Thrift Shop Song: Get The Look

By February 11, 2013 Fashion

Picture 1If you’ve been following me on Twitter (If you don’t, now is the chance!), you should know by now that I am loving the ‘Thrift Shop’ Song. Obviously, I listen to the clean edit! (Gosh, none of you trust me, do you?) So, my sister, a genius, thought that I should do a post on it! And, I am! I thought I would do a Get The Look post, so you can perhaps style an outfit themed to the song? If you haven’t seen it, then click here (Naughty words in this one! Haha) (Images are screenshotted from the video!)

TDP’s February Wishlist: I think Spring is coming…

By February 11, 2013 DIY & Lifestyle, My Style, Wishlist

I haven’t put anything on My Wishlist for yonks! I’ll tell you why, it’s because I really haven’t been loving the highstreet! This is very bad. I usually love everything they have, but right now I just think that they aren’t doing great! But! I have a solution…. H&M! I don’t think I have shopped at H&M for about…. 2 Years?! No joke! After being told I need to look for some summer clothes, I got stuck on where to look. Then the two letters popped into my mind, and I am going to show you the 3 amazing finds! Plus a book which I am dying to get my hands on!

febwishlistDress in Mint Green £7.99, Shorts in Pink £9.99 & Basketball Shoes in Mint Green £7.99 (H&M) & Geek Girl £5.24 (Amazon).

After finding these bargains, I am now in love with Mint Green, and I am sooo ready for Spring & Summer! I seriously, NEED & WANT these converse style shoes. I have some old sparkly ones, but my feet have grown 🙁 I also think that shorts will go with both the shoes, and the dress, as if the dress is short, I can always pop them underneath! I will probably wear a floral blazer with the dress too, to add a preppy look 🙂 Hopefully when Papa Posh (Do you like that? I think I may stick with that!) goes over to the UK, he can buy the H&M stuff, as the french H&M site doesn’t have them on there, and you can’t buy anything on it anyway! I am also really looking forward to the release of Geek Girl, which I will hopefully get for my birthday! 😉 *hint hint*

What do you want this February? Is it your birthday soon? Tell me in the comments below! Also, if you want any specific posts done, do let me know! Or, if you want an extra speedy response, Tweet Me!

ADVERTISE: Have your blog in my side bar, from £1! Just fill in the form here, and I will take a look at your blog!

Celebrity Style Captured: Kate Beckinsale

By February 10, 2013 Fashion

‘Ello! I’m back again 🙂 Quick Sunday Update: It’s cold. I said it would be quick! Anyway, on with the show post! This is a requested post, which I was meant to do ages… and ages… and ages ago. But, I never did it, so now it’s time! (I’m sorry it’s not my best CSC, but I think it’s because of the not-so-great High Street at the moment!)

kateB1Angle Pocket Ponte Jacket £40.00 (Oasis), MOTO Crop Slim Boyfriend Jeans £20.00 (Topshop), White Basic Vest £3.99 (New Look), Black Suedette Buckle Ankle Boots £27.99 (New Look) & Black Square Stud Frame Sunglasses £4.99 (New Look).

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a blazer too similar to the one Kate is wearing, but I did find this one, which is a great alternative, and you could even wear it to work. I love these cropped jeans! They look really preppy, and they are nearly the same as Kate’s! (Except a lot cheaper!) I also think that these boots are great dupes for the Kurt Geiger ones. My mum has them (the KG ones) and I am always look for a cheaper pair! Perhaps I could invest in these…

kateb2Charcoal Roll Sleeve Sweater £12.99 (New Look), 30in Pale Blue Supersoft Skinny Jeans £19.99 (New Look), ASHER Leather Western Boots £85.00 (ASOS), Large Front Lock Shoulder Bag £30.00 (ASOS)Zig Zag Snood £16.00 (Topshop) & Chevron Inlay Flat Top Sunglasses £16.00 (Topshop).

I. Love. This. Look. Unfortunately (once again!) I couldn’t find the exact same colour jumper, but I did find this one, which is pretty similar. Once again, Kate looks stunning in her jeans, and these New Look ones are a bargain! I love these ASOS boots! They are very modern, but they have a classic twist as well. They could be worn with a nice skater skirt to create a girly look too. Obviously, you could just wear the same sunnies in the first look, but I just wanted to give another brand a go. Okay?!

