My Style: Going On An Adventure*

By March 27, 2014 My Style

Hello everyone! Just a little fact before you starting reading this blog post… that title is actually from the Snowy Adventure episode of Tots TV… oh yes, how cool? Hahaha! Ah… the things my family think of when we go on a nice woodland walk… also, look at my bland straight hair for a good while longer… this maybe the last ever OOTD where it is pretty boring! I got some subtle layers in my hair, and it’s a bit shorter (picture here)! 😉 Also also! Look, look, look… I was interviewed by Company Magazine :O about my new site, Bundle! You can read it here! Snazzy!

my style joules ark clothing chelsea doll my style joules ark clothing chelsea dollWhat I Wore: French Navy Bouquet Shirt (Joules)*, H&M Monochrome Trousers (Jumble Sale), Faux Leather Biker Jacket £46.99 (ARK Clothing)*, Girls Red Seafarer Wellies £29.95 (Joules)*, Welly Socks £12.95 (Joules)* & ‘Scissor Sisters’ Necklace £15.00 (Chelsea Doll)*

Woahhh! Way too over exposed face… do excuse! There is this really lovely path near us which takes you through the woods and into this great big valley, so I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to show off ma’ new red girls wellies! I think it makes a nice change to the usual outfit, because you can see what I really wear. I’m not saying what I wear isn’t what I wear (aha), I just mean that this is more casual and relaxed and perhaps a more day to day outfit! These wellies though *perfection hand sign* are so comfortable! I’ve worn them out and about and they are just so warm and snug! Paired with the Joules welly socks, they are the ultimate pair, and in my opinion, a bargain! They are in the kids section, but they go up to an adult size 7! And of course you cannot forget my blouse and faux leather jacket combo once again (see previous outfit here), my brother says it’s a James May shirt (-____-) but I say it is utterly gorgeous… and it is, for sure!

my style joules ark clothing chelsea doll my style joules ark clothing chelsea dollAhah! My face is so funny in that top picture… the path is very downhill so the walk back up made me all red faced! You can see my wellies in some underwater action too! No leakages so far, and it meant I could splash around and show off to my family who were all in normal shoes 😉 #WellyAdvantages 😉 Ooh ooh and you can see more of my AWESOME scissor necklace from Chelsea Doll! I love how it just peeps under the collar of my blouse and looks like it is almost embellished onto it! You can see a clearer picture below, FYI! I do have to say though, country walks are so nice, especially when you have a can of coke at the end 😉

my style joules ark clothing chelsea doll my style joules ark clothing chelsea dollGetting all jazzy with my editing again 😉 There’s not point wasting a good picture is there? May as well stick it as a border! I feel sad that I have walked in my wellies as much as I have… they’ve lost the shine they had *sob*… ah well, I guess I have my scissor necklace to make feel better! Honestly Chelsea Doll, you have some dayum good statement necklaces! 😀 I have a wishlist coming up soon which will feature 2 pieces which I would love to add to my collection! …for now though, I shall leave you with this funny GIF… I failed at doing the whole ‘whimsical blowing leaf GIF’… damn you wind for not helping it look even more awesome! 😉

Smiling Models at Fashion Week

By March 23, 2014 Fashion

I haven’t done an opinionated/rant style post in ages! This isn’t a rant, but more of a ‘what do you think’ discussion point post. Seeing as fashion month is done and dusted for another season, maybe this can get you thinking about SS15’… (Images via Pinterest)

smiling models fashion week debate h&m chanelI enjoy watching fashion week on live stream, even if I am not there on the FROW, the live stream feed is the best seat in the house, but something bothers me. It’s not anything to do with connection, or how pixelated it is, it’s to do with how zombie like the models look. There are two major arguments about this matter, 1 – being that they are all too thin and are not like ‘normal people’ and 2 – being that if they were to smile they would distract from the collection. The bit that annoys me is the smile point. I do agree with what the designers have to say, but only by a small percentage. If distraction is the reason why, then can you explain why Chanel had a supermarket made up for them and people were more interested in it than the clothing? Can you explain why we have top models strutting their stuff? Can you explain why we allow celebrities to sit in main view on the FROW?

smiling models fashion week debate h&m chanelI expect you cannot.
Take what I said about Chanel; for their AW14′ show at Paris Fashion Week, they had a huge supermarket as their catwalk. The aisles were actually stocked with Chanel branded everything, from egg boxes (filled), to vodka bottles, there was even a doormat! I was on Twitter and Instagram at the time of the show, and I saw more tweets about the actual set than I did of the clothing. At the end of the show, up on the speakers, it said ‘The store is now closed’ but still, people insisted that they would go for a browse. Security guards were put in place to retrieve all of the stolen goodies. Guests were only allowed to take fresh produce from the vegetable aisle…. I’m not saying I don’t like the whole ‘set’ style show, I actually quite like the idea of creating more of a theme, but it’s the fact that they think a smile will be a distraction, when you have all of that as a backdrop!

