Fast Food Fashion: A Side of Fries*

By May 13, 2015 My Style

If you were here on my blog fairly recently, then you’ll know that I have started a mini series of fast food fashion inspired outfits! Last year I did a post on a few of my fast food fashion purchases, so I’m finally styling them up! This is part 2, so make sure you catch up with part 1, here!

Fast Food Fashion Inspired OOTD - Adolescent Clothing FRYDAY T-Shirt

🍟 WHAT I WORE: Fryday T-Shirt (Adolescent Clothing)* // Fries Necklace (Chelsea Doll – Now closed)* // Tulle Skirts (Oxfam) // Shorts (Jumble Sale) // Fries Socks (Kylie @ M&Co)* // Leopard Slap-On Watch (Slappie)* // Jelly Shoes (Supermarket) 🍟

So this outfit is all about the fries… or chips, whatever you want to call it! I’m actually pretty happy with it too! It’s a lot more fun and colourful, don’t you think? Anyway, I knew immediately I needed this Adolescent Clothing t-shirt… it’s such a same this post wasn’t up on a Friday… I mean, FRYDAY? Duhh! 🍟

In my opinion tulle skirts go perfectly with oversized tops. They’re that little bit of something special that make your outfit look like you actually made an effort to get dressed. Plus, if you wear shorts underneath like me, then if you get fed up of them, you can whip them off and totally change your outfit! Yay!

In terms of accessorising and pulling the fast food outfit together, I went for my awesome fries necklace. I think because I never usually wear red, I tend to leave this one hanging up, but now I’ve styled it like this, I kinda’ like it! Unfortunately I’m not sure you guys can actually purchase this anywhere online… but you can take a good look at it now… haha! Sorry… 🍟

Can we also talk swings? I knew I had to do these pictures at the park, and believe it or not (I literally had no idea until I edited these pictures) but the swings actually had matching red and yellow. How awesome is that? Matchy matchy.

And finally shoes… and a watch! I went for my nifty pair of supermarket jelly shoes because why not? They’re honestly the cheapest, most durable and comfortable pair of shoes I own. I honestly don’t care that people look at me funny for wearing beach shoes because they just don’t understand the comfort! They also look great with 🍟 chip 🍟 socks, so I’m not complaining!

For my watch, I’m wearing my new Slappie watch. It is in fact a slap-on watch. It’s super comfortable, it looks adorable and it even has an interchangeable watch face function so you can suit your watch to your mood. Pretty cool! I really like it, and the monochrome print is so me. What do you think?

Customised DIY Iron-on Patch Jacket with Jennie Maizels*

By May 10, 2015 DIY & Lifestyle

A new DIY! Ooooh yeah! I know my DIYs have been fairly simple so far, but because my bank balance is that of a teen, it means that you may just have to deal with simple but super customisable DIYs for now. But, like I said, they’re super customisable. I discovered the awesomeness which is Jennie Maizels recently, so I wanted to share with you a little DIY on how to create an awesome jacket with her adorable iron-on patches. Let’s GO!

DIY Iron-on Patch Jacket & Dip Dye - Jennie Maizels - DYLON Dyes

WHAT YOU NEED: Iron-on Patches (Jennie Maizels)* // Jacket (Jumble Sale) // Tea Towel // Iron // Ironing Board

STEP 1:

Take your super adorable iron-on patches and decide what you want to do with them. I decided I wanted my name on the back, and a few extras on the front. I used a white jacket that I dip-dyed (more on that later) and I think it was a perfect canvas for the patches. The backs of jackets are a great place to start especially for names!

STEP 2 & 3:

The next thing you need to do is layout exactly where you want iron each patch. I re-did this after every patch I ironed down, so I knew exactly where things were going. After you’ve put down your first patch, cover it with a cloth (a tea towel works great) and follow these instructions…

Constantly wiggle your iron on top of the tea towel and patch for 20-30 seconds; then repeat on the reverse side too! You can also remove the tea towel and apply direct heat if it needs a little bit of help.

