15 Pins On Pinterest That I’m Loving

By May 23, 2015 Fashion

Recently I’ve really started to love Pinterest. It’s like a nicer, less stressful version of Tumblr. You can still find those grungey pictures that inspire you on a dark Friday night, but you can also find pastel doughnuts and lots and lots of tulle. It’s a winner for everyone! I decided to pick out a few gems that I’ve pinned recently in this “pins on Pinterest” post! Enjoy…

15 Pins On Pinterest - Fashion Inspiration Board

~ FOLLOW ME ON PINTEREST – ALL IMAGES PINNED HERE ~

1 – 3: Luxurious textures…

I’ve been loving textures that express all things luxurious recently. From organzas to satins, silks and marbles, I’m just in love! I’m actually going to be buying some organza for a DIY soon *cough* you can probably see what it’s for here *cough*…

4 – 6: Complimenting colours…

These three images really compliment each other but they also offer a lot of inspiration for either beauty, drinks or fashion. Plus, who doesn’t love a bit of Susie Bubble? She’s my style inspiration 24/7.

7 – 9: Deep and dark…

Getting slightly more grungey here but still pretty darn cute, I picked out this awesome pair of DMs with flowers through the laces and this poem that was created with a typewriter and receipt. Some really unique ideas!

10 – 12: Pinks…

I feel like I’ve been loving pink recently even if I don’t necessarily wear it a lot in real life. It’s just a nice colour and I love seeing it in different forms rather than just the normal girly-girl styles.

13 – 15: Shimmer and splash…

I will forever be a lover of sparkles. I also love stickers and the seaside so I suppose these 3 images portray a few of my loves. Now that I think about it, I’d love to do something with stickers… hmmm!

15 People Who Inspire Me To Be Myself

By May 21, 2015 DIY & Lifestyle

If you didn’t see on my social media, then you won’t know that this week I’m going to do a few posts which are lists of 15, to of course, celebrate my birthday! Woop! So, I thought I would write up a list of people who inspire me. I know the title suggests that they inspire me to be me, but alongside that, some of these awesome people inspire me to be creative too. I seemed to get asked the question of who inspires me a lot, so here’s a full list! In no particular order…

15 People Who Inspire Me - Paul Smith Valentino ASHISH(via Instagram)

1. Helena Lester-Card – Blogger & Vintage Seller – Sassy World

Helena is a fashion blogger who just rocks. her. stuff! As well as running an absolutely killer vintage fashion shop (Sassy World), she also has her own personal style blog which is the most colourful thing I have ever seen. She inspires me to be myself whatever the weather!

2. Everyone in The Confetti Crowd – Bloggers

I’m sort of cheating here but Helena is also in “The Confetti Crowd” which is a group of 5 kick-ass fashion bloggers with the most crazy and eclectic styles. I’m obsessed with their stuff and they have an awesome message to spread!

 3. Paul Smith – Fashion Designer

Okay, so quite a big one here, but Paul Smith has always intrigued me. I find how he puts so much detail and intricacy into everything he does very inspiring. I think he shows us all that even when success hits, you don’t have to lose yourself in it all!

4. Laura Whalebone – Blogger – That’s So Yesterday

Laura is another fashion blogger (and mum) who’s style has yet to fade, and I’d hope it never does! Every outfit she posts inspires me to never stop being myself, which is rather simple but it’s also really awesome. Laura breaks all the “rules” and I love that!

5. Everyone on Humans of New York – Facebook Page

This kinda’ sounds weird, but when I check in on Facebook and there’s an inspiring story or some uber cool person posing on my screen, I instantly feel inspired to just carry on being me and do what I love. If there is one Facebook page you should follow, please make it HONY!

6. Katie Oldham – Blogger – Scarphelia

Another blogger but I don’t care! Katie is one of those people who just always has something amazing about to come out of her… fingertips? She’s another person who can just post anything and make me feel inspired. She also follows me on Twitter and her support is unreal.

7. Zoe Hellewell – Blogger – Zoe London

Oh dear, another blogger… but I’m a blogger myself so I have to mention some right? You’ve probably all heard of Zoe and her bright blue hair! She’s down right awesome. She’s a blogger who works her socks off and deserves all the success she has. She inspires not only me but all of her readers to be themselves because nobody else is better…. well, in a nice way!

15 People Who Inspire Me - Paul Smith Valentino ASHISH(via Instagram)

8. Maria Grazia Chiuriand and Pier Paolo Piccioli – Creative Directors – Valentino

Fairly recently, Valentino as a fashion house has really intrigued me so I’m going to put down Maria & Pier for similar reasons to Paul Smith. Valentino is such an interesting brand and all of their recent collections have been so beautiful.

