My Style: Me? Sarcastic? Never!*

By July 11, 2016 My Style

Although my style is definitely heading into more versatile, bohemian territory, it’s always fun to revisit different styles and aesthetics, so in today’s outfit post, that’s exactly what I’m doing! With the help of a novelty Skinnydip number of course…

WHAT I WORE: Embroidered Blouse (Charity Shop) // Mom Jeans (Pull & Bear) // Strappy Buckle Heels (New Look – old)* // Sunglasses (Topshop – old) // Liquid Sarcasm Bag (Skinnydip London @ House of Fraser)*

I haven’t worn a ‘kitsch’ outfit in a while, but there are definitely still elements of styling cutesy things up that I enjoy, like mixing bright colours with monochrome and denim. White and black work well with any colour and any texture, hence why everything in this outfit seems to blend perfectly, even though the blouse has western almost cowboy-like influences and the heels are modern with silver buckles.

Speaking of that blouse – as you can tell, I’m really not slowing down on this blouse obsession! Although this post lacks in ethical brands, I will let you know that every blouse I own (bar one) is second-hand or from ASOS Africa… so although I’m buying them at a ridiculous rate, they’re not doing any harm. Few!

I’m still loving my mom jeans too… although, I haven’t really worn them other than in this post recently because it has been about 100 billion degrees outside (slight exaggeration there, Tolly) and I am not going to risk melting myself to death… hm. Really, I’ve been opting for a floaty off the shoulder gypsy blouse and a pair of my Reclaimed Vintage mosaic trousers  (yes, you read that right ‘a pair’, because I own two as they’re just too good).

I actually just want to make a note and say that I recently tweeted ASOS to ask where their Reclaimed Vintage pieces are made and I had a response from their manufacturer to say that all of the pieces are made in England. Pretty cool, huh? I’m going to have to take their word for it because as soon as my next pay day comes around (heh – blogging life, who knows when that will be?)… well, let’s just say there’s a dress I have my eyes on.

In terms of accessories in this post, I finally own a classic Skinnydip London bag! It was a lovely little treat from House of Fraser and I have to say that’s it rather photogenic! Plus, I’m like totally not sarcastic or anything, so this bag totally doesn’t match up to my personality or anything… nope.

Also, on top of the novelty handbag, can I just point out our cliche pool donuts? I had my eyes on them for a while so it was quite a fun treat when they arrived in the post from Mama Posh! That actually is a positive to the amazing weather right now… going in the pool for days on end!

This blog post felt rather chatty, which is quite nice after my recent posts! I hope you’ve been enjoying this boost in quality (over quantity) and that you’re looking forward to the next weeks and months to come! July is quite an exciting one as my sister is due with her second baby in a couple of weeks time which will make me an aunty to two! And then we have August which is a month for family, visiting the David Bowie Is exhibition in Bologna (finally – I cannot wait!) and waiting nervously for something rather exciting I was recently filmed for, to be released into the world. Stay tuned!

Also – so! many! exclamation! marks! Tolly! When! will! it! ever! end?!

What have you been wearing recently? Have you ever gone back to an old style? Let me know in the comments!

Twenty-sixteen.

By January 3, 2016 General

First of all, Happy New Year! This is officially my first blog post of 2016… which also means the first blog post for my 4th year of blogging… crazy! I still can’t quite believe 2015 is over, I think it genuinely was the most fast paced year of all time, I mean seriously, where did it go?

~ MMXVI ~

2015 was an odd year for me… a lot happened but it’s as if I didn’t really have the right sort of grip on it all. Like it just sort of blurred past me and then I was like, oh wait, that happened, didn’t it? (That probably makes no sense at all, but this is just going to be one of those updatey type posts so bear with people, bear with!) And that’s why I want 2016 to be different… I want to be able to actually grasp onto opportunities and realise exactly what’s happening.

I want to really just go for it, because quite frankly, I need to. Even if I start with small things, I think it might actually work this year. I’ve already taken a pretty big step in telling myself that after April, I will most definitely be dying my hair a washed out navy blue… the April part is rather specific as I’m going to be maid of honour at my sister’s wedding and I’m not quite sure I’m brave enough to walk down the aisle (um… sort of) with my new-do. But it will happen people! I will dye my hair and it will in some way help me to step up to bigger things. I can feel it.