STEP 4:

Repeat the same process anywhere else on the jacket. I chose to go with a “LOVE” patch above a faux-pocket and 2 kitsch flamingos on the collars (I love them).

VOILA!

Your super cute and customisable jacket is finished! I love the outcome and the patches were super easy to use. I really do think Jennie Maizel’s patches are the best in terms of design. I can’t find any letters like hers… SO COOL! Now let’s style it up…

I absolutely love the outcome! I never really used to wear this jacket, but now not only have I discovered it works great as a fitted “jacket top”, I am also in love with my customised tweaks. It’s totally me and could be styled in so many ways. I love how it looks with my new denim skirt (£1 from a jumble sale, uh thank you very much!) too. Ahh I love it! Do you love it too? Let me know in the comments!

Guest Scrap Social: Jacky Auerbach

By May 7, 2015 Scrap Social

It’s been a long while since I got someone else to share their scrapbook with you, so today’s the day where I do that again for you 🙂 I’ve got another blogger, this time a fellow teen, who goes by the name of Jacky Auerbach from Do It For The Irony. Let’s take a peep in this Scrap Social post…

Guest Scrap Social - How To Make A Scrapbook - Do It For The Irony

Guest Scrap Social - How To Make A Scrapbook - Do It For The Irony

Why do you use a scrapbook? I started journalling when I was in high school.  It was a required art assignment from my art teacher but you didn’t have to go above and beyond with it.  Hers was SO amazing and it really pushed me to be creative every day.  I’d have days where I would just skip my schoolwork and journal after school.  It worked out!  So I continue it to always be creative.

What are your favourite methods? Anything messy.  My art mentor advised me that I needed to let go.  I was always so scared to make art on canvas because I felt like I would mess up and it’d be a waste of money.  So she’s just like let go.  Go crazy.  So I did.  Finger painting, layers, glue, fabrics, sketches and text everywhere.

You use quite a lot of paint and texture in your pages, why is this? I don’t like subject matter.  I don’t like to paint or make “things”.  Along with letting go of my art fears, I gained my love for messy things.  So I found beauty in texture and more importantly color.  Thus my love for color + color theory.  If you see my comments on fashion blogs, I almost always comment on color.  I’m not trying to be repetitive I really just care about color the most!  It shows emotion, which I care about a lot.

Has your scrapbook inspired you for any ideas/projects (or are you going to start one because of it)? I’m going to start a new altered book soon!  Basically journalling in a book.  Some say it’s a waste but it’s very beautiful.  I’m very excited because it will be my first art book without a mentor.  Scary, but hey letting go is always good in art.  I don’t like people telling me to up my technique or to get better at painting realistic faces.  I want to do my thing.

Guest Scrap Social - How To Make A Scrapbook - Do It For The Irony

Guest Scrap Social - How To Make A Scrapbook - Do It For The Irony

This is my favourite page (the one with CUTE on), which is your favourite out of this selection? Definitely the green spread with a tie dyed silk on the other.  The text says, “I’m pressured by time Maybe I would have noticed it pass if the seasons had changed for once.”  I speak in metaphors and it irritates people.  But I was obsessed with time during this journal.  I love the aging person I quick painted on the other side.  I remember being so happy because I made it out of three messy globs of paint on the paper.

Do you think each page represents a period in your life, or the mood you are in? Both.  I was in a time of huge change and so many things about myself were rapidly different, I didn’t know how to deal with it!  Thus my expression of time.  And as for my mood, I always consider my subject matter to be emotion.  If it shows my emotion the way I want, then it’s a success.  I believe that’s my niche.

When and where do you create your wonderful collages? At home, in my room with any material I can find.  Even makeup.  Wherever I can find a ton of glue I’m there.

Do you think your scrapbook is a representation of your personality? For sure.  Emotional and metaphoric on the inside.  Mysterious and speaks weirdly.  But despite all the deep and enigmatic stuff, I’m super loud and bold and messy and colorful.

Pen or Pencil? Pen.  I can make mistakes and I can’t erase them.

Glitter or Puffy Paint? GLITTER.  Anytime I get my hands on cheap craft glitter, it’s a total mess.