Then there is the top models.
When ‘Cara’, or Jourdan Dunn come down the runway, more heads turn and more lights flash than any other model (watching live streams = *flash flash, phones up*). Heads will turn and people will become more excited about the person wearing the clothes than what is covering their naked body. If a smile is such a big distraction, then surely we should use less known models which perhaps aren’t seen as ‘perfect’ and as ‘versatile’ as the likes of ‘Cara’.

smiling models fashion week debate h&m chanelMy final argument is all about celebrities.
Nowadays the likes of David Beckham, Harry Styles, the Olsen sisters, Anna Wintour, Alexa Chung, Emma Watson, Paloma Faith, Jessie J, Lily Allen and Kate Moss sit knee to knee across the front bench. The paparazzi storm that is captured on live stream is huge. Hundreds (or a few less) gather round them, snapping away, flashes blazing, blocking the view of whoever is in front of the lens, for a good ten to fifteen minutes, and even when the show is going, the live stream cameras point towards the ‘VIPs’ a good few times. To all designers out there… you think a smile is going to distract from the collections? You’d rather your models look like lifeless zombies, than healthy, glowing humans? Makes sense… :-/

The reason I think models should be allowed to smile, is because 1 – it will liven up the catwalks and make it a more enjoyable, and less serious place, 2 – it will make the models look more healthy (which is what we all want to promote) and finally, 3 – A small smile, will not distract from a big puffy dress and the amazing headdress, all of the list above, will. I am happy to say that more designers and brands have started to let models smile… but is it just a publicity stunt now? Do they just want to stand out from the crowd? If we want to solve this once and for all, designers, please do let your models smile, and the fashion world will be a much happier place. 😀 🙂 😀 🙂 😀 🙂 😀 Listen to ‘Happy’ and you’ll get in the right mood!

What do you think? Do you think models should smile? Let me know in the comments!

Monster High Get The Look Contest with Claire’s

By March 20, 2014 Competitions, My Style

Not long ago now, I got contacted by the amazing people at Universal Pictures UK, (I know, crazy!) and they asked me to be an ambassador for their contest which they are running along side with Claire’s Accessories. It’s all in celebration of the Monster High: Frights, Camera, Action! DVD release! They wanted me to recreate a look as inspiration for anybody wanting to enter the ‘Monster High Get The Look’ competition! Of course I said yes, and here it is!

monster high get the look claire's accessories viperine monster high get the look claire's accessories viperine monster high get the look claire's accessories viperineWhat I Wore: Printed Dress (H&M), Velvet Pinafore £22.99 (ARK Clothing)*, Pastel Blue Petticoat Skirt £20.00 (M&S), Pretty Polly Socks (ASOS), Statement Necklace (eBay) & Jumbo Hair Clips (Claire’s)

I thought I would re-create Viperine from Monster High‘s look, because I thought the make-up was really interesting, and I think when it comes to re-creating something, the make-up is always the strong point. I actually really liked the eye make-up, it was really strong but didn’t really involve much. I have listed all the products I used at the end of the post so you can take a look! I also straight away knew that I had to wear my petticoat because it is just perfect peeping underneath the pinafore like Viperine’s dress. I was chucking out pieces from my wardrobe (charity shop of course!) and I am so glad I didn’t get rid of my H&M dress because the colours are perfect!

It’s actually a real bargain! The curls look super cute pinned back with my jumbo clips from Claire’s! I’ve had them for ages, and not only do I use them when sectioning my hair, they also make a great accessory! To re-create Viperine’s snake-y extra arms, I popped in some pink ribbons towards the back of my hair and they add that pop of colour! Plus my trusty eBay necklace, which looks pretty good for a replacement of Viperine’s version!

