9 Pairs of Shoes Kimmy Schmidt Would Totally Purchase*

By April 9, 2015 Fashion

If you haven’t seen my endless ‘females are strong as hell’ and ‘unbreakable, dammit’ tweets, then you won’t know that I recently finished watching Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. And let me tell you, it was awesome! It’s a comedy full of feminism and awesome fashion choices, what’s not to love? So today I’ve picked 9 (it would be 10 but I’m weird like that) pairs of ‘Kimmy Schmidt shoes’! Let me know which is your favourite pair in the comments!

Kimmy Schmidt Shoes - Jones Boot Maker, ASOS, Dr Martens

Converse £40.00 (Jones Boot Maker)* // Adidas £70.00 (ASOS) // ASOS Jelly Shoes £10.00 // Dr Martens £79.98 (Mastershoe)

For the flats category, I picked out a mixture of simplicity, print, colour and comfort. I think that’s what Kimmy is all about; she’s a right mixture of everything. For comfort and print, I went for these super cute Converse from Jones Boot Maker! I think they look pretty cute, right? I also think she’d love these Dr Martens too… I personally really need a new pair in my collection! What do you think of those Adidas too? I kinda’ like them, they almost look like they’ve been dipped into paint? Funky.

ASOS Spotty Heels £35.00 // Orla Kiely £120.00 (Clarks) // ASOS Strappy Heels £35.00 // Heeled Sandals £79.00 (Jones Boot Maker)* // Vagabonds £74.99 (Mastershoe)

Believe it or not, Kimmy did indeed dabble in heels throughout the series and I think this selection is perfect. They’re all very simple and classic shapes and styles but all have that touch of excitement and fun. I think you can probably tell that they’re all very bold and I love that! Kimmy (and every character) are so full of life and I think that is definitely portrayed in what they all wear. If you have seen the show, who is your favourite character and which pair of Kimmy Schmidt shoes did you like the most?

My Style: He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not*

By April 5, 2015 My Style

Sound the alarm bells! These pictures weren’t taken on my drive way! Hooray! Prepare yourself for a very rare treat of a colourful backdrop, and the very first glimpse of summer! Yay! Okay, in all seriousness I really am excited for these photos. My family might not be too happy I dragged them around trying to find somewhere to take them but I am! 😀

When the sun comes out, come out. For some reason it’s like my inner stylist pops out as soon as I can leave the house without a jacket, and I’m so glad. I really did think I’d lost my mojo for picking out cool outfits but I think today’s pickings are quite good. I would say that what I’m wearing isn’t to everyone’s taste but I’m okay with that. Speaking of being okay with that, would you mind clicking off after this post and filling out a quick survey I’m doing for some research? Tah!

I recently received these bizarre yet super funky Jonathan Aston tights from MyTights.com, and I knew I had to show them off in full form, so I went with my KENZO shorts (probably my favourite ever jumble sale buy) on top. I then added my cool (kids club) jumper 😉 I think the mix of 2 floral prints and 2 bold slogans is an interesting combination… what do you think?

This outfit shows that I’m obsessed with blue. It’s probably my favourite colour because it’s bold, versatile and suits every mood I’m in. My wardrobe seems to be full of blue floral prints and it just seemed to work in this outfit. It’s also told me that I need to go to some more jumble sales because they seriously do have hidden treasures. I mean… look at my shorts?! I’m pretty certain they were only €1.00!

My sunglasses are freakin’ awesome too. The shape is growing on me and the print is too. Of course just like my jumper, they’re from ASOS; Ahh, I love ASOS… I mean I LOVE ASOS.