Neat or Messy? Messy messy messy.  No planning.  Go for it.

You’ve bought a new magazine which would be perfect for scrapbooking… do you chop it up straight away after reading, or wait a little while until it’s considered ‘old’? Wait a little for sure.  I am weird about resources.  I hate shopping for art supplies and I hate using them up.  I hate spending money and the fear of wasting it.  I rarely buy magazines but when I do, they sit for a while.  I most of the time pick up the hidden free catalogs at H&M and use those!  Saves money and they’re great quality.

What To Do When A Blog Post Goes Wrong

By May 4, 2015 General

I thought it would be a good time to write up a new blogging advice post! It’s been a nice gap since the last one (which you can read here), so here we are again! This post is about dealing with something I personally deal with quite a bit and that is when a blog post goes wrong, or at least when it doesn’t go according to plan. It’s a really irritating situation so I thought it would be good to help out those of you who also suffer with the same thing. Let’s do this!

when a blog post goes wrong - blogging advice tips and tricks

Don’t get in a fluster…

One of the biggest things I struggle with in this situation is getting stressed. When I have a perfect vision of how a blog post should be, I can get quite irritated with myself (and other people…) when it doesn’t go to plan. The best thing to do is to step back and think. Take yourself out of the situation and re-evaluate what you’re doing! This leads me onto the next step…

Put yourself in a different mindset…

Just like I said above, you need to think. Stop and think about how you could do things differently. Let’s say you’re taking outfit pictures; Is it the background that looks odd? Do you need to add an extra accessory to balance everything out? Do you simply need to tweak some settings on your camera?

Simple thoughts like this can help you decide whether the blog post has really gone wrong. Most of the time it’s just one small detail that’s out of place, so just ask yourself a few of those sorts of questions.

when a blog post goes wrong - blogging advice tips and tricks

Change what you’re trying to achieve…

It might sound weird but the main problem may just be what you’re trying to achieve. Let’s say this time that you’re taking pictures of your favourite shoes and you might be wearing them on your feet in the pictures, and it just isn’t working; Why not include them in outfit grids instead? Pop them on a plain floor and do different outfits! Or maybe try and achieve a cool, abstract photoshoot by putting them on your hands and editing the way it’s put together.

It sounds weird but just changing the main look and feel of a post can totally shift how you’re feeling about it. It might not be the way you had imagined it to work out, but it might just be the way that works out best.

If nothing seems to be going right, don’t waste what you’ve already done…

I know the temptation of wanting to delete all of the pictures and throw away all of the notes you had already drafted up, but don’t! When it all seems to be going wrong, what you’ve done so far might be perfect for something else. Let’s take this blog post for example! You see these pictures I’ve used? Well, I didn’t get enough of them to make them into a full outfit post (you can see that heredifferent location!) but I kept the ones I had, and now they’re here!

Don’t waste good work, even if it doesn’t seem good enough in the moment. Keep those ideas, pictures and notes close by, to transform them into something else that is completely different altogether.

when a blog post goes wrong - blogging advice tips and tricks

If you’re feeling under pressure, STOP!

Last but not least, if you really can’t help but get flustered, stop. It might just be that you’re rushing the idea, or it just wasn’t meant to be! Recently I was planning a blog post and because I was working with brands on it, I really got myself stressed over it not turning out perfect, so I ended up turning it into something I can manage; I took it from one great big post and chopped it up into a series (*cough* I mean my Fast Food Fashion outfit *cough*).

I really hoped this helped some of you! If it did, please make sure to leave a comment below! They’re now non-Disqus so you can leave one whenever and whoever you are! I’d love to know what you thought of these tips.

A-Z Fashion Guide: Carnaby Street

By May 2, 2015 A-Z Fashion

I know this series was meant to be over a long time ago, but it’s one of those posts I’m not sure whether you love or loathe…?! Please do let me know in the (now non Disqus) comments section! I’ve decided to turn of Disqus for a while to see how things go…. let me know what you prefer! Anyway, let’s get on with this A-Z Fashion Guide post all about Carnaby Street!