9. Susanna Lau – Fashion Blogger – Style Bubble

Everytime I go to my wardrobe, I genuinely ask myself “What would Susie wear?”… I know I love wearing what I want, and I promote that through and through but Susie has the most awesome wardrobe and I will always be inspired. PLUS, she is an incredible writer. Truly brilliant.

15 People Who Inspire Me - Paul Smith Valentino ASHISH(via Instagram)

10. Cara Delevingne – Model & Actress

You might be surprised by this one! The only real ‘celebrity’ on the list and she’s actually a model. I don’t need to explain who she is but I just find that her out-going and care free way of doing things is pretty darn cool. Can I be her?

15 People Who Inspire Me - Paul Smith Valentino ASHISH(via Instagram)

11. ASOS – Fashion Brand

Not technically a ‘person’ but ASOS do inspire me! They seem to have everything put together in just the right way. They’re the most awesome fashion brand there is right now. They cater for all budgets, styles etc. Can I be… ASOS too?

15 People Who Inspire Me - Paul Smith Valentino ASHISH(via Instagram)

12. Frédérique Tietcheu – Fashion Blogger & Confidence Coach – SHE Unleashed

Freddie isn’t just another blogger, she’s also a confidence coach and I can see why. Freddie just expresses being yourself through out everything she does. Plus her style is uber cool too… and that hair? WOW.

15 People Who Inspire Me - Paul Smith Valentino ASHISH(via Instagram)

13. Ashish Gupta – Fashion Designer – ASHISH

A fashion designer who has just done it all in such an awesome way. The “King of Sequins” who has the most epic runway shows ever. I love what ASHISH has to say as a brand, especially more recently with their choice of models… we need more of this!

14. My Family

Soppy soppy, get those tissues out, yeah? Haha! I had to mention them though. Ever since I started my blog they have supported me all the way and they just let me be me. I couldn’t ask for anything more. That’s my sister and nephew on the left, and my mum, sister and I all wearing stripes on the right!

15 People Who Inspire Me - Paul Smith Valentino ASHISH(via Instagram)

15. YOU – Followers on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, BlogLovin and YouTube

Don’t put away those tissues just yet because I need to put you in here too! Yes, YOU! Anyone who reads my blog inspires me because they support me. You guys never (really) have anything bad to say and you just embrace what I do and I love that! Thank you, like seriously… thank you! Those two pictures were taken by a school in Texas… yes, that is me on the big screen!

My Style: Fangirling BANKSY in Neon*

By June 21, 2014 My Style

It’s another My Style post! No wonder as they are probably my favourite to post as I get to edit the pictures nicely and all that jazz! Plus, you guys seem to like them…. so I ain’t complaining! 😀 Pssst, want to go to a musical party with the people at Company magazine on June 25th?! A lot of time recently, I go to my wardrobe and say ‘What would Susie wear?’… Susie being fellow blogger, Susie Lau/Bubble, and I definitely feel like this is her kind of outfit… toned down a bit! I saw these (there are two… one white, one green) petticoats in Oxfam… just poking out like, ‘Take me home… take me home!’, and that’s exactly what I did. For me £7.99 is quite a lot for a charity shop, but I have no regrets. I love the way they look fun, but the length gives them that ‘chic’ edge to them, and anything tulle makes me happy. My bargain H&M skirt I got in October is perfect for how sheer it is too… aww I just love this outfit! Oh wait, hang-on, did I mention I did these pictures in front of a Banksy?! Yeah, just casual… 😀

It hits me just at the right place and is so comfortable! I loveeee it! Anyway, enough about that, lets talk Banksy! You probably know where this is already, but isn’t it cool?! It’s actually really big, and I love the fact it’s in an open space so you always notice it. I really would love to know how much the house it is on is worth… or how many times people have posed in the phone box! Me and Papa Posh were taking these pictures and we are pretty sure we made it a trend… lots of people came over and did the same thing… well except without the outfit detail shots in the mix!

AT. THIS. CLUTCH. It’s a LEMON. Yes, a LEMON. How cool?! I don’t actually use bags that much because I never having anything I need to bring with me, but this is the perfect size. It doesn’t feel too big just to have sunglasses and a lip balm in (yup…), so it’s honestly the best bag ever. I’ve already got it grubby… it’s definitely going to be my essential this summer! On top of that, how cute does it look!

TEEN VOGUE HANDBOOK//FASHION & FASHION DESIGNER DICTIONARY//DREAMING OF DIOR//STYLE FEED//STYLE DIARIES
fashion books style feed style diaries dreaming of dior fashion dictionary teen vogue handbook fashion books style feed style diaries dreaming of dior fashion dictionary teen vogue handbook fashion books style feed style diaries dreaming of dior fashion dictionary teen vogue handbookTEEN VOGUE HANDBOOK – £7.49 – AMAZON

Let’s start with the most obvious one… by that I of course mean, the Teen Vogue Handbook. I have read this all the way through, and it is pretty darn good! It’s basically a book going into the lives of people in the fashion industry, and how they got there, along with tips and tricks on how you can get there. The cool thing is that as you go along, it asks questions to do with each job that there is available. You get to learn so much about each part of the industry.