So I suppose I should celebrate this jumble of an outfit! It’s full of rediscovered jems, interesting tights (that I’m also learning to love) and shorts which give out those spring/summer vibes. Here’s to making up outfits in the form of late night doodles and to posing infront of brightly coloured doors. Roll on the summer! 😀

Illustrated Fashion Bloggers & Floral Crowns

By April 1, 2015 General

I like to draw. I like to create and I really like to illustrate. I also love floral crowns and I kinda’ like fashion bloggers too, so I guess if you mix all of those things together, you get a pretty cool combination. So today, I’m sharing the outcome of that pretty cool combination in this ‘floral crowns and fashion bloggers’ illustration series… ooh yeah…

Illustrated Fashion Bloggers Carrie WishWishWish.net~ CARRIE: WISHWISHWISH.NET ~

This is probably my favourite of the three I completed (well 4, I did actually draw the darling Liv Purvis but unfortunately I wasn’t 100% happy with it) as it’s just so pretty. This is probably one of my favourite pictures of Carrie ever (I mean to be fair most of her pictures are absolutely stunning), so I knew I had to transform it into my very own piece of artwork. I’m pretty fond of the bone structure (never thought I would every say that in a blog post!) I managed to produce and the glossiness of Carrie’s eyes… okay this is getting weird, but I do really love this one… although, it does make me sad that I don’t have the dress she’s wearing, I wanted it for such a long time!

carrieCarrie’s blog is a beautifully glossy fashion and photography blog which you should all follow. She’s recently started to dabble in YouTube and her recent vlogs have been equally as gorgeous as her photographs. Follow her on Bloglovin!

Illustrated Fashion Bloggers Kailey Mermaidens.Blogspot.Com~ KAILEY: MERMAIDENS.BLOGSPOT.COM ~

This is the first illustration I completed so you may have already seen it on my Twitter/Facebook/Instagram! It’s a slightly different style to the other two but it doesn’t matter because I think it portrayed Kailey’s pastel perfect hair and make-up really well! This picture is from a self-portrait Kailey did recently and it really does sums up who she is, which I love. I’ve seen other people’s illustrations of this picture too so it’s super inspiring to see the different techniques that are used.

KaileyIf you like all things pastel and you like photoshoots involving burgers and donuts, then you’re in for a treat over on Mermaidens! Don’t forget to follow Kailey’s Instagram too, it’s a beautiful account which even Instagram themselves have been loving (yeah, they posted her picture). Follow her on BlogLovin!

Illustrated Fashion Bloggers Emily Jane Blog EmilyJane.Typepad.com~ EMILY: EMILYJANE.TYPEPAD.COM ~

I couldn’t leave out the teen bloggers of the world so I scoured back through my favourites and found this photograph of Emily and started work on it immediately! Although there are a few imperfections here and there, I’m really happy with this one too (that’s about the 1,164,912,301,923th time I’ve said that isn’t it?). I especially like how the floral crown worked out.  I also love Emily’s pose in this… it’s so fun and it makes me so envious of her Instax camera…!

Emily JaneEmily is a teen blogger I’ve admired for a long while now. Her photographs always consistently cute and she has worked with some amazing brands and people. I think it’s really cool to see another teen blogger being so consistent and for sticking at it for so long! She’s 16 now and totally deserves a follow! Follow her on BlogLovin!

I hope you enjoyed this mini set of floral crowns and fashion bloggers! I’m really happy with these and was actually kinda’ contemplating setting them up for sale (if the lovely ladies allowed me) but for now I’ll pin them up in my room and appreciate their amazing talents which I enjoy reading on a daily basis! 🙂

3 Years of Blogging | How Do I Blog?

By March 29, 2015 General

I am really really excited (and kinda’ freaked out) to say that my blog has turned 3 today! 3 years old. Wow. I seriously find that absolutely mad to think about. I honestly cannot thank you enough for supporting me for this long and giving me so many amazing opportunities, it’s been an awesome experience. You may remember last year on this very same day, I put up a post answering the question, ‘Why Do I Blog?‘, so this year I thought I’d answer ‘How Do I Blog?’. To celebrate my 619th blog post and 1095 days of Tolly Dolly Posh Fashion, here’s a little insight into my creative process… (excuse the messy/curly hair by the way… curls just don’t work with me!)…

How Do I Blog - Leavershoodies ASOS Fashion Blogger OOTD

How Do I Blog - Leavershoodies ASOS Fashion Blogger OOTD

How Do I Blog - Leavershoodies ASOS Fashion Blogger OOTD~ STEP 1 – THE INSPIRATION ~

The first place I go to for blogging inspiration when I’m a bit of a rut is magazines. I find them really inspiring to flick through. Back in the day I used to love Company Magazine (as most of my posts were celebrity style etc etc) but now-a-days I love more photographic and editorial magazines like VOGUE, Glamour and more recently, Wonderland.