Carnaby Street - Best Shops in London - A-Z Fashion Guide

(Images via Pinterest. All sources here.)

Carnaby Street is most commonly known for being a Soho shopping street in London. The reason it’s important to the fashion industry is because of how popular it was in the 1960s. After jazz clubs opening up, people started to gather on Carnaby Street and it soon became the social hub for the swinging sixties. The first boutique to open up was “His Clothes” by John Stephen, which was followed quickly by designers like Mary Quant.

Carnaby Street soon became the place to be in London. Bands like the Rolling Stones started to appear in the area, and with music being such a huge influence on fashion… well, you can see why it’s such an important part of this A-Z Fashion Guide. Even the song “Dedicated Follower of Fashion” by The Kinks, has links to the famous shopping streets.

If you want to know where mod fashion came from, then you’re in the right place! Carnaby Street was one of the main influences for that too. Apparently young “mods” would say they would go without food to buy more fashionable clothes of the time. In the video above you can spot out some of the awesome trends from back then; shift dresses, turtle necks, bold and colourful prints, fitted suits for the men, and short skirts for the women…

I’ve created another map for you to explore Carnaby Street. If you’re wanting some new shoes, I’d definitely take a peep as there seems to be a lot of shops offering the latest styles for your toes! My favourite has to be Dr. Martens so definitely pop in if you have the chance. Make sure you let me know your favourite Carnaby Street shops in the comments below!

Fast Food Fashion: The Main Course*

By April 27, 2015 My Style

If you remember last year, I did a blog post all about budget fast food fashion. If you’re not sure what that is exactly then take a look at Moschino AW14′. It’s the collection that started it all off, and ever since so many brands have been taking inspiration. Now, I don’t want to promote unhealthy eating here, but I’ve decided to take that post a step further and make it into a mini series of outfits inspired by each part of the meal; the main, side, drink and dessert. So, as you can probably tell from the title of this post, today is all about the main course… aka. BURGERS! 🍔

🍔 WHAT I WORE: Stripey Top (Johnnie B @ Boden)* // Dungarees (Jumble Sale) // Burger Socks (Kylie @ M&Co)* // Burger Necklace (ASOS)* // Fast Food Badges (Claire’s) // White Dioon Vagabonds (Mastershoe)* 🍔

When I think red, yellow and green, I also think, blue and white, so I knew immediately that I had to pair all of these different colours together in this exact way. Instead of wearing Moschino rip-offs from eBay, I decided to think about the kind of Parisian girl who hangs out at chic diners and eats burgers with pastel pink milkshake in hand… well almost. I’m not sure McDonalds 🍔 really counts as ‘chic’ but you get the gist.

This Johnnie B top is one of those ‘throw it on and it will look perfect’ tops! Plus, if you’re not wearing dungarees to cover it up, the hem has a beautiful bit of lace detailing to add to the cuteness of it. If you don’t own a stripey top, please go out and get one. They should be a staple of everyone’s wardrobe (…okay if you don’t like stripes, I’ll let you off but they honestly look amazing on anyone)!

This might be weird to say but I actually feel like the simplicity sums up the whole 🍔 “fast food fashion” 🍔 idea; it’s a very simple concept and works will in terms of style and marketing. It shows how all parts of life can influence art and fashion itself. It’s simple, “quirky” and all kinds of awesome. What are your thoughts on the idea?

Also, let’s talks denim. I’m obsessed with it right now. I never used to be so in love with it but again it’s just simple. It has that look of something different; colour but with a touch of texture. But even then it can be turned into texture with a bit of ripping and fraying. It’s a magical fabric and I want to embrace it some more!