WHAT I WORE: Faux Fur Coat (Jumble Sale) // Maison Scotch Blouse (Jumble Sale) // Good Morning Sweatshirt (Wildfox Kids)* // Ripped Flares (New Look Teens)* // Nike TR Fit 5.0 Trainers (JD Sports)* // Personalisable Necklace (Primark) // Sunglasses (SCOUT)

In terms of real goals… I’m not sure. I used to do real step by step goals but now it’s just sort of a general aim to get things going. I have a few plans for my blog example, including a new interview feature that I’ve been working on for a really long time and just the overall idea of extending my content to more intellectual and in-depth topics.

I started to do this towards the end of last year, but things got hectic with #MooiEnLiefbyTDP (oh yeah, I launched a collection last year, didn’t I?) and I ended up putting too much pressure on myself… hence my drop in blog posts. After running a site like this for so long, I suppose you set yourself up for expectations when really, the only expectations are in your head. I’m doing this for me after all, right? The added bonus is all of the opportunities and amazing readers on top.

I’m forever grateful for what blogging has given me and I don’t regret a single bit of it. I hope 2016 brings even more to TDP, in whatever direction it takes. I’m thinking I might refresh things again too, so it might not be just my hair getting a change. If I do change things up, it won’t be anything too drastic… it’s just with my age, I’m always changing and I feel like I’ve already grown out of my 2014 update (two years is a long time for a teen, just sayin’)… so who knows. We’ll see!

As for you, I hope you stick around and that you all have an even better year than the last. You’re all awesome and I absolutely love being able to chat and converse about things we all love and enjoy. Who knows, maybe we’ll meet in person this year? There are endless possibilities waiting for us… I guess it’s just about going out and grabbing them.

Good luck you crafty jack rabbits… 100 brownie points if you can point out that reference. 100 brownie points if you can’t either, because you’re all equally awesome.

Merry Christmas - New Look - Claire's Accessories - Polaroid Photoshoot Merry Christmas - New Look - Claire's Accessories - Polaroid Photoshoot

~ MERRY CHRISTMAS ~

This is just a quick little blog post to wish you all a Merry Christmas (if you celebrate it, of course)! I hope that you all have a lovely few days relaxing and chilling out with your family and friends and spoiling them rotten with love and kisses (and presents if you really wanted to go that far… 😉🎁). I thought I’d give a quick mini Polaroid photo shoot a go for today’s post… it’s quite tricky getting the lighting perfect in each one, but I hope you like the idea!

If you’re not with friends or family this Christmas, go out in to your communities and share the love and spirit because that’s what it’s all about… and if you don’t celebrate, I really hope you’re having a lovely holiday nonetheless and are getting excited for the New Year! I’m 16 next year… crazy times, people! Crazy times.

Oh and just so you know, I’m once again wearing my beautiful New Look jumper* (I styled it up over here last Christmas), with a few accessories from the awesome Claire’s*. I’ll definitely be taking a few more silly snaps tomorrow… who knows, maybe Father Christmas will pop some more gorgeous items under my tree? 😏🎅 Who knows… *sigh*

Merry Christmas! Let me know what you’re getting up to and how you’re ringing in 2016, in the comments below…

My Style: An Unconventional Prom Outfit with Boohoo*

By March 25, 2015 My Style

So, as I mentioned a couple of posts ago, I’ve teamed up with Boohoo on a little prom outfit! Last year I worked with New Look, so it’s been really interesting to compare the two sites and what they have to offer. I’ve definitely noticed a difference which is why this is more of an ‘uncoventional’ prom outfit idea… but then, I’m pretty much always unconventional…

WHAT I WORE: Shaggy Faux Fur Jacket £20.00 (Boohoo)* // Magenta Prom Dress £18.00 (Boohoo)* // Metallic Temporary Tattoos £4.00 (Boohoo)* // Floral Necklace (Boohoo)* // Zebra Top (Jumble Sale) // Eye Clutch (Sunita Mukhi)* // White High Heels (New Look)*

Obviously (well to most people anyway), the dress is the most important part to a prom outfit. In my opinion, you could wear a jumpsuit, a top and trouser combo, anything you like, but a dress sometimes looks good too. This dress really jumped out at me for the colour and the shape. It’s actually an off-the-shoulder dress but due to me being a tiny little thing, it’s more like an… ‘off-the-elbow’ dress. I managed to save it and still make it look half prom like with my nifty zebra roll neck top. I honestly love that top.