I also love to scroll through places like Business of Fashion and Pinterest because you can find some really interesting articles and just one idea or thought can spiral into hundreds (okay, maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration) of others.

TOP TIP: Put on some headphones, listen to some music which you love and flick through your favourite magazine. I always end up in a different mindset for new ideas after the album/playlist ends.

How Do I Blog - Leavershoodies ASOS Fashion Blogger OOTD~ STEP 2 – JOTTING & DRAFTING ~

Next up is to get jotting down notes. I find it super helpful to have everything planned out before hand, especially if I’m taking pictures. I don’t usually do this for wishlists or the actual writing (although, I do, do that for long, chatty posts… like this one!) but either way, I would definitely recommend this if you’re also a blogger.

I have a notepad for this and some pens specifically set aside but if you’re an online-tech-obsessive then I recommend Evernote. I didn’t actually use a notepad for this post but I in fact used the web app for Evernote and thoroughly enjoyed typing it out. When I haven’t taken my pictures, I usually prefer to do it out of my actual blog so it’s free of the frills and extra bits and bobs that is behind the scenes usually.

TOP TIP: Have a notebook set aside just for your blog. Label everything clearly and fold down pages when you’ve published a post you’ve written down. It’s such a handy and easy way to stay organised.

How Do I Blog - Leavershoodies ASOS Fashion Blogger OOTD~ STEP 3: PHOTOGRAPHY ~

These days I would say a good 90% of my blog posts have photographs I have taken myself included within them, so my 3rd step is to get ‘shooting’ (I have to say, I feel most bloggers use this term just to sound a bit more fancy… “Ooh, I’m off to shoot an outfit post…”). As most of you will know, Papa Posh (my dad), usually takes all of my outfit posts, but if I’m not in the picture, then I’m sure to be behind the lens. I will say though that most of these pictures and my prom outfit post were mainly taken by my big bro!

I use the Nikon D3200 with my trusty 35mm f/1.8 DX lens (Phyllis is her name), and they’re a nifty little combo. A few other items in my ‘kit’ are an IKEA side table – it’s perfect for taking pictures of things like my scrapbook, a set of 2 soft box lights – great for when I sometimes dabble in YouTube and for photos I take inside – a white wall – for posing in front of – and a very large memory card.

TOP TIP: For outfits, read what my dad has learnt whilst taking my pictures, and for other sorts of pictures, just remember to have clear daylight… not too bright, no harsh shadows and not too much clutter… unless you want that kinda’ look!

How Do I Blog - Leavershoodies ASOS Fashion Blogger OOTD~ STEP 4: CROP, EDIT, SAVE, REPEAT ~

So, unfortunately, I’m not going to show you how I edit my photos completely because there are some secrets that must never be told… but I will tell you that I use Photoshop CS4! I first of all save my photos on to my laptop, then I create a new folder with 3 seperate folders inside (‘Originals’, ‘Edited’ & ‘Un-used’), move the originals into the ‘Originals’ folder, choose what set of effects I want, then I open up 4 images at a time, crop each one to size, paste them separately into my ‘effects file’, tweak what needs tweaking, click ‘File’, ‘Save As’, ‘.jpeg’ into the ‘Edited’ folder… and… REPEAT!

Haha! Imagine how long that takes me with outfit pictures…! I don’t mind though, I actually really enjoy that part. Especially when my lens makes a nice bit of bokeh for me to look at, then I’m happy!

TOP TIP: Don’t over edit. What I listed above sounds like a lot, but what I actually change isn’t much. Unless you want that photographic style, don’t go too overboard with things like contrast and sharpening, it can really ruin an image sometimes.

How Do I Blog - Leavershoodies ASOS Fashion Blogger OOTD~ STEP 5: FINGERS ON THE KEYBOARD ~

We’re almost finished! Next up, I like to type it all out. Once I’ve uploaded the images, I think up a whitty yet SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) loving title and start typing! As you will know, I do a paragraph of introductory chattiness and then get on with the post. Depending on what I write, depends on how I lay it out, which also determines the length of each post.