The main part of this outfit being fast food inspired is the accessories. These socks were in the original blog post and they worked really well here. I was worried that this necklace from ASOS 🍔 would clash with the colours, but it worked with a bit of help from some fast food badges (I mean, who can resist a 5 items for £3 deal at Claire’s? They came to sixty pence!). Oh and of course that Happy Meal… which unfortunately is now in my stomach. I mean, the gherkin’s healthy right? 😛

The Importance of Second Hand Shopping for Fashion Revolution Day 2015

By April 23, 2015 Ethical

Tomorrow (24th April 2015) is Fashion Revolution Day! If you’re not sure what that is, well I’m here to explain. Fashion Revolution is a campaign to raise awareness of the true cost of fashion, show the world that change is possible, and celebrate all those involved in creating a more sustainable future. I’m quite passionate about the whole thing and I believe you should be too. There’s quite a good explanation over on Huffington Post too!

~ SUBSCRIBE ON YOUTUBE ~

As part of Fashion Revolution Day this year, they’re trying to get as many bloggers, writers, YouTubers and influencers to share a “#Haulternative” video or blog post. The idea is to inspire as many people as possible to get back into the charity shops, raid through jumble sales, purchase vintage gems and think more about expensive, quality, investment buys than huge hauls of cheap and cheerful items.  I think it’s such a great idea and it shouldn’t just be aimed at bloggers either; YOU should get involved too.

You can watch my #Haulternative video above. I’ve picked out a few of my favourite second hand items. Some of them were seriously cheap and look seriously cool among most of my wardrobe. If you are inspired by this video and blog post, make sure to let me know in the comments! I’d love to know what you purchase…

fashion revolution day - second hand shopping

I didn’t want to just talk about some of my favourite pieces though, I wanted to talk about why second hand shopping is actually really important. In my opinion so many people shy away from charity shops and jumble sales because I suppose the idea is a little bit odd. You’re wearing something that a stranger has already worn before. I get it. It is kinda’ weird, but when you think about the positives of buying second hand, you’ll probably want to go shopping straight away…

fashion revolution day - second hand shopping

You’re helping the environment…

Clothes that you pick up from the charity shops and vintage stalls have been worn before, and they’re there to be worn again. It’s fashion’s way of recycling. This stops clothes from being chucked into the landfill sites and being completely wasted. A perfectly usable pair of jeans could be sat there in your local Oxfam waiting to be worn again! If you remember that you’re helping the planet and reducing waste when you purchase, then you should be able to forget that someone else has worn the same jeans.

Second hand clothes come with a purse-friendly price tag…

Unless you’re shopping at a top end vintage designer store, most second hand items will be cheap as chips. You can watch my video just to see a few of the bargains which I have picked up. I mean, who can resist £1 KENZO shorts?! The more expensive charity shops tend to be those with higher quality, more interesting pieces but even then you probably won’t be spending more than £25, which in my opinion is still a bargain. So if you’re on a budget, get down to your town’s weekly car-boot sale and find something for less!

Purchasing items at charity shops and jumble sales doesn’t just help your wardrobe…

It’s in the name, “charity” shops! When you buy, you support a good cause. I’ve listed below just some of the places your money goes at popular charity shops across the UK…

…but don’t just think only charity shops help! Things like car-boot sales and jumble sales help your community! Even on eBay, you help somebody out by putting a few coins back into their purse 🙂

Most pieces are as good as new…

As I mentioned above, a pair of perfectly usable jeans might be out there waiting for you, but not just jeans! I’ve found so many pieces (like the ones in my video) that are in perfect condition and look as good as new. So you don’t have to worry about anyone thinking you shop second hand… and if you do feel worried, or anyone does mention it, direct them to this blog post and explain why it’s much better to be wearing someone else’s clothes than something brand spanking new!

Ask the brands you wear #WhoMadeMyClothes Share your #Haulternative

Those are only a few of the amazing positives of shopping second hand. I hope it has inspired you in some way! I definitely want to start buying more second hand pieces, because you really can find some brilliant pieces in your price range. And, if you do, make sure you not only share your #Haulternative shopping spree, but make sure you tweet the brand that is on the label with #WhoMadeMyClothes to see where it came from! Now go and get spreading the word!

Changing With The Seasons #3 – April, Spring*

By April 19, 2015 Changing With The Seasons

This blog post was featured on i-D Magazine!