Well my friend, it is because the doll version of Viperine, carries around a palette pretty similar to the one I am holding! (Do excuse my weird knee in the first picture… not sure what happened there!) I must say… I am pretty glad I am not Viperine though…. ew. Her skin is all scaley like a snake and I am not a fan of that! Although her dress sense is pretty nice! I am really happy with the pictures of this blog post because I finally know how to get awesome bokeh, and I think I have figured out the settings on my new lens! Eeep! …you might not see my hair as long as it is for much longer! Getting a snip and a few layers popped in in 4 days! (Bit like this…)

A-Z Fashion Guide: Agnès B

By March 18, 2014 A-Z Fashion

Howdy folks! Today I have the very last part of letter ‘A’ from my A-Z Fashion Guide. Yes, I have actually done 3 of these posts now! To view them all, scroll up to my header, and click on A-Z Fashion, and voila! All of the posts will all be in a nice place, easy to get to! 😀 It’s just a quick one today, but I hope you enjoy it none the less!

agnes b a-z fashion guide french fashion designers Agnés was actually born Agnés Troublé (she means Trouble… aha) in Paris. At just 17 she joined Elle magazine as a junior editor, but shortly after she gave birth to twins and moved to Dorothee Bis as a designer and then left in 1964 to become a freelancer. Troublé opened her own store in 1975 where she sold clothing to a wide age group. Most of her designs were adapted from French work uniforms, but she also specialised in separates such as cardigans which had a rustic, worn in look. In 1981 she started to design for menswear, and then opened her first international store in New York in 1983. Agnés B is now an internationally renowned designer with maternity, footwear and cosmetic lines.

To me her designs now are very simple and chic, but have that sort of retro vibe running through them. I like the fact that all her collections are very wearable because it means they can match anybody’s fancies and are all very versatile. I chose a few pieces which are currently on the Agnés B site…

agnes b a-z fashion guide french fashion designers 1//2//3//4//5//6//7//8

As I said the pieces are very simple, but some of them are gorgeous! I am in LOVE with the pastel blue coat, and it’s sophisticated shape. You will probably know that I am on a bit of a blouse ‘high’ so the blouse above definitely caught my eye! I love the print and shape of the dress (3) and how even though it is rather plain, it still looks so interesting. I think the t-shirt is really cool too, sort of illustrative but funky, and nobody can beat a bit of monochrome! The ‘Laura Dress’ (5) is also divine, especially the back of it which is open. Definitely a dress which you could wear to the beach at night time and drink back a few cocktails (my drink of choice would be a non-alcoholic Cinderella. If you have yet to drink it, then you are missing out!) The checked trousers are a really nice addition too. Simple, classy and very versatile, and could be worn with the t-shirt and coat, perfectly! Très jolie 😉

I hope you liked learning about this lovely french designer! The next part of my A-Z Fashion Guide will be beginning with B! If you have any guesses of what it could ‘B’ 😉 leave a comment below!

My Style: ‘Trolly’ Dolly Posh*

By March 15, 2014 My Style

Howdy awesome peeps! Hope you are good! If not, I hope this post and it’s very ‘punny’ name makes you feel better 😉 It’s definitely getting warmer where I am, the pool cover is off (showing a very green pond) and the sky has been blue for about 4 days in a row… keep it together weather, please!

Ermagherd. I love this outfit SO SO SO much! It’s such a random outfit, but somehow I just love it! I don’t care about the stares I get from annoying french people (seriously though, who teaches them that staring is not rude?!), I love this outfit and that is all that matters. I mean… a New York slogan top = Carrie Diaries, a troll necklace = retro and my new nickname, uhum, Trolly Dolly Posh, puffy skirt = pastel perfectness AND floral Dr Marten’s (which can I just say, are so comfortable) = what more could you want?! I am actually obsessed. I just want to wear it everyday! Come on sun, just be that tad warmer so I don’t have to wear annoying skin coloured tights…

It was crazy! There was this one ride which had little ponies for children to ride on 🙁 I don’t understand the french, they just don’t have the same thoughts about animals as us English folk! On a positive note… look how cool my little ‘troll family’ look against the bright lights… awesome! I wore the same outfit but as it was too dark, I couldn’t do the snazzy pictures with bright bokeh in the background, urgh. Not cool… 😉

my style peacocks chelsea doll troll family necklace master shoe floral dr martens my style peacocks chelsea doll troll family necklace master shoe floral dr martensI will be doing a full review on these beauties, but I couldn’t resist wearing them in this outfit! Before I do that post though… these honestly are SO FREAKING COOL! As you will know, I adore Dr Martens. They are not only fabulous practicality wise, they also look beautiful, and these are the cherry on the top! I feel a bit proud of myself really, because when I got my first pair from a jumble sale last year, I never imagined that the next year I would be getting a pair as a gift for my blog!?! Eeee, just looking at them makes me feel giddy! You could win yourself some if you head over to Bundle too! Hurry up summer time so I can wear cool vintage shorts and a floppy hat and nice bikini and be all like ‘Look at me like I’m from Tumblr, wearing boots and shorts…’ 😉 😉 Wearing my puffy tutu again has made me realise why I bought it in the first place. Definitely going to put it out so I remember to wear it more! It’s gorgeous!