I also honestly love this jacket. I have to be honest with you, it isn’t the best quality, but I think the texture is very unusual. Along with this prom dress, I’ve been loving wearing it with 70s style denim and chunky platform heels. It’s the perfect day-to-night piece, don’t you think? I think for a prom too, it’s a great cover up for those chilly nights.

For accessories, I decided to top the look off with a chunky necklace (which I actually, really, really love) and a cute, sparkly clutch. The necklace is a sort of raindrop style, dark transparent grey with a dark chunky chain… something I’d usually avoid but actually looks kinda’ funky on. Oh and the shoes you ask? Well they’re actually from last year’s prom post but I still love em’. I did however get some other Boohoo shoes which you can see styled up in this DIY blog post.

You may noticed throughout this post that I have put some snazzy geometric overlays on my images… well, well, well. These are actually in fact metallic temporary tattoos! How cool? You can see them on me above. I’m so obsessed. It’s such a cool idea and adds that tiny detail extra. It’s all a great way to avoid wearing heavy jewellery and bracelets that fall off whilst you dance the night away. They really are quite shiny and I definitely need to purchase some more. SO. COOL.

What do you think of my prom outfit? What are you wearing for your prom? I’d love to know in the comments!

(Items marked with an * in this post were sent to me for review purposes. I was not paid to write or publish this blog post by Boohoo. Read my full dislcaimer here.)

How To Style Jeans And A Top | Outfit Grids

By February 15, 2015 General

So the weather deceived me. It was all sunny and “You can just wear a jacket today Tolly”, and now it’s gloomy and rainy, which means I couldn’t take any outfit pictures, boo! Knowing my luck it will get sunny again just as I pop this up, but oh well! Instead, I’ve decided to do a few outfits in a slightly different way. You may have seen these ‘outfit grid’ Instagram snaps, or those ‘flat lay outfits’ before, so today I’m gonna’ give that a go! This is a few ideas on how to style jeans and a top! Sorry if these are a bit too summery for your liking, I’m just feeling colourful so I needed to express it! Roll on the sunshine!

Mom Jeans (Jumble Sale) // Whatever Top (Adolescent Clothing)* // Faux Fur Backpack (George at ASDA) // Vagabond Dioon (Mastershoe)* // Blue Floral Sunglasses (ASOS)

The first outfit is one I made up just before falling asleep… just like most of my ideas (darn it!). I love the whole preppy kinda’ thing, so this is the perfect casual jean + top combo’ for me. Soft grays, whites and pastel blues compliment each other so nicely, and inject that hint of colour. I’d say this is the perfect way to experiment with your wardrobe if you like a comfy and minimal look. Statement tops are also a perfect way to inject a bit of fun!

Mom Jeans (Jumble Sale) // Whatever Top (Adolescent Clothing)* // Pink Tweed Jacket (Jumble Sale) // Metallic Lace Up Flats (New Look)* // Novelty Donut Clutch (New Look) // Blue Floral Sunglasses (ASOS)

I think a jacket can really pull together and outfit and my pink tweed jacket is the one for me! I love how the colours all merge together and add to the casual combo, but the metallic of the shoes add that something special. I can also announce that I am indeed the proud owner of that donut clutch from New Look. How cool is it though? SO. COOL.

Mom Jeans (Jumble Sale) // Whatever Top (Adolescent Clothing)* // Pastel Purple Faux Fur Gilet (Choies) // Johnny Loves Rosie Floral Headband (ASOS) // Vagabond Dioon (Mastershoe)* // Clear Sunglasses (Topshop)

Last but certainly not least, this purple and pastel number. I love this! I definitely need to wear this as the weather gets better. The faux fur adds a twist of texture, and the floral headband is super cute! I’ve had my eye on it for ages, so when it went down to less than £5, I couldn’t resist! My favourite pair of sunglasses make an appearance too; they’re perfect with any outfit because they’re clear, meaning they don’t not match anything!