It’s that time again! Spring has sprung so I’m here with another Changing With The Seasons outfit post! If you’re new here then you won’t know that you guys voted for a piece of clothing for me to style across 8 months of the year. You chose a navy skater skirt this time around! I’m gonna’ show you how to dress for spring in this post, and I have a feeling you’re going to ‘heart eye emoji like this’.

WHAT I WORE: Emoji Print Top (Primark) // Cherry Playsuit (Primark) // Skater Skirt (H&M) // Leopard Converse (Footlocker) // Emoji Pins (Emoji Shop UK)*

OK, so I know this outfit isn’t extraordinary and is pretty darn casual but I basically just threw it on. Surprisingly enough I’m finding this whole “Changing With The Seasons” thing quite challenging which I quite like, so I guess there will be those outfits which are just a bit… ‘hmmmm?’…if you get what I mean! It’s still fun though right, even if it isn’t anything too special?

Instead of just going for the normal skirt and top combo, I added my Primark cherry print playsuit for an added layer and a print clash. I think the neckline of the playsuit compliments the shape of the top and even the prints seem to work hand in hand! I mean, who wouldn’t buy an emoji top? Who wouldn’t!

how to dress of spring ootd fashion blog emoji shop ukI think this outfit is missing something to really pull it together. Perhaps a jacket or a bag…? What do you think? I think perhaps if the skirt were a little longer it would have worked a bit better, but I’m okay with that! It’s definitely not missing emojis though! What is your favourite emoji? I’d say mine is the dancing lady; so sassy!

Speaking of emojis, I discovered the awesome Emoji Shop UK the other day and they were awesome and sent me a few pins to trial out. They’re awesome. I can now officially express my ’emoji mood’ with everyone at any time.

how to dress of spring ootd fashion blog emoji shop ukWhat a perfect time to make use of the shoe emoji! I really thought I’d grown out of my Converse but when I slipped them on for this blog post, they fit?! My feet are weird, but they look pretty cool in yellow leopard print. These are super comfy (as are all Converse) and add that splash of colour and touch of skater style to what I’m wearing. I like them a lot and I must start wearing them more!

~ SUBSCRIBE ON YOUTUBE ~

Here’s the video for you! I know this is weird to say but I actually kinda’ pushed myself to put this post up. I was in a bit of a rush so I basically threw the outfit on, didn’t realise that my hair was in a frizzy mess and that one of my sleeves wasn’t rolled up properly. My sister said to me “Be the change you want to see” (I want to see people being themselves, because what else is more perfect?!) and she’s right.

This is a little message from me to you, to just be yourself. I didn’t feel great in putting this post up but, this is me. This is me on the day when I’m a bit rushed for time because a thunder storm is coming, so I just threw on something that looked kinda’ colourful. So don’t hold back even if you don’t think you’re perfect. Be you 🙂 😛 😀

DIY Snap On Bracelets | Florals & Pom Poms

By April 15, 2015 DIY & Lifestyle

WOW. Today has been one of those days! I was a right wally and decided to make a video for YouTube (for this DIY post) using files on another computer (via the ‘Network’) and I think the WiFi disconnected so I lost all of what I had done. I feel terrible. For some reason me and YouTube just don’t seem to work. I might try and put it together again, so make sure you subscribe just in case but I didn’t have time tonight so it’s just the blog post for you! So sorry, but I hope you enjoy seeing the end result anyway, it was a super fun DIY to make! 😛

snap on bracelets how to tutorial baker ross

snap on bracelets how to tutorial baker rossThis idea originally came from when I was younger and used to catch the bus home from school in the dark… okay, that sounds weird, but my mum used to make me wear these reflective snap on bracelets around my wrists so I was clearly visible, so I was thinking… why don’t I make some funky ones? I scoured the internet for the perfect bracelets and landed upon these pre-covered slap on bracelets from Baker Ross and started work immediately!

It still sounds weird, right? Well they’re actually kinda’ cool. You slap them on which makes them 10x more fun to wear, but they’re super comfortable as well. They fit to most wrist sizes and you can make them into whatever you like. It’s simple, but if you wanted to take it a step further you could cover it with your own fabric, embroidery… whatever you fancy!

