My Style: Sweet Sweet Meringue*

By January 19, 2014 My Style

Hello! I’m back with another ‘My Style’ OOTD for you! I’m obsessed with The Carrie Diaries at the moment, so this outfit is definitely inspired by her style. I love mixing prints anyway, but this combo is awesome… in my opinion 😉

Do you remember my Christmas Wishlist? Well, one of the items was a gorgeous pair of Soldier heels from ASOS, and look what I have! The ASOS Santa was doing a Give-Away, and I won some! YAY! I also treated myself to this skirt in the sale, and I am so happy I did! It’s so nice, and I’ve never had a denim skirt before so this is a nice all season addition. 2 other additions to my wardrobe, are my pink coat – so trendy 😉 😉 – and my gorgeous necklace. I love them both so much! The coat actually fits so nicely, and it’s a size 8 as well, so well done ARK! Unfortunately I have 1 broken version of this necklace, and 1 good version, which is a shame, but it is very good quality and even has sparkles in it… win win! If my hair was blonde and curly, I could get away as Carrie Bradshaw right? Gahh, I wish my hair wasn’t so bland… I mean, most people would love to have straight soft hair, but I would do anything for a bit of shape and volume. I finished Season 1 of The Carrie Diaries within like, 5 days… and I bought the book… and I kinda’ really want to just be her… *sigh* …although, am I the only one who doesn’t find Sebastian attractive? No? Just me… rightio… *awkward whistle*

I love all of the colours against each other in this outfit, and I can get away with wearing thick tights too! I love, love lovepastel against monochrome as well, it looks so purrrrty. Oh, and if you are interested, that is how high the shoes are! They’re pretty high, and make me taller than my sister, but they are so comfortable because they have a block heel. I’m just getting used to walking in them seeing as I’m more of a flats gal, but other than stairs, I seem to be doing well. Holographic shoes are in my wardrobe guys… mission accomplished 😀 Take a look at that meringue too… oh it was SO good! Definitely picture worthy! So picture worthy, I had to have these funny ones taken…

I honestly cannot wait until the summer when I can whip off those thick tights and coat. Summer here in France is so beautiful and makes me so happy, and I miss it like mad. Plus it means I can get a tan – Oh dear, I just said that in my head like Donna from TCD… oops… probably not the best of people to think it like… – and I can go to the beach and lay by the pool (if the wasps aren’t buzzing around, I have a HUGE phobia) and drink as many glasses of Coca-Cola that I wish…

My Style: Nike Free TR Fit 5.0*

By September 26, 2013 My Style

I am writing this blog post while trying to warm myself up. I decided I would be all brave and YOLO it, by jumping in the pool which was apparently 17 degrees C. Yeah… Anyway! I’m really excited to bring you this new My Style instalment, because… my wishes came true! I finally have a pair of Neon Trainers… *hallelujah hallelujah hallel-u-u-u-jah!*

nike review 1 nike review 2 nike review 3Nike Free TR Fit 5.0 £85.00* & Nike 3 Pack Low Ped Socks £10.00* (Both at JD Sports)

When these beauties arrived, I literally squealed. They are the most gorgeous pair of trainers that I have ever laid my eyes on. The thing I love with Nike’s is the fact that they fit like a dream on me. If you have slim feet, any pair of Nike shoes, are bound to fit you like a glove. These caught my eye on JD Sports because of the colour and print, I would never usually go for a style of trainer like this, but I now absolutely love them. The one thing I didn’t realise was the geometric embossed sort of style which you can see clearly in the pictures above, but it makes them extra cool. The outer material is sort of a mesh/wipe clean type, so it means you can get most dirt off if you go for a run when it’s wet (I did this, and they still look as good as new). Comfort wise, they are perfect.

I walked around all day with them, and they didn’t ache or irritate my feet at all. The socks make it even more enjoyable because they are very cosy fitting, and stay put, so no irritating feet here! The one thing I only noticed very recently was a special page on the Nike site, which says to start using them gradually… I didn’t know this so being silly, I’ve been wearing them every day… oops. Sorry feet! I took a closer look at the sole of my trainers, and the front/toe area is a lot more flexible than the rest of the shoe, which means that you are using your muscles more naturally. If you wiggle your toes about, you will see that most of the front part of your foot will move, where as your heel stays put. The soles are specially made exactly for that reason. Clever! 😉

”Nike Free shoes are specifically designed to let your feet move more naturally and freely than traditional athletic shoes. Over time, this helps make your feet stronger. But because you’ll be using some muscles in your feet more than you might be used to, it may take some time for them to get used to all that freedom. To give your feet time to adapt, we recommend you transition into using your Nike Free footwear gradually.” – Nike

I love styling these shoes, whether it is for a walk around the local lake (the reason for the slide…), or for an actual run, they look great. I love wearing this dress with them, because it makes it look very… modern and girly?! It’s definitely still a weather appropriate outfit, and when it gets a bit cooler, I can just pop on some purple leopard print leggings (yeah, double leopard print – I’m making it a thing.), or some jeans. The morning I took these pictures, I made another floral headband. I found the gorgeous false flowers when wondering through a town, where a man had a stall selling lots of different varieties, and for just €3.00 for a bunch of 2, I was very satisfied. Ahhh, I still cannot believe how beautiful my new trainers are, I am one very lucky girl.