The layout is beautiful and all the pictures are gorgeous which makes it such a nice book to read. In each section they have a page which is a ‘tool kit’ for that job, and I love it! There are pages focusing on people like Anna Wintour, the Teen Vogue Fashion Market Team, Phillip Lim, Mario Testino, Marc Jacobs, and many more, so you really get a feel for what life is like in the fashion industry. One of my favourite pages is page 206, where they tell you how a shot was created for a photoshoot, and it is hilarious! At the back of the book they have a list of design schools, the prices, what are the benefits of each one etc, and it is actually surprisingly helpful!

Would I recommend it? – Yes! It’s really interesting and you learn a lot.
Who would you recommend it to? – I would recommend it to anyone who thinks they might want to have a job in the fashion industry, or anyone who is generally interested in fashion!
Any cons? – The only con really is that because there are so many pictures, at times you forget to actually read the book, so if you are a looker not a reader, then this might not be for you!

fashion books style feed style diaries dreaming of dior fashion dictionary teen vogue handbook fashion books style feed style diaries dreaming of dior fashion dictionary teen vogue handbook fashion books style feed style diaries dreaming of dior fashion dictionary teen vogue handbookFASHION & FASHION DESIGNERS DICTIONARY – £7.96 – AMAZON

The next one I have is the Thames & Hudson Fashion and Fashion Designers Dictionary. Now you might think, Tolly, why are you reading a dictionary? Well my friend, because it is very very insightful. Although I read it before bed and I cannot actually remember things off the top of my head… that is not to say it is a bad book! I don’t really know how I can describe this book because it literally is… a DICTIONARY! It’s full of everything about fashion, and it is actually what helps me make my topics for my A-Z series.

Not like the Teen Vogue Handbook, you can actually read it without getting distracted as there aren’t that many pictures. I would probably like a few more for things like shapes etc, but I wouldn’t say it is a problem. For the value, I think you are getting a lot from this book and it has been really helpful for me!

Would you recommend it? – Yes! Not much more to say, but a definite yes!
Who would you recommend it to? – Anybody who needs/wants to learn about fashion. I would say any fashion student needs this book in their life!
Any cons? – Only the fact that sometimes a few more pictures/diagrams are needed!

fashion books style feed style diaries dreaming of dior fashion dictionary teen vogue handbook fashion books style feed style diaries dreaming of dior fashion dictionary teen vogue handbook fashion books style feed style diaries dreaming of dior fashion dictionary teen vogue handbookDREAMING OF DIOR – PRICE VARIES – AMAZON

This is a book I didn’t really realise I was going to like until I read it page by page. Dreaming of Dior is a book all about a collection of dresses that the author has inherited and she basically tells the story of each dress through this book. Some of the stories are heart-warming and some are sad, but the book is just gorgeous to read, and it’s all real!

Each story is quite short so it’s a great book to either read all the way through, or time to time. I love looking at the illustrations of the dresses and deciding which one I would wear, or not, or how I would change the dress to make it suit me. It’s not necessarily a learning book, but it’s too lovely not to include.

Would you recommend it? – Absolutely! Even if you don’t learn from it, it’s a great read!
Who would you recommend it to? – Anybody who loves clothes will enjoy this book!
Any cons? – Nope… maybe the stories could be longer, but maybe that is what makes the book great!

STYLE FEED – £11.55 – AMAZON

Of course being a blogger myself, I had to include a fashion blogging book. Just like the Teen Vogue Handbook, you’ve probably heard of Style Feed before. The book is basically about the world’s top fashion blogs, from 2005 – 2011. It’s written by both William Oliver and Susie Bubble, and it features some really interesting people and their blogs. Of course it is understandable but quite a few of the blogs are those ones we all know about like Tavi G, The Man Repeller, Anna Dello Russo, etc etc, which kinda’ irritated me because I just wish smaller blogs got into these things!

I would say this is more of a coffee table book… maybe not in my case seeing as it was printed awfully (I have to miss out a few blogs), but the reason it is, is purely the fact that I don’t really find it that interesting. Not to say that everyone else will feel the same way, but IMO, it could have a bit more too it. A plus would be the outfit inspiration in this book… they are awesome! The reason it is in my Top 5 though is because I am sure other people will love it more than me!