WHAT I WORE: Super Crop Top (ASOS) // Jeans (ASOS) // DIY Snap On Bracelets

WHAT YOU’LL NEED: Snap On Bracelets (Baker Ross) // Felt Floral Stickers (Baker Ross) // Glitter Pom Poms (Baker Ross) // Hot Glue Gun (Amazon) // Hi Tack Glue (Hobby Craft)

So instead of my YouTube video, I guess I’ll give you a step by step on here! I say step by step, but it’s fairly simple. All you need to do is glue down whatever you’re using to decorate your bracelets, making sure that you’re gluing it to the visible side (otherwise it won’t slap down properly). I used my trusty hot glue gun to secure everything into place afterwards.

For things like pom poms, slap your bracelet on your wrist and make a small mark at the point before your bracelet starts to wrap onto itself. You mustn’t glue anything past this mark otherwise it won’t lay flat. Does that make sense?!

I am honestly so sorry that there was no video with this! I feel so bad about it. I hope you got the jist of it anyway! I will promise to do more DIYs soon, it’s actually surprisingly difficult to document what you do as you go along, so I’ll try my best! I hope you have a lovely rest of your evening and don’t forget to let me know if you give this a try!

Scrap Social #4 – Lots of Experimental Pages & Patterns

By April 13, 2015 Scrap Social

Ahh, it feels good to sit down and update you on my scrapbook! I’m sorry it’s been a while but my blog has been pretty busy these past few weeks so I haven’t had much wiggle room in my schedule. Those few weeks have meant a bit more scrap-booking and actually finishing off the whole book! I have a new one waiting to be filled but for now, I’ll carry on updating you page by page 🙂 Hopefully this will give you some scrapbook ideas on making your very own collection of pages…

scrapbook ideas fashion journal how to make a scrapbookAs you can see from the title the pages in this update are really just a bundle of experimental pages. I didn’t have a set theme, and because I usually scrapbook on different days the moods are all completely different. I suppose those top two pages match with the brand names and advertisement imagery. I always find KENZO is a great source of inspiration when cutting out from magazines… everything they put out is always so bold and interesting!

I remember making that ‘Me, Me, Me’ page really well; I believe I wanted to express what beauty is all about… but perhaps not beauty, more vanity really. It’s an expression of today’s society and how we’re all obsessed with being this specific version of ourselves. I’m very passionate about avoiding that so I think it makes sense!

scrapbook ideas fashion journal how to make a scrapbookI’m super happy with these two pages. The first came out with a super cool 3D effect when I started colouring in certain dots in the mesh. Simple details like this can really make a page stand out and can inspire you for things like fabrics and patterns. I’m a strong believer of the little details so that’s a good example!

I loved the colour palette of the opposite page too. I think grey is such a nice colour to compliment grey so this pretty much sums up my love for the combination. Plus, if you throw a bit of Chanel in there too, it’s going to look good, am I right?!

scrapbook ideas fashion journal how to make a scrapbookWoah there! That’s a bit of a jumble isn’t it? Crossword squares, blue and monochrome patterns, neon lights and abstract hand prints. I told you I’ve been experimenting! Like I said above, creating simple pages can really inspire you for things like patterns and I think all of these pages do just that. Just a simple idea can become a big idea in the end, so don’t worry if a page is slightly random or weird… it might just be something awesome!

I just want to mention a bit more about those neon lights. Those are from God’s Own Junkyard and I’m obsessed. Sadly the artist and collector (Chris Bracey) has passed away, but he’s left behind such a treasure trove that one day I’d be honoured to go and have a peep at. It was a great excuse to try out my ‘puffy paints’!

scrapbook ideas fashion journal how to make a scrapbookMy pages really do differ… like these pages are just so random! I would say this camera/paparazzi page is another page with an actual meaning behind it. As you can see I’ve covered up screens and written words about privacy on top. I think with the online world our privacy is becoming less and less so I thought the picture was a great way to sum it all up, especially with celebrities.

What do you think of these pages? Check out my last update here and share your scrapbook pictures with #ScrapSocial 🙂