my style peacocks chelsea doll troll family necklace master shoe floral dr martensI thought I would leave you with this ‘alright’ picture and this really weird and funny looking picture of me! I do pull some funny faces… if you were to zoom in on that picture on the right, you’d see that my chin is actually really weird, and that it can bend inwards and go into the pointiest shape ever. Oh well that is life… nobody is perfect and all that jazz! Well… outfits can be perfect, and this is one of them! …in my opinion! Actually who cares?! This outfit IS perfect, no matter what you say. Yeah. Hmmmm. Yes, I did just get sassy with you. Ooh yeah. YEAH. Okay, now I’m just talking to myself because hopefully you are in the comments section… or now you are… hmm… you better be. *sighs at self and decides to look up people who are not weird and mimic them… then realises that that is impossible if you are already weird* THE END.

Bundle: An Online Blogging Community

By March 12, 2014 Competitions, DIY & Lifestyle

Over the past few months, I have kept something under wraps… I have been hinting in tweets with *cough* from time to time, but I haven’t actually ever told you what I was doing, so today is the day! There are a few reasons why I didn’t tell you, but if you read on, you will know exactly what I am talking about! 🙂

bundle magazine online blogging community fashion lifestyle and beauty bloggersThe thing I have been working on for the past few months is a new site! It’s not another blog, don’t worry TDPFashion is certainly staying put, but it’s created by moi! A while back (i.e last August), I had an idea, and I decided to give it a go. That idea, was an online community, just for bloggers! A place where bloggers can connect, share and blog all in one tidy space without any non-bloggers (we love you really) getting in the way! So after a while of forgetting about it, the new year called for a new start. I got back to it and really started it up. After getting test bloggers, and turning the site off and on again over 100 times, I believe it is ready to let my baby free! If it wasn’t ready then I wouldn’t be writing this blog post… duhh! The site is called Bundle (Mag), mainly Bundle but with a blog/magazine on the side!

The reason I didn’t tell you until now is because I know some people may judge when they hear ‘a teen blogger has made an online blogging community‘. Some people might think it is a bit of a naff site made on Wix (we’ve all been there), and that it really has no purpose. I am here to prove those people wrong! I hope it doesn’t seem like a naff site, because although I couldn’t get high-end site designers to help me, I have tried my best to make it look and feel good! It was really interesting learning how a community site works and how to pull it all together, and I hope you like the outcome of it all! It’s really easy to sign up, you can watch this video here too…

bundle magazine online blogging community fashion lifestyle and beauty bloggersgive-awayI really like it! I think it’s really helpful, and I have already found some great bloggers just from gathering up test ones! As you can see there are many features… you can add people as friends, talk in groups and forums, become blogger of the week, find out what Twitter chats are on, you can even write for the Bundle ‘magazine’! How cool?! Make sure you sign up as there is a give-away for £100 at MasterShoe My Shu! That is pretty cool, I must say… I really do hope you like it and I definitely recommend signing up… 😉 hehe!

Thank you so much for supporting my ideas as usual! That is one of the kicks of starting new projects because I know you guys will love it! 😀

Blogging Top Tips: Cameras & Lenses

By March 10, 2014 DIY & Lifestyle

I’ve been thinking for a while about getting my Blogging Top Tips series back on the road again, so here I am! It’s back! I’m pretty sure everybody enjoyed it last year, but there were a few things that I missed off the list. In the next few months I am going to cover a few things including Cameras & Lenses, Search Engine Optimisation, and many other things which bloggers might need to know! I hope it is helpful, and that you take something from it!

blogging top tips cameras and lenses for blogging nikon d3200Options for Cameras –

Generally, people say that your blog will be more unique and interesting if you use your own images, and I totally agree with that statement. Using other people’s images for things can make it slightly rigid and boring, in my opinion, so that is why most bloggers will have this question on their mind at some point: ‘What camera should I buy?’  A lot of people go, ‘I think I’ll buy a DSLR’, without even thinking of the other options…

The first option is, your smart phone or tablet. Of course this way of doing it won’t be as high quality, but most people have one with them so it’s an easy option. The second option is a digital camera. For quite a long time I was using an old digital camera which was pretty good quality and just had it’s simple built in zoom lens, and it worked fine. Going for this option it will save you quite a bit of money also. The third option, is going for a Digital Single-lens Reflex camera (a DSLR), which usually have a hefty price tag of over £200, which can be a lot to spend for just your blog. Although these are really good quality and you can produce professional looking shots, you do have to learn a lot more before you can say ‘I’m such a good photographer’ just because you have an expensive camera.