So there we have it! What did you think? Let me know if you want me to do anymore posts like this, as it was quite fun to put together! I’d be happy to 🙂 Just to let you know that my next post will be the start of my 2nd ever London Fashion Blog Week as I’m super busy next week, so they’ll be going up every other day for you! Santa Claus Is Coming To Town…

By December 4, 2014 My Style

He sees you when you’re sleeping, he knows when you’re awake! He knows if you’ve been bad or good, so be good for goodness sake! Oh… hello there 🙂 I won’t bore you with a whole rendition of that Christmassy tune, but I will bore you (or maybe not) with a Christmassy set of photos! Christmas is literally just around the corner… like just over 2 weeks right?! How crazy. I decided to get a little bit festive and start getting my wrapping done now, before it all gets a bit hectic. How excited am I for Christmas? I’m pretty darn excited.

In the ‘Posh’ family, we’ve never really had a Christmas jumper tradition, but I am definitely a lover of the cosy, and cheesy feeling that they bring. This year I’m sporting a cute pastel blue number from New Look, which I am in love with. It’s super warm and soft, and definitely fits in with my adoration for all things pastel and kawaii. The Santa face also looks kinda’ retro, which I think adds to the classic feel of a Christmas sweater. I also love the sequins… it’s got me rather excited to wake up on Christmas Day and slip it on just in time for opening my stocking. Cute, huh?

New Look Christmas Jumper Santa Claus ~ THE PRESENTS ~

I know some people genuinely hate this part of Christmas Day, but I am SO excited for it… and that’s seeing people open my presents! It’s such a nice feeling seeing their plain faces change to huge great big grins when they see what’s inside the lovely wrapping. Obviously presents are quite hard to buy if you don’t have a list or have any clue as to what the receiver might like, but either way, most people are lovely enough to appreciate even a piece of coal 😉 But… if you do need any inspiration, make sure to check out my gift guide here!

Another gift which would be perfect is a pair of Heat Holders. I’ve always been a fan, and they kindly sent another pair to add to my collection but due to a little photography crisis I had for this post, I couldn’t fit them in, but please do check them out if you have a set of cold toes!

New Look Christmas Jumper Santa Claus

New Look Christmas Jumper Santa Claus~ THE TRADITIONS ~

I think one of the most common questions asked when it comes to Christmas is, ‘What are your traditions?’. For my family, it’s waking up earlier than usual, grabbing our stockings (lovingly placed on the ends of our beds during the night… yes, I am 14 and my siblings are almost all 20…), and racing to our parents room to open them up. It’s always been something I’ve been excited for, because we all truly love Christmas. Not for the presents, but for being altogether. I’m also starting to appreciate that more and more as my siblings get older, as soon it will just be me on the end of Mama & Papa Posh’s bed… oh dear, don’t get the water works starting!

(This is not a sponsored post. I was kindly gifted a New Look Christmas jumper, but all opinions are 100% honest. The mention of Heat Holders was just a little thank you for them sending me a pair my way… I just couldn’t fit them in photo form! Read my full disclaimer here.)

A-Z Fashion Guide: Broderie Anglaise

By November 10, 2014 A-Z Fashion

Yay! My first official Series Sunday post! Erm, I do apologise that its on a Monday this week *cry laughs* but anyway… when I re-launched my site, I said that I would start this ‘thing’ where I publish a post every Sunday from a series I’m running, so here I am! I do promise it will be on a Sunday next week, I totally forgot to press the publish button! About this post though… I’ve had a look and realised I haven’t done a letter in my A-Z Fashion Guide since May of this year… *gulps*…so hopefully with this new ‘thing’, I should get back on it! Today, I have the 2nd letter of B, and it’s all going to be about Broderie Anglaise!