If you liked this post and you want to see your favourite stylish celeb here, please leave a link to the image, where it is from, and any brands you would like me to use, to create the look. Also, feel free to leave a nice comment anyway!

REMINDERS: #FBLOGGERS Chat is on at 8pm (UK Time) tonight! So be there! Also, I have 2 spaces left for March! The subject is Make-Up! Click here for more details & prices.

Hello & Goodbye to The Nespresso Dress

By February 9, 2013 Fashion, My Style

This is a sad, sad day. I have decided to let go of something which I have taken care of, for 2 years. It was exciting to make it, and the outcome of it was also brilliant, but I decided to that it is time to say good bye. If you’ve read the title, then you’ll know it is not this blog (why would I do that?! Plus, I haven’t even been blogging for a year yet!), but it is The Nespresso Dress. I created this for an Art Scholarship and I got it (thankfully). It was a project which was very fun, and I enjoyed every second. It involved collecting rubbish for over 4 weeks and then sticking them all onto my mum’s tailors dummy. Sounds simple, right? Well, here’s the catch. I didn’t sew it together, I had to pin it together. It was a long and painful time, when making it, and when taking it apart. But, I did it! And, I hope you like it, because today you are going to say Hello (& Goodbye) to the Nespresso Dress… oh, if you don’t know, Nespresso is coffee.

picasion.com_1b99594c9b7411ad5196dc1eed035f6cphoto 1 photo 2 photo 3 photo 4 photo 5WHAT I USED: Waitrose Bags, Nespresso Pots, Chocolate Holder, Rope, Mumbai Spice Idian Meal Box, Buttons, Cheese Netting, Accessorize Bags Hot Glue Gun, Staples & Pins.

I said Goodbye to it today, as it was getting in the way, and at some point I was going to do it anyway, so no better time like the present! I have kept some of the strips of Nespresso Pots to perhaps add to hair bands, or just keep as a souvenir for it. I would say if you like making things from scratch, this is the sort of thing you should try out. It’s simple, and you can go anywhere with it. I did make it myself, with a bit of guidance with the Hot Glue gun from mum. I was very happy when I received the scholarship, as I knew it played a part in getting me it. I was also a bit sad when I ripped it all off (carefully), but I really want to make more use of the tailor’s dummy this year, so it had to be done! I hope you like it!

I am really sorry that I haven’t been doing many fashion/trend/outfit posts, I have been really busy, and those are the posts which take time to do. I have a few posts scheduled, which will be coming soon, but I just can’t do everything! I’m not superwoman! (Well, I mean, you could say that I am…)

Alexa Chung, I’m Bored.

By February 7, 2013 Fashion

Alexa Chung is known for her style right? Alexa Chung is pretty much always in the weekily best dressed updates of magazines, but I want to know why? I would say that 60% of the time us #fbloggers and any other stylish chicks, look way better than her. No, 65%. No, 68%. I think you get it… (Image from Pinterest)

alexaFirst of all, let’s learn a bit more about Alexa Chung, shall we…

Born: 5 November 1983 (Age 29)
Height: 5ft 8.5in – Why do we need to know this? I actually, generally, do not know…
Hair Colour: Brown – Bit obvious.
Eye Colour: Green – I guess that’s not too obvious…
Shoe Size: 7 – Average.
Occupation: TV Presenter, Model & Contributor to British Vogue – Ooh, snazzy.
Modelling Agency: Next Models

So, I did know she models, but I didn’t know that she was actually a model, if you know what I mean? She’s almost 30, and she works for Vogue. It’s interesting actually, because I wouldn’t think of her as a celebrity, I would just think of her as someone who knows someone, who can get her into the ‘industry’. Anyway, that was just a little bite for your brain to take in, I’m here to talk about her style. I AM BORED OF IT. BORED. BORED. BORED. She’s just there to fill the gap when nobody else wants to ‘dress up’ for the magazines, but she doesn’t even dress up! She’s just there looking ‘Alexa-ish’ and doing her ‘ting. I mean look at the picture above, yes I agree that she is looking alright, but I don’t think that she looks amazing? What’s the big fuss about her being so stylish? Oh wait, it’s Alexa Chung, she always looks stylish… Nope. Not anymore, I am not going to agree with it anymore… and neither are you… I sent out a tweet saying ‘Alexa Chung – I just don’t get it, she’s just so ‘samey’.