SKIP TO:   Smart Phones & Tablets // Digital Cameras // DSLR Cameras

Smart Phones & Tablets –

blogging top tips cameras and lenses for blogging nikon d3200Using a smart phone like an iPhone or Android, is actually quite easy. It seems hard to get a good shot but there are several things which will enhance your final images. The 3 things which you need to remember to do are: 1 – Focus, focus, focusMake sure you tap on your screen on the subject to bring it in to focus. It’s the most important thing to make sure you do, as it will increase the quality of your picture. 2 – LightingYou need to make sure you are taking your pictures either outside, or by a window. It will make the clarity of the shot better and it will make focusing easier. 3 – Save in full sizeWhen emailing or downloading the image off your device, make sure you click ‘Actual Size’ because it will save it in full quality, and you’ll be able to resize it to your blog photo width. Another benefit of using a phone is the fact that you can Instagram and share your images directly from your phone! Bonus! If you want to see an example of ‘great’ (IMO) iPhone photography, look at this picture I took last year!

Digital Cameras –

blogging top tips cameras and lenses for blogging nikon d3200Using a digital camera will increase the quality of your shots, create a better depth of field as well as focus things better. The cost of these cameras can start from just £50.00 and have most functions which you might want from a DSLR like filming in high quality, and take great landscape pictures. They’re also compact and small so they are great for things like travel, or vlogging which a lot of bloggers do on the side. I’d recommend investing in one of these if you are starting out and do really want your pictures to be better quality.

DSLR Cameras –

blogging top tips cameras and lenses for blogging nikon d3200This is the part of this post where I really want to let people know why they should and shouldn’t buy a DSLR camera. It may seem obvious to buy one, but they aren’t for everyone. With DSLRs, the quality is outstandingly better than a compact camera or smart phone. Not only can you save images in amazing quality, you can adjust things a lot easier like ISO, Aperture, Shutter Speed etc. There also lots of different cameras for different things, which means making a decision for you is quite easy. Filming quality is immensely better in appearance and sound.

As you can see DSLRs, are good options as they are all rounders, but there are some reasons to be careful on making this big decision. 1 – PriceThe price of these cameras are quite a lot which means you might be saving for a while, or you might be with a loss of coins for a while. 2 – WeightTravelling and using a DSLR out and about, can be quite tricky. These cameras are heavy things so if you are going from one place to another taking pictures, this might get in the way. 3 – Other ExpensesThings like cases, lens pens, SD cards, straps, tripods, lighting (optional) and repairs, all add up in price, so they are expensive to maintain.

Choosing The Right DSLR –

Nikon & Canon are the best brands to go too if you want to buy a DSLR. There are several options from each brand all at different price ranges. If you are beginner with these cameras, I suggest the Nikon D3200 as it is quite cheap compared to others and you can usually get a good deal with a kit lens. When you do come to chose one you need to make sure that you are getting a camera which is compatible with most lenses. The Nikon D3200 which I use isn’t compatible with older lenses which don’t have AF-S, so some lenses can only work with Manual focus. It’s definitely something to think about. Just so you know, all pictures in this post were taken on a Nikon D3200 with a 50mm 1.8d lens!

Lenses –

You don’t necessarily need to have more than 1 lens after you have a kit lens because they are pretty good. The difference between lenses include Aperture & Zoom. For most bloggers a kit lens (usually 18-55mm Zoom with f/3.5-5.6) will do, but if you really want your photos to stand out from the crowd and look nice and pretty with bokeh (blur in the background), then you want to look at lenses with lower F stops. The 50mm or 35mm f/1.8 lenses are brilliant options for DSLRs as they have amazing depth of fields and can create awesome bokeh. The 50mm f/1.8 is the cheapest option of all of the lenses for most brands, so I’d definitely look into it.

blogging top tips cameras and lenses for blogging nikon d3200What Now?