I think it takes a while to find your blogging voice and I’ve probably only just started to find mine after 3 years (eek, scary to say that), so don’t panic. Don’t force yourself either, if you don’t love a post, then you don’t have to post it!

TOP TIP: The small details are really important. Remember the basic rules of writing; paragraphs, correct grammar and punctuation. Be yourself too! Be chatty, be serious, be whatever you want to be!

How Do I Blog - Leavershoodies ASOS Fashion Blogger OOTD~ STEP 6: SHARING IS CARING ~

It’s time to click the publish button! But first I schedule the post… I never used to do this, but now I do because it gives me time to get my ducks in order. When I’ve scheduled my post, my blog will give me a link which I then feed into ‘bit.ly‘ and turn into a custom link (you may have seen ‘tdpf.co’ floating around… well now you know what that is!).

I then schedule a few tweets on Tweetdeck and a post on Facebook. I usually publish my posts at times which people are online (this is UK timing mind you), so that’s around 9 AM in the morning, 3 PM in the afternoon and 6.30 PM in the evening. Sometimes they’re later, sometimes they’re a  bit more random, but these are great timings to catch people on social media.

TOP TIP: Don’t over share! Not as in ‘TMI’, but don’t spam your followers with too many links. I try to limit myself but sometimes it’s easy to flood your feeds. 1 tweet an hour is quite a good amount, for perhaps 4 hours… but it’s good to space it out over 1 day.

How Do I Blog - Leavershoodies ASOS Fashion Blogger OOTD~ MY BLOGGING UNIFORM ~

Okay, I kid. I don’t actually have a ‘blogging uniform’ (heck, that’s what this blog is all about, wearing what you want), but I do have to say, comfort is key to me! I blog in bed, on my sofa, wherever, so I like to be comfy at the same time. I’m currently blogging in my awesome customised TDP hoodie. HOW COOL?! It’s awesome, right? I’m so so happy with how it came out and I love the cropped style. The quality is great too, and I think my signature works well, non? I can’t wait to challenge myself to style it up in the summer. I think it’s such a great idea if you have a group of friends to share it with too… #SquadGoals, am I right?

WHAT I WORE: Customised Cropped Hoodie (Leavers Hoodies)* // Super Crop Top (ASOS) // Spotty Trousers (ASOS)

Eeep! So I hope that was helpful to some of you and maybe it was a nice lil’ sneak peek into my life?! I just want to say a huge thank you once again for supporting this little blog of mine and I really hope you still enjoy reading this piece of the internet! Don’t leave me anytime soon as I should have some super exciting things coming up and of course the Mooi en Lief by Tolly Dolly Posh launch is just around the corner! Keep up to date with all things TDP by following me over on BlogLovin’ and signing up to my newsletter. I’ll speak to you soon…

My Style: An Unconventional Prom Outfit with Boohoo*

By March 25, 2015 My Style

So, as I mentioned a couple of posts ago, I’ve teamed up with Boohoo on a little prom outfit! Last year I worked with New Look, so it’s been really interesting to compare the two sites and what they have to offer. I’ve definitely noticed a difference which is why this is more of an ‘uncoventional’ prom outfit idea… but then, I’m pretty much always unconventional…

WHAT I WORE: Shaggy Faux Fur Jacket £20.00 (Boohoo)* // Magenta Prom Dress £18.00 (Boohoo)* // Metallic Temporary Tattoos £4.00 (Boohoo)* // Floral Necklace (Boohoo)* // Zebra Top (Jumble Sale) // Eye Clutch (Sunita Mukhi)* // White High Heels (New Look)*

Obviously (well to most people anyway), the dress is the most important part to a prom outfit. In my opinion, you could wear a jumpsuit, a top and trouser combo, anything you like, but a dress sometimes looks good too. This dress really jumped out at me for the colour and the shape. It’s actually an off-the-shoulder dress but due to me being a tiny little thing, it’s more like an… ‘off-the-elbow’ dress. I managed to save it and still make it look half prom like with my nifty zebra roll neck top. I honestly love that top.