broderie anglaise a-z fashion guide

~ BRODERIE ANGLAISE ~

Broderie Anglaise has been around in Europe since the 16th century (or even earlier). From my research, it looks like the method originates from Czech Republic, although it has a french name… and is called ‘English embroidery’ (more on this in just a second). It is mostly known as being white thread on a white fabric (cotton is most commonly used), where holes are created and finally finished with stitches around the edges of each shape. Since the 1800’s, it’s been used in PJs (or nightwear back then) and underwear, and is now mostly found in summer-y clothing like dresses and lightweight t-shirts and tops. The reason it is called ‘Broderie Anglaise‘ is because of the popularity it had in the 19th century, in England.

Most commonly, designs are made to symbolise flowers, vines and foliage, ovals or dots. They can be any size shape and style, but generally they are small and ditsy and have a very fine stitch. Now-a-days most Broderie Anglaise is achieved by machine rather than by hand, which would require skill and precision.

Broderie Anglaise 212345

These are a few pieces currently available online. Due to the fact that the style is fairly summery, it is quite hard to find ‘in trend’ pieces at the moment, but I still really love some of these! I absolutely love the black dress, it’s so gorgeously detailed, in a very subtle way, and the shape is very flattering. In fact, I think it would look perfect with the black flats from New Look (£5… bargain!) which would add a preppy touch. The Victoria Beckham shorts are also pretty darn cool, they look chic but have that model-off-duty, modern, city chic vibe about them. Which is your favourite piece? Let me know in the comments!

Next week I’ll be talking all things Burberry, so stay tuned if you like the sound of that! You can catch all of my little A-Z Fashion Guide posts, here

My Style: A Little Transitional Outfit for Autumn*

By October 9, 2014 My Style

Well hello there my friend! I’m back with another outfit! Excuse the different editing of these images (if you can tell…) but I’m deciding on what works best for me so you might see different styles in the next few My Style posts. Speaking of different styles… this outfit is quite a different style for me! It’s quite a transitional one… not much colour, but I like it nonetheless and I hope you do too! 🙂

autumn 1

What I Wore: Fluffy Faux Feather Jacket (Matalan), Lace Hem Breton Top (Johnnie B – Sold Out)*, Mom Jeans (Jumble Sale), Cat Ear Bowler Hat (Claire’s)* & Blue Folk Print Hi-Tops £15.99 (New Look)*

I told you it was a slightly different outfit than usual! Where the heck has the colour gone?! I think sometimes it is refreshing to change it up though, especially since I basically wear colour 9 til’ 5. Claire’s sent me this adorable cat ear bowler hat (which I believe is from the new Katy Perry collection), and I new straight away I had to whack out my old Matalan jacket… which wasn’t quite as ‘cropped’ when I first got it… if you know what I mean 😉 It was also another reason to brave wearing black/grey with navy… it worked out alright in the end!

How cute is the hat though?! My brother doesn’t like it, and to be honest I never knew it would suit me, but it’s definitely won me over. The ears add that cuteness, and the grey/black shade adds that touch of sophistication. I wear it on the back of my head and swoop my hair back into miniature curtains and I love it! The colour also compliments not only my skin tone, but also my hair colour… what do you think of it? Ooh, and let’s not forget the cute little Breton top that I chose from Johnnie B. You can never have too many striped tops! It’s a slightly wider fit than I would usually go for, but it looks really casual of jeans or a flowy skirt. The lace adds a really nice touch too, especially layered over tulle.

Let’s talk shoes! I’ve had these for a while now from New Look, and they are super duper comfy! I always tend to wear these with jeans because they look awesome with them. The paisley print is such a nice touch too.

Ahh Autumn, I’m glad you are back! Although it means it’s time for thick tights and cold noses (and toes!), it also means it’s nearly Christmas… and then nearly 2015! I think this outfit has made me realise that I need to take this season to rediscover some gems in my wardrobe and perhaps replace them with a few new items. Are you feeling the same? Tell me!