You’re probably now thinking, well what now? It’s a hard decision choosing a camera, but if I were you I would go along with something like the above. If you are a new blogger, I would go for (or keep) a Smartphone or Tablet because it is pretty good quality when you listen to the 3 steps I listed. Then maybe move up to a Digital Compact Camera which isn’t that much money and will be helpful even when you are not blogging! When you reach 2 full years of blogging, I would look into DSLRs. Of course this is just what I recommend for newer bloggers, but if you want to, go full steam ahead! My sister who is starting up a baby blog (so excited! 😀 ) has already bought her self the Nikon D3200 and is getting the practice in, so if you feel like it, go with your gut! This is just my opinion and advice!

Good Luck! I also recommend checking out these 3 lovely bloggers who know quite a bit of tech-y photography stuff: Carrie//Natasha//Sarah

AW14′ London Fashion Week Collections Review #2

By March 8, 2014 General

Hello everyone! I am sat here with a stinking cold, looking out to clear blue skies, but today I have Part 2 of my AW14′ London Fashion Week Collections Review and I hope you like it! Thanks for the comments on the previous one, and if you missed it, you can read from A-the 1st L (haaaa) here.

London College of Fashion MA AW15' London Fashion Week Review

London College of Fashion MA: A ‘multiple’ collections show from the MA students at the London College of Fashion. This was the collection that caught my eye. I don’t know who it is by, but I LOVE it. It’s so interesting and so me. I love the mix of textures and prints as well as structure. I love the faux fur too! My favourite looks are the ones in the middle. I love how the blue tartan is ruffled and I love the sort of mesh style coat. Absolutely gorgeous! Rating: 100/10

Matthew Williamson AW15' London Fashion Week Review

Matthew Williamson: A new discovery is Matthew Williamson. I really liked his collection with the pastel blue, and I adore the trousers (far left), and I wish I owned them! The print is simple, but the colour makes it way more magical. I also quite liked the embellished dress with the faux fur jacket, very snazzy. Not too keen on the sort of lycra stretchy material though…. Rating: 9/10

Meadham Kirchhoff AW15' London Fashion Week ReviewMeadham Kirchhoff: I’ve never been the biggest MK fan, but I enjoyed watching the show for AW14. It is a very big mish mash of different styles, from romantic pieces, to gothic brocade, and the metallic pieces. I feel like it’s what a young girl would put on her dolls in her dolls house, and nothing would really match but everyone would praise what she had done to them. I’m not saying I don’t like the collection, but I’m not saying I do like the collection. I will leave you to make that decision! Rating: 7.5/10

Mulberry Cara Delevingne AW15' London Fashion Week ReviewMulberry & Cara Delevingne: The big reveal for LFW was the Mulberry and Cara Delevingne collaboration. As you will know, Mulberry is close to home for me so I was really interested in seeing what the collection is all about and I am so happy! It’s definitely a ‘Cara D’ collection, as all the bags come as rucksacks which is not only practical but also exactly the kind of thing Cara goes for. My favourites are the monochrome camouflage ones, I’d love to have one of them on my back! Rating: 9/10

Peter Pilotto AW15' London Fashion Week Review

Peter Pilotto: Hmmm. Hmmm. Hmmm. The reason I am ‘hmmm’-ing is because there was no Mary Katrantzou in the ‘M’ section of this post, and that is because I didn’t like the collection, and that upsets me, so I went out on a search for a replacement and found Peter Pilotto. I had heard of his Target collaboration so was intrigued when I was looking through this lot. I do quite like the pieces. They are simple yet the silhouettes and prints make them stand out. Although I don’t think I could say that I have found a new, better version of Mary K, Pilotto has certainly made me happy by filling in the gaping whole of mixing prints. Rating: 8/10

Shao Yen AW15' London Fashion Week ReviewShao Yen: Another new discovery! I really like this collection, and I love the mix of styles. It’s not a jumble like Meadham K, it’s a subtle mix. My favourite pieces are the sculptured round skirt and the grey look with the cape. I do feel it is slightly ruined by the faux fur as it adds that element of ‘tacky’ to it unfortunately. It’s nice though, and I will definitely keep my eye on Yen in September! Rating: 8/10

Sophia Webster AW15' London Fashion Week Review Sophia Webster2 AW15' London Fashion Week ReviewSophia Webster: Oh my word. I loved her in SS14 and I love her in AW14. Mrs Webster, you go girl! I am obsessed with this collection. The colours and the prints are amazing. The backpack and the wedges remind me of Dolly Mixtures and those knee high flats and those pastel clear boots and those shiny robot heels and all the colour and all of it, and oh my gosh I could go on and on. I LOVE IT OKAY. I LOVE IT. It’s just so nice and I am so glad that pastel is going to still be around for AW14. Urgh, now I just have an urge to save up all my pennies and buy it all, but life and bills and taxes and stuff (jokes, I’m 13). Rating: Infinity/10 (that’s a pretty good rating)