I also honestly love this jacket. I have to be honest with you, it isn’t the best quality, but I think the texture is very unusual. Along with this prom dress, I’ve been loving wearing it with 70s style denim and chunky platform heels. It’s the perfect day-to-night piece, don’t you think? I think for a prom too, it’s a great cover up for those chilly nights.

For accessories, I decided to top the look off with a chunky necklace (which I actually, really, really love) and a cute, sparkly clutch. The necklace is a sort of raindrop style, dark transparent grey with a dark chunky chain… something I’d usually avoid but actually looks kinda’ funky on. Oh and the shoes you ask? Well they’re actually from last year’s prom post but I still love em’. I did however get some other Boohoo shoes which you can see styled up in this DIY blog post.

Unconventional Prom Outfit - Boohoo.com

You may noticed throughout this post that I have put some snazzy geometric overlays on my images… well, well, well. These are actually in fact metallic temporary tattoos! How cool? You can see them on me above. I’m so obsessed. It’s such a cool idea and adds that tiny detail extra. It’s all a great way to avoid wearing heavy jewellery and bracelets that fall off whilst you dance the night away. They really are quite shiny and I definitely need to purchase some more. SO. COOL.

What do you think of my prom outfit? What are you wearing for your prom? I’d love to know in the comments!

(Items marked with an * in this post were sent to me for review purposes. I was not paid to write or publish this blog post by Boohoo. Read my full dislcaimer here.)

Paris Fashion Week Inspired Fashion Design Sketches

By March 20, 2015 Designs

Wow-wa-wee-wah. What a day, huh? First a total eclipse happened in Europe (well, I saw a partial eclipse, but it was still pretty epic) and now a fashion design post? I was actually kind of unsure whether to publish these designs because I personally don’t think they’re great… but then I guess we’re all our own worst critics so I thought I’d leave it up to you to decide! They’re not digital which is something new, and that means imperfections like pencil marks and wobbly lines… but hey ho! Here are a few Paris Fashion Week inspired design sketches 🙂 Let me know what you think in the comments, I’d love some feedback!

Paris Fashion Week PFW Fashion Design Sketches

Red Skater Dress with Sequin Patches & Thigh High Leather Boots…

Over the fashion week period I noticed quite a lot of ‘sexy’ red pieces… yup! Skimpy red mini dresses and plunging neck lines. All very saucy indeed, so I decided to take that and make it my own. A figure hugging skater dress with sequin patches for a hint of glamour. The leather thigh high boots are also quite risqué and feature 2 panels of tight lacing to reveal skin and add to the drama of the look.

Leopard Panel Shirt & Striped Pencil Skirt with Tulle Hem…

I saw quite a bit of leopard print in some of the shows too, specifically at Miu Miu, and it really inspired me for this piece. Combined with another PFW trend of laid-back styles, I think it’s quite a cool combo! The skirt is perfect for tucking the shirt into and compliments the different colour panels. I also spotted hints of tulle down the Parisian runways, hence the cheeky bit of tulle hemming.

Paris Fashion Week PFW Fashion Design Sketches

Green and Orange Leopard Coat, Mesh and Tulle Skater Dress & Knee High Leather Boots…

Another Miu Miu inspired piece with this green and orange ombre print coat. The bold print is complimented by the sweet style of the collars and fitted arms. Bold buckles fit together at the cuffs for a more structured look. Underneath is a mesh and tulle skater dress for another touch of sauciness. The skirt of the dress is a thick layered tulle in bright yellow; this is also featured on the cuffs of the dress too! A similar pair of leather boots but instead of two panels, just the one laced panel down the front to elongate the wearers legs. What do you think?

High Neck Cape-Top & Striped Mini Skirt with Tulle Hem…

One trend for AW 15/16 that seemed stronger than ever, was the all-black combination. This look is sort of inspired by lots of different shows but now that I look at it, it does sort of remind me of the Chanel show (such a cool show, set in a Parisian style cafe). The cape-top is a structure piece which looks like 2 separate layers. The bold white buttons have tulle detailing on them which joins in the with the skirt. The skirt of which is a striped mini skirt again with the same tulle hemming. The look would be paired with a white box clutch with the same tulle buttons as on the cape-top.