I definitely think a new pair of trainers can really motivate you to start getting fit. I haven’t done a lot of sport because of being home schooled, but I am going to try and starting doing some running. I think if you feel good in what you wear whilst running/cycling etc, you will feel like you have worth doing it for. I just want to state that I am not doing running to lose weight. I am running to get fit and to be more active and healthy, I have no intention of losing any weight.

My Style: The Sunsets Over The Valley

By August 7, 2013 DIY & Lifestyle, Fashion, My Style

I’m so excited to publish this post! It’s the first OOTD with our new family camera! (Nikon D3200 FYI) I am really pleased with the outcome so far! We’re all still learning so that’s why they aren’t pro at the moment, but I hope you enjoy the new quality!

What I Wore: Sleeveless Top (River Island – 2 piece set), Gold & Multicolour Gem Necklace (eBay), Vintage Blue & White Striped Skirt €5.00 (Jumble Sale), Black Jelly Sandals €4.00 (Supermarket), Vintage Style Wayfarer Sunglasses (Claire’s), Gold Middle Finger Ring (Jumble Sale) & Bourjois Bleu Fabuleux.

I am literally in love with this outfit. It is so comfy and simple, yet I think it looks totally awesome. I recently bought this skirt from an old lady who said her mum made it for her in the 1950s. I added my new bargain sandals from the supermarket – aren’t I cool -, which are soooo comfy and a right bargain. The necklace is from eBay and you can find more information about them in this post here. If you’re wondering what bag I am carrying, it is in fact the camera bag. So blogger-y.

A couple of weeks ago, we went out to a tiny little music ‘festival’ near us which was going on in the evening. We had no idea what to expect, but what we did find was quite funny! The ‘festival’ was in 2 fields, 1 for cars and campers, and 1 for the food, skating ramps, and the stage. It was pretty scary walking in because most of the people there looked like they  were… most probably on drugs. It was like a tiny weeny version of Glastonbury with mostly hippies. It was quite a nice atmosphere though, with queues of people at the bar and some jamaican music on the stage. The lighting meant it was the perfect time to take pictures with the new camera, and of course a perfect opportunity to curl my hair for the first time in like for ever. I like them really loose by the way, that’s why my hair looks crazy!

I’m pretty darn impressed with the pictures we took on that night seeing as we didn’t know how to use all the snazzy settings that well. We even got some good bokeh shots in (camera knowledge), which I have been really keen to try out! We had a 50cent crepe each with lemon and sugar of course, a quick drink and that was us done! I believe there was going to be a circus act after we left, but to be honest, it wasn’t really our sort of place anyway, but it was a cool experience. I also guess it means I have been to a festival this year! Woop! Not quite Glastonbury, but it will do. I’m still on my 2 week break, but I will be back shortly! Speak soon guys, I miss you!

My Style: Beside the Seaside!

By April 25, 2013 Fashion, My Style

”Oh I do like to be beside the seaside! Oh I do like to stroll along the prom, prom, prom! Where the brass band plays, ‘Tiddly-Om-Pom-Pom!”

I recently went to the seaside! We (The family) went to Arcachon near Bordeaux. It was about a 3 hour drive, but totally worth it – she says as her forehead stings from sun burn – as it was gloriously sunny and I got to wear a few of my recent purchases and I get to show you ‘my style’ for the day!

My style is rapidly changing, but in a good way. I decided to go for a more vintage style, and I think it worked okay (if I do say so myself!) All in all this was a pretty cheap outfit, and I am very proud of it. My brother decided to call me a ‘granny’, which in a way I agree with (….) but, I would say it’s ‘granny chic’ more than anything. I really like this skirt and I think I will wear it a lot this spring and summer. I also love this blouse! 50 CENTS?! It’s quite loose, but I think it’s a good thing as it makes it more comfortable and light for warmer climates. I also like wearing it with a pair of canvas trousers, and some flip flops. These shoes are also gems! They were from a stall at a jumble sale run by an Australian woman, who offered me them for €11.00 instead of €15.00 which was reasonable. They are real leather and really really well made, and I also love how they have a small heel which makes me feel all ‘clippity cloppity’ and special. Haha. 🙂 Oh, and that ice cream. THAT was delicious! We had a walk down the beach after that and it was sooooo nice! We then chased the waves (SO FUN!) and went back home. I shall leave you with these pictures. The last one is my fave! Awww!
