As you will know if you read my end of the year blog posts, I recently finished up one of my scrapbooks which I’d been sharing in my #ScrapSocial series so it’s about time we got the show on the road with another one! I have a new fresh book ready and waiting to be filled (it’s a square check/lined one this time around) and I’m very excited to start on another set of blog posts for you! If you haven’t caught up on my previous book, take a look here.
I wasn’t really sure where I was going when I first started my new scrapbook, but I’m glad it worked out in the end. As you’ll know, my favourite medium is probably the good ol’ fashioned magazine. Not only are they filled with endless creative possibilities, they’re also left their waiting to be recycled into something more awesome and unique, so of course that’s how I started off my first page.
I used an old CHANEL advertorial page which was fairly plain, but it was easy to customise just by adding a few tweaks here and there. Just simple changes like cutting out screens from gadgets and windows, can change the concept completely. I scribbled in a quick lyric from an Arcade Fire song (I was listening to Soft Power at the time) and finished it off with my all new favourite thing; white pen.
You may have seen me use a very similar digital version of this technique in my cave inspired design post, but I finally got my hands on a white POSCA pen and I couldn’t be more in love. I 100% recommend experimenting with those pens… they’re awesome!

Along the same vein as magazines… catalogues and lookbooks make for great scrapbook inserts, and Boden is a great one to look at. Mama Posh has collected quite the Boden catalogue collection so I’m plenty filled up in that department and I’m so glad! Not only is the paper nice and matte (matte paper is a scrapbooking life saver – no air bubbles when sticking!), the aesthetics are always really lovely and change in each edition.
Also on these pages, I decided to try out some of the collaging material from Rookie. Each month they post a selection of drawings and doodles, photographs and backgrounds for you to cut-out and put together, and I think it’s a really cool idea. So the flowers you see here (and a couple of other items in the below pages) are all from the January collage kit.

Once again my trusty white POSCA pen makes an appearance in these pages! I’m so happy with the outcome of the left-hand page… I’m not really sure what I was going for but I just love how it looks. I’ve mentioned this before in my #ScrapSocial series and I’ll say it again; sometimes scrapbooking doesn’t need to make literal sense… sometimes it’s just best to put things together and work out what looks good to the eye. Trust me, your pages will flow a lot better if you think this way.
The right-hand page is once again just some snippets from a Boden catalogue which I thought were pretty funky and a couple of the colours matched from the left-hand page. Can I also just quickly mention how I love the square paper in this book? I didn’t think I would but there’s something about it that I love. Hmm…
Do you like my new pages? What have you been scrapbooking recently? Let me know in the comments! Don’t forget to tweet a picture with #ScrapSocial so we can all scrapbook together!
