as you can see I filled all the little spaces with small items like earrings (my mum’s), rings, and a few tiny clips and pins. I then filled the middle with my MUA Artiste Collection which fits perfectly in the center space.

photo 4See, they fit perfectly! This gorgeous ring is the perfect example!

photo 1Plus! There’s a secret compartment! Okay, wait, how romantic would this be, if you’re boyfriend put an engagement ring in there and note, and then you saw that. That would be amazing… (There you go boys… 🙂 )

photo 2 photo 3

For the label, I cut out something from my Company Magazine, and PVA-ed it on.

photo 4Here’s just a guide on where you should put things! Obviously you don’t have to do it like this!

Please tell me if you have any other uses for chocolate boxes! I would love to know! Just leave a comment, or tweet me at @TollyDollyPosh

Food Glorious Food

By January 11, 2013 DIY & Lifestyle

So, as this year I have a full year of blogging instead of starting in April, I guess I should probably add some more stuff, so I guess, doing some food blogs would be cool, right? So, as this is the first (of hopefully many) I have started with a basic one. Boiled Egg & Soldiers! This is probably one of the most amazingly simple, and comforting foods there is. Isn’t it so cute though? Dipping slices of bread into the gooey yellow amazing-ness with a pinch of salt and a pepper, with a glass of freshly pressed orange juice.

photo 3 photo 2 photo 1Unfortunately this time I didn’t have gooey middle 🙁 But, other than that it was purely delicious. I love having the pinch of salt & pepper on top, because it adds that extra boost of flavour. Plus having the Orange juice with the vitamins, then it’s a perfectly healthy meal, but I went for white bread so you could disagree…

photo 4I also had it in my really old egg cup, which I did on the Isle of Wight where I lived for 7 years. I think it’s….. unique. Random splatters of purple here, random dots of green there, it’s quite frankly… brilliant! Better than Kate Middleton’s portrait! She looks terrible!

I hope you enjoy the simple, yet sweet little post, and that you are looking forward to many more Food Glorious Food posts!

Okay, so when we were chatting along, we came up with tips and things in which could help anyone on the #spendingban and there were some good ones! Here’s an example of what happened in the chat!…

Maria Sparkle asked: ”#spendingban I struggle with online the most, I have web access all day at work, it can be deadly! Any tips xxx”

TollyDollyPosh answered: ”If possible, block the sites that you want to visit, and then you won’t be tempted, and get someone to set a secret password!”

TollyDollyPosh said: #spendingban Top Tip!: Go to @MUAcosmetics and get a really cheap alternative rather than something which is 5 times more expensive!!

Please join even if your not a Fashion/Beauty Blogger or even if you’re not doing a full #spendingban! Just come along and help us save our pennies!

You Can’t Beat A Bargain

By January 10, 2013 Fashion

This post is especially for you bargain hunters. Those of us who are holding onto our pursestrings this credit crunch. It’s all about, how you can find better things, in the shops which smell of moth balls, and are full of the t-shirts in size 26 in the powder blue colour, you never thought you would even think of touching. Yes, you thought it right. The Second Hand Shop. The shop of dreams. The shop which is summed up in one phrase, ‘Don’t judge a book by it’s cover’.

(Image from Pinterest, this is not Bath Frock Exchange)

Second hand shops or Charity shops are so over looked. These shops are usually placed at the end of the high street, or the ‘dodgy’ end as we used to say in Cheltenham, next to the old cinema which has been closed down for over 30 years, or the public toilets, I don’t even need to explain them! But, sometimes, your trip to the worst bathrooms in the world, might just be your ticket to your most treasured item of all time. Also, most of the time, they are Charity Shops, so your doing a lot more than going to a M&S (who have recently lost their designer, who worked for only 5 months!) to get the same jumper. To be honest, I reckon I have more Charity Shop clothes than I do high street. Recently, I came across my first French 2nd Hand Shop, and my mum found me one of the most amazing coats ever, and I also found a classic hand bag, which I have actually been wanting for ages. Okay, it may not be a Chanel handbag at the dirt cheapest price, but it’s still a bargain, €8 to be precise. But, it’s not just basic 2nd Hand Shops which are amazing, it’s the Premium Pre-Owned ones, which may be more expensive, but I think you may just come out with something…