These designs are my own original ideas and I would really appreciate it if you didn’t publish/use these images without permission. Get in touch if you’d like to use them.

So yup! Do let me know what you think of these… I’ll try to post more designs but as my days get busier (I’m talking Mooi en Lief by Tolly Dolly Posh kinda’ busy) it’s pretty hard to publish them regularly. Anyhow, I shall be back soon.. watch out, it’s a prom post next 😀

Bohemian Bedroom Decor Ideas & Wishlist

By March 17, 2015 DIY & Lifestyle

So I wasn’t quite sure what to write about for today but seeing as I have been using Pinterest a lot more recently, I thought I would do a bit of a lifestyle post for you! I’m really eager to re-do my bedroom and make it more about me. I feel like my past few layouts and decor bits and bobs have all been to do with the furniture in the room so this time I just want to make it for me and my personal relaxation. So as you can tell by the title, have been loving boho things recently. So here are some bohemian bedroom decor ideas (and a lil’ wishlist)…

Bohemian Bedroom Ideas - Urban Outfitters, H&M, Society6~ THE INSPO: IMAGES VIA PINTEREST ~

Okay so I know these images don’t all look bohemian, but they’re a bit of a mix between both boho and minimalism. I really want to have statement pieces in my room, like bedding and feature posters on one wall. I think these pictures pretty much sum that up. Colour but in a very simple way, plus very rustic, paisley printed pieces thrown in. I’ve found my favourite place to stalk is Urban Outfitters, which is a place I would never normally shop, but some of their decor pieces are awesome. For a bit of fellow-blogger browsing, UO recently interviewed Sara from WAISTE which included pictures from her flat (which is basically the bomb.com), and I’m in awe!

Bohemian Bedroom Ideas - Urban Outfitters, H&M, Society6~ THE WANTS ~

I had a little look online and collected a few things which I’ve being eyeing up for a while and have displayed them for your viewing pleasure. I really really really like the idea of having a brightly coloured tapestry/rug behind my bed. I think it adds a cosy feeling but also adds that cool, bold design element too.

Like I mentioned above, I’d also like to have another wall which features several posters, especially the black and white typography kind. They match most colour schemes and you can pick out ones which are specifically tailored to your mood and style. I think then adding things like wall hangings and frames makes the wall even more interesting, and one day I’d love this bison skull hook in my room… SO COOL!

I also found this super cute cactus jewellery holder on H&M’s website and it’s so cute! I really need to de-clutter my jewellery stash so it would be a good start to possibly cut it down to maybe 1 or two of these holders… it’s probably for the best, I hardly ever wear any of it! I have a tiger on my bed… I have a fake tiger on my bed, which means I sort of need the odd pillow to counteract it’s weirdness and size, so I found this cover (also from H&M) which adds for a bit of texture.

FEATURED ITEMS: Overdyed Rug (Urban Outfitters) // Screw Perfection Poster (Society6) // Frida Khalo Poster (Urban Outfitters) // Do It For Fashion Poster (Society6) // Bison Skull Hook (Urban Outfitters) // Frilly Pillow (H&M) // Cactus Jewellery Dish (H&M)

What are you decor wants right now? Are you thinking of re-vamping your room? Let me know in the comments below 🙂

DIY Ripped & Dipped Jeans | Dylon Dyes*

By March 13, 2015 DIY & Lifestyle

I think you are all excited for this post. A while back you guys were like ‘Please do some DIYs’ in my reader survey and I listened (like I actually kinda’ felt bad for not posting any), so here we are! DIY numero uno of many more to come! The peeps over at Dylon Dyes challenged me to get ma’ dye on, so I had a think and came up with a pretty darn simple but pretty darn awesome looking, do-it-yourself. I’m talking DIY ripped jeans and dip dye…

DIY Ripped Jeans - Dip Dye Tutorial - Dylon Dyes

DIY Ripped Jeans - Dip Dye Tutorial - Dylon Dyes~ THE LOWDOWN ~

First up, what do I mean by ripped and dipped? Well my friend, I’ve combined 2 pretty cool trends and made them into my own thing; ripped jeans with a dip dye effect. As soon as I saw these jeans (£3.50 in the ASOS sale), I knew that I could do something to spruce them up and that involved, well, essentially destroying them. I didn’t really know whether the ripped knee trend was my kind of thing but now that I’ve done it, I’m obsessed! It just adds that edgy touch to a simple outfit, don’t you think?

