New Years Eve Outfit Ideas

By December 22, 2013 Fashion

Hidehidehidehi! (Brownie points to anyone who knows which song that’s from) I have been really bad on the whole ‘real blogging’ kind of thing, with outfit ideas, celebrity style etc, because you guys loved it when I did them, so I’m back with a post for you! I’ve put together a few New Years Eve outfit ideas just in case you need some inspiration! Hope you like it… Just to point out that this will be the last blog post before Christmas Day! I will be back though, but just enjoy this one for now! Don’t forget though, I have a GIVE-AWAY going on to WIN a gorgeous necklace from Punky Pins! Enter it now!

New Years Eve Outfit Ideas cocktail dresses asos clutch new look topshop barely there heels

Crocus Dress £68.00 (Topshop), Orange Barely There Heels £45.00 (River Island), Distressed Metallic Clutch £28.00 (ASOS), Lucky Coin Earrings £9.00 (ASOS Sale), Teal Strappy Dress £14.99 (New Look), Teal Ankle Strap Heels £19.99 (New Look), Chained Layer Cuff £9.26 (Nasty Gal) & Flower Chain Headband £8.00 (ASOS)

Cocktail ‘Part-ay’ – This is probably my favourite selection out of the three because they are all so simple, yet they all dip into the ‘elegant’ and ‘statement’ sides of the pool (ooh, nice phrase there 😉 ). I love the Topshop dress because it looks like you are wearing a two piece but…. you’re not (surprise!)! I also love how the ASOS clutch is distressed, I think it makes it look a little bit more expensive, and a bit more ‘edgy’ (I have really gone off that word… eugh). The other dress is a slightly more simple and cheaper option, but it is still as nice as the other in my opinion, the style is also really flattering and ‘great’ for all seasons. Plus, matching heels in the exact same colour? #winnerwinnerchickendinner (#longesthashtagever #ishouldprobablystopnow #yah)

New Years Eve Outfit Ideas casual outfit boohoo happy new year jumper tartan crown and gloryHappy New Year Jumper £15.00 (Boohoo), Tartan Trousers £20.00 (Boohoo), Gunmetal Headband £35.00 (Crown & Glory), iPhone Case/Purse £15.00 (ASOS), Gem Fingerless Gloves £9.00 (ASOS), Black Cami £9.99 (New Look) & Silver Gemstone Necklace £7.99 (New Look)

Casual & Cosy – This is the sort of thing I will be wearing on New Year’s Eve. A little bit of sparkle, but casual and cosy (but, I’ll probably end up in my PJs…)! I love the jumper from Boohoo! They do a classic Home Alone one for Christmas, but this is so cool as it is perfect for New Year! I also really like the trousers, they look really comfy and simple and of course would be really good for any A/W occasion. After seeing one of my favourite bloggers (a.k.a Megan) wearing the gold version of the Crown & Glory headband, I now love it! It’s so sparkly and just… amazing! The necklace goes perfectly, and I must say, for under £10.00, that is pretty good? Although I love the cocktail dresses (previous image), this is what I would wear if I was going out on ‘NYE’.

New Years Eve Outfit Ideas sequin skirt fluffy jumper sequin jumpsuit party outfits asos Sequin & Mesh Skirt £125.00 (Topshop), Pink Fluffy Jumper £34.00 (Topshop), Buckle Boots £38.00 (ASOS), Triangle Necklace £6.00 (ASOS), Sequin Jumpsuit £59.99 (New Look), Felt Boater Hat £18.00 (ASOS), Snowflake Socks £4.00 (ASOS) & Snow Scene Socks £4.00 (ASOS)

Sequins & Sparkle – Ohhh. Myyyy. Just look at that skirt… take a moment to appreciate it… and then sob in sadness at the price… it’s so nice! I’m a big fan of fluffy jumpers over sequins because it looks so nice and the textures look perfect against each other. Paired with some buckled boots to make it more casual, and a dainty little necklace… ohhhh. Then, New Look have a blimming amazing jumpsuit, covered in sequins… for under £60.00, which quite frankly is amazing if that is the closest I can get to an Ashish one! I would wear it all day, every day and nobody would be able to stop me! I’ve always wanted a boater hat, and I think this ‘look’ would make it the cutest accessory. Oh, and don’t forget the novelty socks! 😉