Would you recommend it? – Yes and no. I think it depends on who you are!
Who would you recommend it to? – Other fellow bloggers and maybe students wanting to learn more about blogging.
Any cons? – My copy was printed terribly, and I didn’t think it was very interesting.

fashion books style feed style diaries dreaming of dior fashion dictionary teen vogue handbook fashion books style feed style diaries dreaming of dior fashion dictionary teen vogue handbook fashion books style feed style diaries dreaming of dior fashion dictionary teen vogue handbookSTYLE DIARIES – £16.99 – AMAZON

Along the very same lines we have Style Diaries which I absolutely prefer to Style Feed. Other than just featuring the top blogs in the world it features loads more, smaller ones too! There is so much diversity in this one too, which makes me smile! Plus, there were no printing errors! Yipee!

If you are on the look out for new blogs to read, but don’t want to keep tweeting everyone and anyone, then GET THIS BOOK! There are male fashion bloggers, vintage fashion bloggers, punk, modern, crazy and cute fashion bloggers in this book and you are sure to find a new favourite! Although there are lots of lovely pictures, I would say that this is quite a pricey book for what it is… but for the inspiration, and for all the new blogs to find, maybe it is worth it!

Would your recommend it? – Yes, yes, I would!
Who would you recommend it to? – Bloggers, blog readers, fashion loving people!
Any cons? – The price… as I said, there are a lot of pictures… maybe try find it second hand?

Before you started writing this book, you were PA for John Galliano. Is the writing industry as buzzing and fast paced as the fashion industry? What made you stop and turn to writing?: Fashion is constantly changing so you have to move quickly to keep up. Also, because it’s so youth oriented, fashion is at the forefront of new trends and ideas. All of this gives it a high day-to-day buzz. That’s just fashion: it’s always “on”. For me, as a writer, publishing moves at a much slower speed than fashion, but that’s because the process of writing and publishing just one book takes oodles of time! As soon as it’s publishing time, the buzz picks up and the buzz is intense, and after a while I start yearning for some buzz-free days!

Could you describe the sort of person who might enjoy Model Under Cover?: Ooh! That’s easy! Anyone who wants a thrilling, page-turning read! Model Under Cover: A Crime of Fashion has a juicy mystery, and fresh, young romance set against the glittery, fast-paced world of fashion; these are things that I think interest most of us. I also think that Axelle’s sassiness will appeal to all kinds of girls.

I hope you liked this super duper long post! I will be back with another post on Fashion Revolution Day talking about something quite interesting! See on the 24th April!

Tulle Dresses & Neon Trainers

By August 17, 2013 Fashion

I’m writing this, or ‘was writing’ this late at night before bed, because I realised I had nothing to post today. I don’t really know where this post is going, but something is better than nothing I guess. This is the first spontaneous post I have done in a while. It feels normal again. I have nothing ‘I have to publish’ at the moment. I like it. Thank goodness!

tulle dressesThe White Pepper Tulle Skirt £28.00 (ASOS), The White Pepper Chiffon Midi Dress with Sheer Top £28.50 (ASOS), GEL-Noosa Tri 8 (Asics), Nike Air Vortex Hyper Blue Trainers £65.00 (ASOS) & Nike Free Run 2 Ext Trainers £80.00 (ASOS).

My obsession with Tulle Dresses & Neon Trainers together started when I saw Susie Bubble instagram a picture of her at her £1 Yard Sale (It started at 11am, it ended at 11.10am. Yup, everything sold in the space of 10 minutes!!!), and I literally fell in love. 2 things which should be so wrong together, look some how… absolutely stunning? I’m not the hugest of Susie Bubble fans (sorry…), but I do like her style, especially the outfit she wore on that day.

Not only is tulle such an interesting fabric to look at and feel, the trainers add a touch of ‘hipster’ (ergh, what an awful word), and an awful lot of comfort for your feet. I’ve had quite a few Nikes (Is it Nike-ys or Nikes? So controversial… I told you I had know idea where this post was going!) over the years at school, and not only did think they made my legs look quite ‘athletic’, they were super duper snug. I still have my size 4 pair in the shoe basket which don’t fit at all, yet I still hope that one day my feet will shrink… um, nat’ gonna’ happen. I give you permission to call me Tolly Big Feet.

tulle dresses asics noosa igs

To make my love for neon trainers even bigger, and my long for the perfect pair at a reasonable price even harder to bare, the owner of a restaurant we had a drink in the other day, was wearing the beauties above (similar are linked with the other trainers). I don’t know why but french men seem to have good taste in footwear… aren’t they amazing?! I loved them so much I wrote down the brand and googled them when I got home, to my dismay, they are men’s only (I could so rock them though couldn’t I?), and were £100+, or should I say dollars. *Curse you American brands for only stocking things in America, even thought that makes perfect sense* I am now on the hunt for a cheap pair of neon trainers which are super duper comfy and will last me forever and ever, AND a tulle dress in a pretty bright colour. Thanks Susie.

To celebrate my new blog banner, I’m holding a give-away! To be in a chance with winning, make sure to click HERE and answer the 1 obligatory question! Good Luck!