The dye idea of course came in when Dylon got in touch and the navy colour really poked at me. It’s not a super bold colour but because I incorporate a lot of blue into my wardrobe, it just seemed to work really well. So you wanna’ make your own pair, huh?

DIY Ripped Jeans - Dip Dye Tutorial - Dylon Dyes

WHAT YOU’LL NEED: White Jeans (ASOS) // Pencil // Scissors // Serrated Knife // Tweezers

To Rip…

To rip your jeans, I would highly advise watching The Line Up’s DIY video because it is fab and super clear! But just so you can see it in writing, you will need to do the following… put on your jeans and with a pencil, draw a light line across your knees (this is where you will cut). Take off your jeans and lay them out on a flat surface. Get your scissors and make an incision across the lines you drew (be careful not to cut through to the back!). Be careful not to make them the cuts too big as they will naturally stretch out.

Next, grab your serrated knife and start to brush over the rough edges that you have made. The edges will start to fray, which is a good start! Then start pulling at small threads with the tweezers, and create the ripped effect you want. Carry on until complete on both cuts! Add smaller cuts on the back of your jeans or anywhere else if you want 🙂

DIY Ripped Jeans - Dip Dye Tutorial - Dylon Dyes

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:  1 Sachet of Dye (Dylon)* // Weighing Scales // 250g of Salt // 6L of Water // Bucket/Metal Sink // Large Spoon // Protective Gloves

To Dye…

I’d recommend reading the sachet instructions first but really, all you need to do is fill up a bucket/sink with 6 litres of hot water (40°c) and pour in 250g of ordinary salt. Next up, you should mix the salt into the water so it’s nicely dissolved and then add the sachet of dye. Mix up the dye and salt and get ready with your jeans! Make sure you’re using protective gloves when completing this project!

Get your jeans and slowly dunk one leg into the dye-filled water. Gradually dunk the one leg into the water until it reaches just below your ripped knees. Don’t go too much further unless you want the dye to seep over the rips. Squeeze and bunch the submerged fabric so that the dye really soaks in. Now, you will need to really carefully sink the other leg into the water, careful not to get even more of the other leg covered in dye. Repeat what you did on the first leg, just careful not to spread dye everywhere!

Set the top half of your jeans (the un-dyed part) to the side of your bucket/sink, making sure that it can’t accidentally slip into the water. Leave for 45 minutes and voila!

Scrap Social – My Scrapbook Essentials*

By March 10, 2015 Scrap Social

I’m so sorry to those of you who have been missing my Scrap Social series, I really do apologise for the delay! I was meant to have put an update up a while ago but time flew by… eek! Today I have a round-up of what I use to make my scrapbook pages (sorry if you were expecting a full page-by-page review!). I’ve almost finished up my book so I’ll make sure to note it down as a near future post… I promise! Anyway, here are some of my scrapbook essentials which everyone and anyone should have if they want to start their only little book of scribbles and inspiration…

Scrapbook Essentials - How To Make A Scrapbook~ THE BOOK ~

Literally. Any notebook will do! My notebook is a really random one I picked up from a shopping mall in France and cost me about 1 euro. It’s lined, but I don’t mind because I actually really like the way the lines look, sometimes I even incorporate the lines into what I’m doing with everything else. It has that sort of homemade, more scrappy vibe to it, in my opinion. You could go all fancy and get a great big huge (uhum, A4) size one if you like, but A5 is cool too.