Health In The Modelling Industry

By October 3, 2013 Fashion

Bonjourno young chums. I haven’t done an ‘opinionated’ post in a while have I? Well, I’m back with one, and this post is going to be full of one very strong opinion I have. I’m sorry if I come across rather angry…. but I am rather angry (you’ll see why)…

health in the modelling industry georgina wilkin

This morning I saw a tweet which linked to a Daily Mail article, I had no idea what it was, but I clicked. I scrolled down, reading every single word, and was horrified. The article was all about, now former model, Georgina Wilkin. Georgina was scouted on Oxford Street at just 15 (2 years older than me). When she was half way through her GCSEs, she was asked to model for a Japanese agent, but she was told that she had to lose 3 inch from her hips and 1 inch from her waist. Georgina was drawn in and she started to lose the weight, her diet consisted of salad, vegetables and sometimes days without food. Before she started modelling, she weighed 8st 6lb, which shows that she was ‘slim’. I can relate to this because I am ‘slim’ and I have been told I am underweight before, but I was/and still am, perfectly healthy, and I am sure Georgina was too. Even though she was this weight, every 2 weeks she would be weighed and measured and told to lose more weight. Georgina said in the article… ”The skinnier girls, got all the bookings and I was even told I wouldn’t be able to work for jewellery companies because my fingers were too fat.” Georgina became thinner, weaker and started to get ill whilst she was in Tokyo. She was getting blue lips and hands because her heart was struggling. When she returned, she worked with brands including TopshopGAP, and Giles Deacon, where apparently, nobody ate. In 2007, she was diagnosed with Anorexia. (See the full article here.)

Now obviously, we can’t believe everything the Daily Mail says (and also you could say that it was her parents fault), because everything is made to attach to our heart strings, but I honestly do think that if you read the article, you will understand where I am coming from when I say that I am… disgusted. Totally, utterly disgusted. I’m not disgusted because it is the fashion industry, I am disgusted that the industry thinks it’s okay to let this carry on, for their own good. It’s not even mean, I personally think it’s pure ‘evil’. Imagine looking at a girl who is obviously ‘thin’ and going, ‘You’re too fat’ (well, maybe not those exact words, but you know what I mean!). It’s bonkers. DEE-SGUST-ING. Models becoming ill for brands to get more money? Sounds a bit cruel in my books.

Some people will say ‘Well just don’t model then’. The fashion industry, could not and will not survive with out models. I’m fine with models, I’m fine with that, just not the whole ‘If your not a size 8, you’re not good enough’ attitude. There needs to be change. I don’t think saying you have to be Size 8 or more, is the right way to do it, but I think there needs to be a more healthy way of looking at it. Thinking about health, and being HUMAN more than just creating a good picture to get money. We don’t want ill models, and we certainly don’t want young girls looking up to ill models, do we? No, I thought not. I’m going to have to say it, but the modelling agencies are almost… killing what they are doing in a way. They hire models, and tell them that they are too big. The models go away and lose more weight, come back and are ill, and in Georgina’s case, come even close to losing their own life, so the agency has to chose another girl (or boy), and it goes on and on. Disgusting.

What do you think? Do you think something needs to change? Let me know in the comments!

The White Pepper Summer Collection 2013

By July 23, 2013 Fashion

So, I don’t usually do ‘one brand’ focused posts, without it being a review, a wishlist etc, but today I am being very nice and doing one. The lovely people from The White Pepper sent me one of their summer magazines, and oh my. I have officially fallen in love. 0_0

the white pepper the white pepperEven from the cover, I think you can tell that The White Pepper is utterly gorgeous. I mean come on. Watermelon and white nail polish = perrrffff. Not only have they got the front cover covered – pahahaha – the inside is even more perrrffff. I love the fact they incorporate the trends with their own style, by using making everything very crisp and clean but adding quirky touches with fruits (pineapples for example). It sounds odd, but if you get your hands on this booklet of amazingness, then you will truly understand what I am trying to get at. I usually look at brands and think that they are the same as everyone else, but I think The White Pepper have something a little different, and I like it.

the white pepperThese above are a few scan in’s from the magazine. Just look at them. They all look like they could jump out the screen! I know that a lot of bloggers and people I speak to, LOVE The White Pepper, and I totally agree. If you are looking for your summer ball dress, but don’t want something to flashy, they have it. If you need something for work, they have it. If you just feel like treating yourself, you can. The prices are probably Topshop prices, so the higher end of the spectrum, but not so much that you will be penny-less (well, if you are me then you will be)! I now officially want these overalls, this mac, this twin set, also this blouse, and of course this skirtoh and maybe. I should probably stop now. Stop reading this now and just go and look for yourself. And I am very sorry if your bank account is empty by the time you re visit my blog… just so you know, I have warned you.