Before you go though, I have some news! I can finally say that Tolly Dolly Posh Fashion is getting a re-design! Eeee! 😀 I’m going to be launching it on the 25th October 2014. That means my site will probably be down for maintenance on the 24th, but do not fear, it’s for the good! I am SO excited now… it’s all coming together so so well! It’s going to be a big change but I hope you like it! The countdown begins…

A lot of time recently, I go to my wardrobe and say ‘What would Susie wear?’… Susie being fellow blogger, Susie Lau/Bubble, and I definitely feel like this is her kind of outfit… toned down a bit! I saw these (there are two… one white, one green) petticoats in Oxfam… just poking out like, ‘Take me home… take me home!’, and that’s exactly what I did. For me £7.99 is quite a lot for a charity shop, but I have no regrets. I love the way they look fun, but the length gives them that ‘chic’ edge to them, and anything tulle makes me happy. My bargain H&M skirt I got in October is perfect for how sheer it is too… aww I just love this outfit! Oh wait, hang-on, did I mention I did these pictures in front of a Banksy?! Yeah, just casual… 😀

It hits me just at the right place and is so comfortable! I loveeee it! Anyway, enough about that, lets talk Banksy! You probably know where this is already, but isn’t it cool?! It’s actually really big, and I love the fact it’s in an open space so you always notice it. I really would love to know how much the house it is on is worth… or how many times people have posed in the phone box! Me and Papa Posh were taking these pictures and we are pretty sure we made it a trend… lots of people came over and did the same thing… well except without the outfit detail shots in the mix!

It doesn’t feel too big just to have sunglasses and a lip balm in (yup…), so it’s honestly the best bag ever. I’ve already got it grubby… it’s definitely going to be my essential this summer! On top of that, how cute does it look!

New Look Wishlist: Blue Blue Blue*

By January 22, 2014 My Style, Wishlist

Hello everyone! (I still have no idea how to introduce these blog posts) Today I have a bit of a wishlist for you from New Look! I’ve rounded up a few of my favourite pieces at the moment, and I hope you like it! I didn’t purposely make it all colour coordinated, but that’s kinda’ how it ended out!

New Look WishlistTeen Tile Print Dress//Teen Space Dye Dress//Cold Shoulder Dress//Teen Alabama Airtex Crop Top//Teen Polka Dot Crop Shirt//Block Heel Sandals//Teardrop Choker

Tile Dress – I have really taken a liking to shift dresses, and this one is super nice! I think it would be perfect for all occasions and all seasons. Wear it in Summer with a pair of sandals, in Autumn with a big snood, Winter with a leather jacket etc etc. It’s just such a versatile and simple dress! Shift dresses are really flattering too, so this would be perfect for me with my mini figure!

Space Dye Dress – I think ‘2 piece look-a-like’ dresses are the perfect of ‘easy wear’ items to own. You can literally just wear it, plus some shoes, and then… you’re done! I’m a big fan of marl, or tie dye, so this is such a gorgeous dress for me. EEEE, I seriously cannot wait until Summer so I can wear nice dresses and loads of friendship bracelets and just be all cool and like ‘Oooh yeah, I’m all snazzy because it’s the Summer’… um, I believe writing past 7 o’clock at night means I go slightly mad and bring out my inner self.

Cold Shoulder Dress – I’ve always liked the idea of these style dresses, and the fact that you could still wear it with things underneath, makes them pretty cool. I also like how this one is really nice and floaty so you could wear it on the beach and it would look love-r-ly.

Alabama Crop Top – Ooh, 2nd item in blue… oops. I’m not usually a big fan of sport luxe, but this is actually quite cool. The texture of it would make it so nice to layer and it would look so cute with a pair of shorts. Ooooh, seriously guys I cannot wait for the sunshine… *sigh*

Polka Dot Crop Top – I’ve been on the look out for a nice button up blouse, and I am a big fan of navy and white, so this one is now on my radar! It’s pretty cute, and would go with quite a lot of my wardrobe. Perfect!

Necklace & Shoes – Another blue-ish item with the necklace. I haven’t got many silver pieces which are nice and chunky, so this one looks so pretty. It would look so nice with a fluffy jumper, dungarees, any of the above dresses, so basically anything! The shoes are also really nice because they don’t look too high. They look like they would be quite comfortable and would again go with quite a lot.