Scrapbook Essentials - How To Make A Scrapbook~ THE BASICS ~

It may seem silly and pointless to mention these two simple items, but they are absolutely necessary to be able to do any form of scrapbook. Any pair of scissors will do (if you’re headed to IKEA, they do sets of 3 different sizes I believe) and any stick of glue will do too! You may also like to get fabric glue or other more high duty glues to stick down things like sequins, feathers and anything else like that. Simple but vital!

Scrapbook Essentials - How To Make A Scrapbook~ THE SOURCE ~

No, not the ketchup of the scrapbook world… the source. The items and places where you get all your pictures and content from. Depending on what style of scrapbook you are doing, depends on where you should look. If it’s a travel scrapbook then you might want to use your own images and things like tickets, but it really does vary from person to person. My scrapbook is an art inspiration/fashion design bible, full of things that catch my eye and inspire me. So I turn to magazines, postcards and Tumblr for all of my content. My Company magazine collection is running on empty (almost) so my other favourites which are still available to buy are Vogue & Glamour.

Scrapbook Essentials - How To Make A Scrapbook~ THE DECORATORS: POSCA PENS* & TED BAKER PENS* ~

I’m a big fan of using pens and pencils as a decoration to each page. My favourite method is using biro pen to add scribbles and random details to photographs and writing words that match the mood of what I’m portraying. I recently added these 3 super cute mini pens to my collection (they’re Ted Baker, pretty snazzy if I do say so myself) and I love them. They’re a tiny size so they fit just in the spine of my scrapbook and I can have 1 or 2 on the side for my blogging notebooks too.

I also recently added my other ‘decorator pens’ to my stationery collection and I’m obsessed! These are POSCA pens (from Fat Buddha) and they’re pretty darn awesome. They’re sort of like paint in pen form, brilliantly opaque and they leave no streak marks behind. I’m converted and I would totally recommend!

Changing With The Seasons #2 – February, Winter*

By March 6, 2015 Changing With The Seasons

I know, I know… it’s March and I’m only just putting up my CWTS #2 (meant for February)… I just blame February being shorter, I mean who knew 2 or 3 days less than usual could make such a big difference? I really do apologise though, I doubt any of you are really keeping track of the schedule, but oh well. It’s here now! Want to know how to dress for winter? Step right this way…

It’s definitely getting warmer, which I am SO excited about. I tweeted the other day saying that I literally love summer and spring so much. It’s just that feeling of stepping out the door and not having a freezing cold nose and not having to cover up your meticulously planned outfit with a coat. We’re nearly getting there and that means… COLOUR. I think this skirt (that you guys so amazingly voted for me to style) is a nice inbetween colour, because it matches the purple, but then it also sorta’ blends in those black tights that I’m still clinging on to.

I made this outfit a little bit more snazzy with texture too. I’ve been dying to try out the whole ‘scuba’ trend and I’m loving it. The structure to it makes everything look a bit more sleek and perhaps even a bit more expensive. I’ve had an odd relationship with Glamorous, but the more I wear their pieces, the more I fall in love. The other bit of texture is my faux fur gilet. It has been rather sad as you guys didn’t vote for it… but it made a cheeky appearance anyway!

I love my faux fur gilet, especially now as it matches my super adorable floral headband from Johnny Loves Rosie… but then again that’s rather sad too as it, keeps. on. braking! The stems of flowers just decide to pop off, so I perhaps wouldn’t suggest buying it, unless you just really like the look of it. Speaking of things we really like the look of… LOOK. AT. MY SHOES.

You have no idea how long I have wanted a proper (like proper, proper) pair of holographic shoes, and I finally have some. I do admit that they are slightly noisy (the buckles tend to squeak and rattle) and the zips are a little too stiff, but I can live with that… they’re amazing. I thank Boohoo for bringing them into my life… I will just point out here and now, that this year I’ll be working with Boohoo on a snazzy lil’ prom outfit… who’s excited for that?!

And finally, the video! I hope you enjoy the little video segment, because I do! It also kind of gives me an excuse to put something up on my YouTube channeleek, haha! I know each one is only short but it just gives you a little insight in to what the outfit actually looks like in ‘real life’? Let me know what you think and please do make sure to subscribe, it would make me very happy! Speak soon…