Picture 3 Picture 4 Picture 5Picture 6I don’t want to blabber on about it too much, but I would like to know what you think? I mean, she’s not really anything special? Tell me what you think by leaving a comment below! I know I’m bored…. (I don’t mind if you love her style!)

Q&A with Lovely’s Vintage Emporium…

By February 6, 2013 Fashion

One of my gorgeous Fashionista’s of February is Lynette from Lovely’s Vintage Emporium, a Vintage Emporium run on the Isle of Wight (my old, old home town!), which also has a site and a blog.

1.    What inspired you to start your Blog? Mine is part of my vintage fashion online boutique Lovely’s Vintage Emporium and I included it on there as I want people to be able to come to the website not just to shop but also to have fun and be engaged. The blog covers all topics from the latest vintage looks to memories about chocolate bars eaten in the 1970s, top films of the 1980s, what supermodels used to wear and more. It is just a great place to come to for a good read.

2.    Why did you choose fashion? I have always been fashion obsessed and it made sense to set up a fashion website and fashion blog alongside it.

3.    What are you top tips on starting a Blog? Work out who your audience is – ie who you are talking to and then blog away! Only blog about what you love as then your ‘voice’ will come through. The best blogs are the authentic ones where you can tell the writer of the blog is totally into their subject and that way your readers will be too.

4.    What are your Blogging Targets for this year? I don’t have targets, I just hope people enjoy reading what I write.

5.    Who are your favourite fellow bloggers? I enjoy The British Beauty Blog, Liberty London Girl and Sighs & Whispers.

6.    What trend are you most looking forward to working, this S/S 13? Stripes, stripes and more stripes. I have already bought a vintage bold striped black and white shirt.

7.    Where’s your favourite place to grab a bargain and why? Well, as I am buying stock for Lovely’s Vintage Emporium all the time there is always something I end up keeping for myself so I rarely need to shop in any other way now. When in London I do always pop into Bang Bang on Goodge Street that has lots of seconds and vintage pieces. I sometimes shop online at The Outnet & Secret Sales.

8.    What’s your favourite piece of clothing, accessory etc that you have ever bought? My favourite is a vintage Ossie Clark red dress from Lovely’s Vintage Emporium.

9.    Who is your favourite designer and why? I love so many. My favourite is probably John Bates for Jean Varon a vintage designer from the 1960s-1980s as his dresses are just exquisite. The detailing on each one is so intricate and his designs were and still are so innovative. We do have a few left on the website (here).

10.   What’s your personal style and what do you do to work it? My style is definitely designer meets vintage as I like to mix it up. So I will wear some recent Stella McCartney black trousers with a vintage Halston top.

Picture 8If you want to appear in a post like this, visit the Advertise page and fill out the form! March is all about Make-Up! You can have a button in my side bar from just £1! Plus+ on your 3rd time round, you can get a discount if you use the Mini Dolly Package! Also, I my GOLD BROGUES SIZE 3 are still for sale! I would be looking for at least £8 but I am open to offers! Please comment if you’re interested.

One Item Blog Sale: Size 3 Gold Brogue Flats

By February 2, 2013 My Style

I have had these shoes for quite a while now, and I have also had them for quite a while, not fitting! My feet grew quite quickly after buying them, so they don’t really have any use to me anymore 🙁 I bought them with my own money for £25 from M&S and they are Size 3, but could possibly fit a 2.5 footed gal! The bottoms are a bit dirty, but only because the last time I wore them was on a really long walk in the village of Kate Moss’ house, just days before the wedding! If you didn’t look at the bottoms though, they are in perfect condition, but look sad without any feet inside them! Here are some pictures…

photo 1 photo 2 photo 3 photo 4 photo 5They are generally sort of ‘worn’ in the style, so they aren’t as bad as they look. If you’re interested in these shoes, please contact me with any questions, and an offer of how much you would like to pay. I would be looking for about £12 plus £5 P+P (From France to the UK, Standard Air Mail). Payment will be through PAYPAL only, and I will expect payment within 3 days of receiving an invoice. I will not except refunds.