Bath Frock Exchange is obviously in Bath and has been running for over 25 years, it was previously known as ‘Mrs Simpsons’, but was taken over in October, and is now even better. Their ambition was to brighten it all up, and put in things that they never thought they’d be able to afford. They are still trying to source specific items, and premium brands, so if you have an old Chanel handbag not in use, pass a message over to them! Bath Frock Exchange is great, because they also have Beauty Rooms, so not only can you go and see what they have, but you can relax and take some time out. Also, it’s not just for us girls, it also for you boys! Yep, they do pretty much everything. From day to evening wear, massages to menswear, you are sure to have come out with something. So, I got the lovely people there to message me across some pictures, and now I am going to do a couple of outfits with their amazing pieces…

outfit1

Gold Metallic Dip Hem Skirt £17.00 (River Island), VILLAGE Flatform Creepers £35.00 (ASOS) & Gold Studded Clean Biker Jacket £30.00 (Topshop).

This Aquascutum blouse from Bath Frock Exchange is perfect, because it works so well with the Dip Hem skirt. Add some creepers, and a nice biker jacket (which goes with anything), and you will look amazing! Metallic Madame!

outfits2Gold Jacquard Trousers £50.00 (Topshop), Cape Pussybow Blouse £36.00 (Topshop) & PRIOR Pointed High Heels £45.00 (ASOS).

This look is really sophisticated, and simple. These trousers will look effortless and adding the pointed heels will make it look even better. The Jaeger Mac is great, because it is printed, and this S/S, Prints are Perfect!

So, as you can see there are some nice things which you can buy from Bath Frock Exchange, and they are much cheaper! Make sure you take a look at their site!…

Another of my favourite 2nd Hand Stores…

Lovely’s Vintage Emporium

Watch out for more outfits using Bath Frock Exchange clothing…

Rimmel London & MUA Nail Polish Review

By January 9, 2013 Beauty

PolishReview1MUA Frozen Yoghurt, Rimmel 625 Sir Yes Sir, 320 Rapid Ruby & 315 Ready Aim Paint.

PolishReview2 PolishReview3 PolishReview4 PolishReview5

My favourite colour is probably Frozen Yoghurt, but I prefer the actual finish and brush of the Rimmel ones. The Rimmel ones have flat brushes, and they dry in 60 seconds, and that’s not a joke, they really do.

PolishReview6320 Rapid Ruby – Rimmel

This colour is quite dark, but you can make it quite light by either, applying only 1 coat, or by using a white base coat. I think this colour is really good for winter, and makes me think of the OPI Skyfall collection, because I think it would be suitable for the collection.

PolishReview7315 Ready, Aim, Paint – Rimmel

This colour is very bright. It looks kind of orangey/pinky in this picture, but it’s not, it’s just a very bright red, which I quite like, and I think I will be using this colour a lot in Spring. The only thing wrong with this colour, is that it is quite thin, and you do have to apply a lot for it to stand out, but that can darken it 🙁

PolishReview9625 Sir Yes Sir – Rimmel

This colour is quite a brown shade of purple, but it looks really nice. I think I will use this when I wear my lace skater skirt, because it would be nice pop of colour, without it being too bright.

PolishReview10Frozen Yoghurt – MUA

This colour is so sweet! It’s more blue than purple, but it’s got quite a dark undertone, so it’s no too bright. I really like it, but it’s quite thin. I also don’t really like the brush compared to the Rimmel one, but that’s to be expected when it’s a lot cheaper.

Blogging Q&A With Hanna from Who Is Hanna…?

By January 9, 2013 Beauty, Fashion

One of my favourite blogs is Who Is Hanna, so I got in contact, and asked whether Hanna would do a Q&A for you guys, so as you probably guessed, she said yes… so, here you go!