If you want to buy the 1st magazine you can just here! It’s FREE (excl. P&P)

(This is not a sponsored post. The White Pepper sent me the magazine but I did not have to review it. All views are a 100% honest.)

What To Expect from Topshop A/W 13

By February 15, 2013 Beauty, Fashion

So, I don’t really use Google+ too much, but I saw that Topshop do live chats on certain days, so I thought, well why not watch it! I am not sure how you can get involved, but I enjoyed watching anyway! The people who were chatting involved Tanya Burr, some other fashion-y people, and some of the heads of Topshop (Not literally heads, from Topshop, like Head Directors etc). So, I thought, well if you missed it, you’re going to want to know what happened. Right? All questions were asked and answered by the people on the chat, and I hope they don’t mind me using them! The questions aren’t written exactly, but they are along the same lines… (Images from Topshop Tumblr)

What To Expect from a ‘Unique’ Girl & Fashion Weeks…

A ‘Unique’ Girl, is a model of the Unique Range from Topshop, and one of the fashionistas (who were chatting) asked ”What sort of Hair & Make-Up should we expect on a Unique Girl?”, Topshop said ”You can expect them to be… Ravishing?! Very beautiful, and ravishing.” That was it. They pretty much skipped the answer and said one word! I would of expected more of ”Young, youthful, unique but strong and playful.”, sort of answer, but no. Ravishing, will just have to do! The second question was pointed towards one of the Topshop ‘peeps’ that had recently been to NYFW, ”What’s the difference between the New York Fashion Week and the London Fashion Week, in the models and the people watching.” Topshop said, ”New York is a lot more business driven, and a lot more put together, in the catwalk, and with the street style. But, in London, it’s more about emerging talent, and experimenting. There’s a bit more of a style of this and that in the people you see visiting the shows.” This, from what I have seen, I totally agreed on. When I look at the pictures from NY, I see the same style in each of the people who visit the shows, and then when you look at London, you see a variety. As they said ‘a bit of this and that’ in the people you see there.

Make-Up and The A/W 13′ Shows…

The final questions came from Tanya Burr (one of my favourite YouTubers). She asked ”What sort of Make-Up can we see on Sunday?” (Sunday is the Topshop show). Topshop replied, ”I can’t really say, because I don’t really know myself yet. After this we will be going to take a look. I have a faint idea of certain colours, but I don’t know. It’s very exciting because everything is so last minute. But, I think this year it will be a lot more experimental than last season.” I was quite surprised by this answer. I would expect that they would know what they were going to do. I know they all have busy lives, but surely they would have planned it in advance? Interesting…
Tanya then asked, What would be your all time favourite Make-Up product from Topshop?” and in reply, ”I have been working with a few recently, which will be released in the next couple of days. It would have to be the new Face Quad, which has a highlighter, and a blusher, and all the things that make it easy to sculpt your face. It would also have to be the Eye Quad as well. They are all quite metallic shades, and creamy. They’re very beautiful.” I think this was the fullest answer I was there to hear. I know they can’t say everything, but I was very unimpressed by the answers. I have never (cannot actually believe) ordered from Topshop, which means every little detail, changes my mind on whether I should one day. I love their stuff, and I can’t believe that I haven’t ever purchased anything, but things like them not answering questions properly, just irritate me. I actually had a little chuckle with my mum, on how uninspiring their answers were. It must be a fun company to work with, because it’s all very young and ‘Unique’, but I don’t think I got the right impression on this chat. I am definitely going to be watching the next one, and I will try and find out how to get involved, but I thought I would just leave you to think about how much you really love Topshop.

Did you watch the chat? Did you like it? Did you like this post Make sure to leave a comment below!

Spring Outfit 2: Topshop

By April 4, 2012 General

Here is another outfit from Topshop, just under £100. Quite pricey, but if you really want to look stylish out and about, look at this…

MOTO Tye Dye Jeans £45.00, Lips in Charmed £9.00, Peace Band Stack Rings £10.00, Spike & Square Bangles £10.00, MOTO Denim Zip Bralet £16.00, Mixed Charm Clip £8.50 TOTAL = £98.50

The 2 types of Denim (also a new trend) – the bralet and jeans – both have different styles, but if you add some accessories like these above, it will blend the 2 styles perfectly together. The lipstick colour makes a great statement but also keeps the colour of the Jeans.