Sorapol AW15' London Fashion Week ReviewSorapol: I decided I would feature this collection just because it is so weird but also wonderful. Sorapol’s collections may be extravagant but some of the pieces always make me smile. I could imagine some of these pieces being in Star Wars (there has been a lot of Star Wars mentioned in these posts). My favourite piece is the lace dress in the middle. So beautiful, yet it has that element of sexiness (oh gosh Tolly, #cheese). This collection also reminds me that I need to do that interview with their Creative Director (Daniel Lismore). It’s well overdue! Rating: 8/10

Topshop UNIQUE AW15' London Fashion Week ReviewTopshop UNIQUE: This collection is always interesting because it is just so… ODD. It’s like Topshop are trying to be a high end designer brand but it never really works out that well… in my opinion. I have to say though, it didn’t disappoint me too much this time around. I like elements of it like the sheer embellished tops and the ‘LBDs’, but I still don’t really get it. I can see the Topshop vibes running through but to be honest… it’s nothing special. Sorry peeps, but that is purely my opinion! I made a joke (well…  it’s kind of true) where if I was behind Anna Wintour at the show I would poke her on the shoulder and point at the other person if she turned around… just for the LOL factor. Rating: 7/10

Vivienne Westwood AW15' London Fashion Week ReviewVivienne Westwood: The last, but certainly not least of all the collections, is… *fan fair* Vivienne Westwood. Oh dear lord of all things fashion, I LOVE IT. It’s not particularly ‘me’, but I still adore it. The models have such charisma and sass (sass to the sass, roll over, roll over – random thing I made up whilst talking to Anna, don’t ask!), and the clothes just add to it. My favourite looks are the monochrome stripe dress and the regal style dress with the red sash. It’s all very Westwood style, but something just makes this collection 100 times better than last AW14. I praise Vivienne, because it really is a beautiful collection. *All hail Dame Westwood* Rating: 100/10

I hope you liked this final instalment of the AW14′ London Fashion Week Collections. There were a few others which I skipped off the list just because I found them very odd indeed. How on earth is Hunter now got a slot at the shows?! The show was interesting because there was a water catwalk and Dynamo ended the show, but the clothes were not worth speaking about. So there we have it until September! Lets all cross our fingers and toes that I will actually be there at the shows for the SS15 collections… I have a feeling it could be my first LFW! 😀 😀 😀

My Style: London Retro & A Give-Away*

By March 5, 2014 Competitions, My Style

Hello! I will explain my theory further in this post, but I believe it maybe my first OOTD of Spring…. oh yes. It is so beautiful outside whilst I write this (sitting on a table by the window – actually quite uncomfortable being a bony person), and I cannot wait to start sitting outside more. Enjoy this blog post because it has a GIVE-AWAY in it and you know what that means 😉

What I Wore: Faux Leather Biker Jacket £46.99 (Hearts & Bows – ARK)*, French Navy Bouquet Blouse (Joules)*, Blue and White Skirt €5.00 (Jumble Sale), Blue Floral Keds (ASOS), NANCY Sunglasses (London Retro – My Optique)* & Facial Ring Set (Rings & Tings)*

This outfit is a really good transitional outfit in my opinion. The top half is quite autumnal and the bottom half quite spring like, but the way the blouse picks out the blue from the skirt, makes it acceptable. I have been wearing this faux leather and blouse combo so much since I received them both, and I am literally obsessed. Not only have I really been wanting a faux leather jacket for years, I am also on a bit of a ‘blouse high’. I’ve never been the biggest Joules fan, but my thoughts on the brand have definitely changed since getting this blouse because 1, the women’s shirts are amazing quality, and 2 – just because it has the sort of ‘Polo’ ‘Horse Riding’ theme around the brand, it doesn’t mean you have to style it that way which you can see by this outfit! The leather jacket is so nice, and it fits amazingly. It’s not shiny either so it looks really nice and not tacky. I absolutely love my bargain skirt too but the one thing is the buttons… I think I might do a bit of a tweak to them. Overall as I said, I really like this outfit and it has a good balance of colours and styles.