  1. What inspired you to start your Blog?: I’ve always liked to express myself through texts, and always felt a need to kind of “document my life” – so I decided to start a blog.
  2. Why did you choose fashion?: I started my first blog in 2008, and kept on blogging for a couple of years without my blog really being a “fashion blog”. It was just a blog where I shared pictures from my everyday life, sometimes pictures of what I was wearing – but mostly a lot of text. It was first in 2011 that I really decided to write a “fashion blog” – and that after having several blogs on different blog-platforms and kind of realizing that fashion was my passion, and that it was what I wanted to focus on.
  3. What are you top tips on starting a Blog?: Just start one! Choose a blog-platform, pick a name, start blogging… Blogging should be fun, so keep it casual in the beginning.
  4. What are your Blogging Targets for this year?: This year I want to, like every year, get more readers. I also want to make my blog better, and maybe start posting better – but fewer blog-posts.
  5. Who are your favourite fellow bloggers?: I follow a lot of blogs, but my absolute favorites are: Fashion Vibe, Tuvamalmo, Jueniffer, Shopping & Fashion, Sincerely Jules and The Hurting Hearts.
  6. What’s been your favourite in 2012: My favorite trend in 2012 was the “sporty” trend. I love sneakers, caps, baseball tees and anything Nike – so it’s been a really good trend for me.
  7. Where’s your favourite place to grab a bargain and why?: H&M, for sure. You can find anything there, for such cheap prices that it’s ridiculous. H&M is also very trendy and “up-to-date” and I like that.
  8. What’s your favourite piece of clothing, accessory etc that you have ever bought?: Probably my black H&M jeans. They’re in the model “super skinny, super low waist” – and seriously are the best jeans I’ve ever owned or tried on. They’re probably also one of the cheapest pairs of jeans I ever bought – which makes them ever more awesome.
  9. Who is your favourite designer and why?: Alexander Wang. Oh, everything he designs is just perfect… I also like Balmain, Acne, Helmut Lang, Tibi, Elie Saab and Isabel Marant.
  10. What’s your personal style, and what do you do to work it?: My personal style is very simple. I like wearing denim, black, white and leather. A typical “me-outfit” would be: blue or black skinny jeans, black boots/booties, a white or grey loose tee, a simple necklace, a simple bracelet and a leather jacket.

Just so you can get a feel of Hanna’s blog here are some screenshots, and also the link to get you to her fabulous site!…

Thank you very much Hanna for the answers, because I know it will inspire all the people thinking of starting a blog! Merci!

My Style: Pop Of Colour

By January 9, 2013 My Style

PopColour7 PopColour1Yesterday we went to a place called Mazamet which is near Castres in the Midi-Pyrenees. Along the way we visited other little towns and villages, which was the perfect spot to start of my 2013 Style Series. It was extremely cold, and there was a slight drizzle where we were because there was a man made spring near the river. There were some French school pupils on a trip, and I think one of them said ‘Why aren’t they speaking French’, or something along those lines. The reason I call this Outfit ‘Pop Of Colour’ is because it was quite a cold and grey day, and there was so much fog you couldn’t see anything. My trousers where the ‘Pop Of Colour’ in the day, and so was the sky when we were actually above the clouds and fog at one point. (Where we live is very hilly, and high up).

PopColour6 PopColour3You can see my Ombre is starting to grow out 🙁 I don’t think I’ll have it done again either… See my How To Care For Ombre Hair: The Products Video here.

PopColour5 PopColour2PopColour4

What I Wore:WOW River Island Jumper, New Look Checkered Blouse (Re-Vamped), New Look Orange Skinny Trousers, Primark Boots, Matalan Beret, Les Halles Gloves & John Lewis Coat.

I love my coat! It’s really warm, and cosy, and also looks really nice with boots and trousers. I also love my beret, if I add my geek glasses it really works the Geek Chic look.