I’ve had my blue floral Keds for about a year now. I had some navy ones (I am pretty sure they were kids – much better size for my slim feet!) but I grew out of them, and just couldn’t live without them, so I went on ASOS and saw they were way cheaper than Schuh or Keds, and snapped up a pair, but unfortunately ‘adult sized’ Keds don’t fit me as well, so although they fit after yonks of waiting, they are still slightly sloppy. In terms of jewellery in this OOTD, I went with my 3 rings from Rings & Tings, which are gorgeous. I’m not the biggest fan of the lips one, but I think the eye and the faux ruby look amazing. I’ve never really worn gold and silver together, but I think they look very nice together.

The sunglasses I am wearing are from London Retro. As a blogger I know all the gossip about PR reviews and things like that, and reviewing a pair of these I guess is known as ‘controversial’, but I decided I would review them for you, and let everybody know what they are really like. I’m a big fan of quite round sunglasses because I think they look really summery and (London) retro 😉 😉 and when I first tried these on, I wasn’t quite sure they suited me, but looking back at these pictures, I have decided they don’t look half bad!  I would have to say I am more of a ‘big’ sunglasses fan, and these come  up quite small on me, which is one thing to take into consideration seeing as I am only a small little person. One thing I found different compared to the pictures on the site is that the blue in the tortoise shell doesn’t come up as bright and as obvious. For those of you who need prescription lenses, these are available like that too! If you would like to win ANY pair from London Retro… here is what you need to do…

Monthly Obsessions: HONY, Love Hearts & Shrimps

By March 3, 2014 General

No don’t worry I’m not already doing my March Monthly Obsessions! I’m showing you my February ones because my blog schedule was so busy this past month so I have to do it now, but I’m pretty sure that isn’t really a problem! I hope you enjoy!

HONY – Humans of New York: Recently I discovered the amazing Facebook page which is HONY. There is something quite magical about seeing a person’s face in your Timeline and learning about their story. Sometimes the stories are sad, and sometimes they are inspiring but whatever the story is, each one puts a smile on my face. It’s amazing how many stories we do pass each day and not knowing whether they might be in the same boat as you are, or a completely separate one. Another thing I love about HONY is the ‘Today in Micro-fashion’ section, which features pictures of small toddlers in their amazing clothes just like the ones above. Honestly the best decision of following or liking someone, you will make! Check out HONY here.

Tumblr Inspirations: I thought I would make this a permanent feature of my Monthly Obsession posts and just show you what I have been re-blogging recently! I love inspirational quotes or sarcastic images of Harry Styles (I’m NOT a 1D fan or a fan of him, just to clear that up…), and I have a new found love for Dan Smith’s face. I also love pastel blue hair as well dreaming of making a Polly Pocket necklace sometime in the hopefully near future. I had a bit of a non-Tumblring gap after the New Year but I think I have rekindled my obsession for it again. Check out my Tumblr here or click the link in the sidebar.

Love ‘Conversation’ Heart Sweets: Before Valentine’s Day (which I do not give a poop about – no that is not my ‘I have no boyfriend’ whimperalthough that fact is 100% true… blimey, give a 13 year old a break) I had a bit of a Eureka moment, of the DIY kind, which involved the amazingly delicious fizzy sweets called Love Hearts or ‘Conversation’ Hearts for you American people. I won’t tell you what it is because I am still waiting for ‘part’ of it to be delivered, but you will soon find out. Keep your eyes peeled… actually don’t do that because then sadly you would be blind and since I was recently reading a book with a blind person in it, I’m sure that wouldn’t be too nice… ‘OMG. Tolly you were not reading The Fault In Our Stars were you?!’… ‘Yes, and I didn’t actually find it that great!’

Shrimps: I believe that recently there has been a boom in the coloured faux fur section of the world and I’m happy. I’m especially happy because I discovered Shrimps and I am in love. Their designs are so simple, yet I would absolutely LOVE to have every single piece that they have because they are all so colourful and soft and furry and *Ooooh*. I love their Look Book too. It’s very retro and vintage and I like that kinda’ thing. *Puts all of their pieces onto mental wishlist* Check out Shrimps here.

Tie Dye Eyes Photoshoot: Wasn’t quite sure what to call this but I settled with a simple caption. Allie (from Tie Dye Eyes) modelled for a photoshoot by Rachel, and I absolutely love the pictures! The feathers are just a beautiful border, and they look really professional. There’s another picture where you can see Allie’s eyes so clearly and they are incredible! One is green and one is blue… pretty cool. Check out Allie’s blog here and Rachel’s portfolio here

I hope you liked this blog post! If you did make sure to leave a comment down below telling me some of your monthly obsessions! 😀
